    Heroine Regret 101

    Edited by: Tiny Fan Fiction

    Do you like Kitagami-san, Yui?

Kato Megumi kept turning around, staring at Tomoya Aki.

    “Hate it!”

    That was her immediate reaction.

Kato Megumi rarely has friends; her personality is pretty dull and carefree, and she also rarely dislikes others.

Tomoya Aki counts as one of them.

She recalled earlier incidents where the other had been loud and aggressive, even stepping on her own foot.

The calm girl silently stood up and moved away a bit.

Her gaze didn’t leave Tomoya Aki’s body.

Because she noticed that Tomoya Aki was looking in Kitagami Yoru’s direction, his lips moving, so he probably wasn’t going to say anything good.

“Aki-san is still badmouthing about Kitagami君 behind her back. That person…”

Kato Megumi ended up disliking Tomoya Aki even more.

“But Kitagami君 is super popular, you know……”

    ……

    “Next group, prepare.”

The physical education teacher called out from far away.

“I need to start the test. Please let me go.”

Kitagami Yoru waved her hand and pushed through the crowd to stand on the track.

    What’s going on here?

People surrounded her, asking for contact information, and she found notes and letters in her shoebox and desk every day.

Suddenly becoming so popular, Kitagami Yoru is not used to it.

“Warm up by shaking your legs; countdown ten seconds.”

The vice-president of the student council reminded him.

Kitagami Yoru looked at the finish line and then at the other group of students.

Each group has eight people running together.

By her side were Tobe Kakeru and Hayama Hayato.

    “Familiar faces….”

Kitagami Yoru had never forgotten that Tobe Kakeru had wronged him twice before.

    “Ten… nine… eight……”

The countdown began, and Kitagami Yoru’s composure gradually tightened.

Earlier, the girls surrounding her stood at the edge of the track, a long line.

Most were cheering for Kitagami Yoru and discussing her looks and how handsome she is.

Kitagami Yoru could hear herself gasping in fear and feeling annoyed.

And even more so about the others around her, like Hayama Hayato.

He was okay; he just felt bad for Tobe Kakeru, whose face turned green.

In his peripheral vision, Kitagami Yoru sneakily observed Ebina Hina in the distance, who was also cheering for him.

    “Damn it, this Kitagami Yoru….”

With three seconds left on the countdown, Tobe Kakeru glared at Kitagami Yoru.

    “Three… two… one…”

    The countdown ended!

Kitagami Yoru had been holding her breath.

At the exact moment the words fell, her body instinctively reacted with a swift dash out.

Those around her also immediately followed, reacting within less than a second.

This was a physical test, not an exam, but she needed to give it her all.

Kitagami Yoru isn’t good at sprinting and hasn’t practiced at all.

Lung capacity, also gradually trained during weight loss.

Within the first few seconds, everyone is roughly on the same level.

At around 30 meters apart, the gap begins to widen!

Kitagami Yoru was originally in first place, but due to rapid sprinting wind resistance, he nearly couldn’t keep his eyes open.

The entire running track is filled with their shouts.

    Next second.

Hayama Hayato slightly overtakes Kitagami Yoru to take the first position and heads straight for the finish line.

A countless number of breaths, but unfortunately, they can be heard.

Several figures flash by in quick succession.

Kitagami Yoru finishes second, with a large group of female classmates expressing their regret as they gather around him again.

    The situation is not right!

Isn’t Hayama supposed to be the one shouting and celebrating since he came first?

    “Huh-huh….”

Hayama Hayato leans against his knees, bending over to catch his breath.

Just barely, half a position away from his own first place, he almost has to bow down in submission.

“I’m a forward player, so I still need to take opportunities and require high-speed dashes for my role…..”

“How can a recently reduced ‘fat guy’ run that fast?”

    Hayama Hayato gasps and惊讶地回头看向Kitagami Yoru.

If Kitagami Yoru had been practicing football from a young age, he might become the next Saint Bell, Owen, or Mupbape…..

Well, a large group of girls surrounds him, and others keep pushing forward.

“Sorry, sorry, let me step aside.”

Kitagami Yoru is completely speechless as he raises his hands in confusion, not knowing how to handle the situation.

Everyone is saying I’m good-looking, but I’m just a little cute, right?

Ebina Hina squeezes her way into the crowd and daringly pulls toward Kitagami Yoru’s arm while standing on her toes. She says: “Kitagami-san, congratulations on finishing second and becoming the winner.”

    “Do you need help?”

    “Yes.”

Kitagami Yoru quickly replies with a look of distress, realizing Ebina Hina’s intentions.

    “OK!”

Ebina Hina holds onto Kitagami Yoru’s arm and walks out gracefully.

Those girls aren’t fools. Seeing Kitagami Yoru and another girl being affectionate, they suddenly freeze in confusion.

    Who is that?

    Kitagami Yoru isn’t resisting!

He finished fourth, currently looking at the scores registered by Tobe Kakeru, who is an athletics teacher. Kakeru’s eyes nearly explode with anger.

“What’s going on between Ebina and Kitagami Yoru?”

“And today at noon, all four of them weren’t in the classroom; they just came back when it was time for class!”

“Isn’t Kitagami Yoru already known to have a girlfriend?”

Tobe Kakeru is extremely worried and his face turns increasingly green.

However, everyone has just finished running, and no one feels anything unusual.

“Teacher, I’m reporting that Kitagami Yoru cheated!”

Tobe Kakeru staring intently at Ebina Hina’s affectionate embrace of Kitagami Yoru’s arm, unsure where to go. He quickly comes up with a plan.

    “Cheating?”

The physical education teacher was about to call the next group but stopped first.

“Yes, he was standing beside me and cheated for one second.”

“Teacher, you can ask someone else to confirm, Hayato, what do you say?”

Tobe Kakeru repeatedly tells the physical education teacher and looks at Hayama Hayato.

This is a new teacher who recently joined. He doesn’t know much about the students’ physical levels yet; he needs to collect accurate data and understand their athletic abilities.

The data is unreliable; we need to redo it.

    “This… I don’t seem to understand….”

Hayama Hayato wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling thirsty.

During PE class, occasionally there are girls who like him and buy him drinks.

Now, even a hair isn’t enough; they’re all gone to Kitagami Yoru’s place.

    “Is that so?”

“Then we’ll race again. You go call Kitagami-san for me.”

The PE teacher didn’t say much; sprinting is a common occurrence.

The classmates nearby heard and rushed over, catching snippets of the girls’ conversation.

“Hayasaka, don’t you like handsome guys?”

“Let’s try again. Try? What if it works this time?”

“No… I don’t want to; you should try if you like it.”

Hayasaka Ai felt overwhelmed by these girls’ conversation.

Why would she like Kitagami Yoru and push herself forward?

What if they end up together?

What can we do about that?

    “I’m really scared, so frustrating.”

Moving away from the crowd, Kitagami Yoru pulled his arm back and looked at Ebina Hina.

“Haha, being popular isn’t all bad…”

Ebina Hina pushed her glasses up and lightly patted Kitagami Yoru’s shoulder.

    That’s interesting…

Even a girl who has no interest in relationships, after touching her a bit, almost couldn’t look away.

A moment later, the PE teacher called over the students he had summoned.

He called Kitagami Yoru back again.

“I didn’t cheat! I just have better starting speed, okay?”

Complaining nonstop, Kitagami Yoru glanced at Ebina Hina and quickly returned.

Well, we’ll just have to redo it then.

Sprinting affects everyone’s rhythm in the race; on a national stage, it can lead to disqualification. Don’t think of it as a minor issue.

So, the eight-member group lined up for another race.

The PE teacher came near and personally gave the order.

    “Again… this is so tiring….”

“My legs have no strength; I can’t run anymore….”

Two girls in their group whispered complaints, while the boys got motivated, thinking they hadn’t performed well enough.

    They want to race again.

    “Three….. two…… one…..”

The PE teacher’s expression was sharp like a hawk, scanning each person intently.

After the count, Kitagami Yoru bit down hard on his teeth and sprinted!

    “Suck-suck-suck!”

    Several figures shot forward.

    “No cheating.”

At Shuchiin Academy, a top-tier private school with an absurdly high hiring standards for PE teachers, he was certain of his ability to catch them.

In the 100-meter race, Kitagami Yoru and Hayama Hayato collided mid-race, each slightly ahead of the other in their positions. The rest fell behind by a small margin.

    “Wow, doesn’t he get tired?”

Hayama Hayato pushed himself to his limits, charging forward with all his strength, but his body still hadn’t recovered.

Kitagami Yoru’s recovery speed was vastly superior.

    ……

    Soccer field, flat grassy surface.

Ebina Hina returns quietly and sneaks behind Miura Yumiko and Yuigahama Yui.

    “Is Yui looking at Kitagami-san?”

Ebina Hina originally wanted to scare her two sisters, even if Miura Yumiko was warming up.

    “Hehe…”

When Ebina Hina wasn’t sick with the “rotten woman’s disease,” people were normal.

She lightly collapses onto the ground and slowly crawls towards Yuigahama Yui, glancing around a few times before looking in a certain direction.

Kitagami Yoru is racing again; did he win against Hayama-san and become first?

Ebina Hina slightly surprises but then crawls up to Yuigahama Yui, nearly贴着 her back.

“Looking so intently, even I didn’t notice.”

    “Yui, is Kitagami-san attractive?”

Smiling inward, Ebina Hina lowers her voice and tentatively speaks.

    “He’s… attractive.”

During the first 100-meter test, Yuigahama Yui kept sitting in meditation, staring at Kitagami Yoru for a long time.

In her mind, all she can think about is Kitagami Yoru’s confession to her that afternoon.

It feels like her ears are filled with Kitagami Yoru’s gentle voice, playing on loop.

    The most terrifying part is…

Calming down, Yuigahama Yui takes the time to reflect properly.

She seems to have caught something, but it wasn’t Kitagami Yoru’s arm she accidentally grabbed.

But then she touches her own small arm and hesitates again.

    “Do you like him?”

Ebina Hina forces a smile, her eyes curiously asking the question again.

    “Like… or not.”

Does she like him or not?

Yuigahama Yui hasn’t reached a conclusion yet. Without thinking, she lets Ebina Hina’s words come out as she tries to figure it out.

    Flashing images in her mind.

Yuigahama Yui’s heart rate slows down gradually, and she realizes something isn’t right, so she gasps in surprise.

She quickly stands up and turns around.

“You… you… Hina, you scared me.”

For a moment, Yuigahama Yui feels like her heart is about to jump out of her throat, panicking.

Miura Yumiko distracts herself by glancing over, not paying attention.

    “Yui, your face is red.”

Ebina Hina starts laughing instead, touching her own cheek.

“It’s all your fault for scaring me!”

    Yuigahama Yui explains defensively.

“Ahaha, you’re not serious. Are you liking Kitagami-san?”

But Yuigahama Yui knows Ebina Hina, and she’s just being simple about it.

“No, I don’t feel that way. It’s too straightforward for me to like someone quickly.”

    “Hina, don’t tease me.”

Yuigahama Yui awkwardly defends herself, feeling embarrassed.

    “Go cheer for Yumiko.”

Ebina Hina stops herself but then walks away in another direction.

In front of the vending machine.

Kitagami Yoru inserts a coin and takes out a juice bottle.

The long-awaited Kato Megumi appears, grinning as she approaches from afar, her small mouth open to call out.

But then, Ebina Hina suddenly shouts Kitagami Yoru’s name and runs over.

Megumi Kato’s smile immediately stiffened, staring blankly at Kitagami Yoru and Ebina Hina as they seemed to be talking about something.

Her expression was complex, her eyes haunting in a unsettling way… almost like she had some kind of mental illness…..

“Kitagami-san, it’s Tobe who reported you for running away,” said Megumi Kato.

Ebina Hina approached and sighed deeply, her eyebrows furrowed.

Normally, she didn’t feel anything towards Tobe Kakeru. This made her even less fond of him.

    “I understand.”

“He’s jealous, not wanting you to be with me,” Kitagami Yoru said calmly, gazing off toward the school grounds.

She glanced at the vending machine before turning back around.

“Honestly, he and I weren’t getting along in the first place. I don’t like him either.”

“By the way, what kind of boy do you like?” Kitagami Yoru asked, looking at the girl before him.

He didn’t understand why a beautiful girl would intentionally make herself look bad.

Even when normally dressed, she probably wouldn’t be outshined by her good friend Miura Yumiko.

At that time, Yuigahama Yui was slightly less than perfect because she lacked her mother’s maturity.

    “I like you like this.”

Ebina Hina pushed her glasses up with a finger and said quietly.

    “Ah?”

    Kitagami Yoru clearly stumbled.

    “Ah-hah-ha….”

Ebina Hina saw Kitagami Yoru’s reaction and burst out laughing without any inhibition.

    She was just joking around.

“Don’t play around like that,” she said.

“Just kidding, it was a mock confession….”

“I won’t do it next time.”

Ebina Hina awkwardly waved her hand, promising she wouldn’t joke around again.
