    Heroine Regret 104

    Edited by: Tiny Fan Fiction

    Young stepfather?

    “Where’s Yuigahama-san?”

    “How come it’s gone?”

Yukinoshita Yukino hands over most of the money to Kitagami Yoru after counting it, and he puts it into his pocket, which was originally his own.

These are material fees that Kitagami Yoru has already covered beforehand.

    “I don’t know.”

Kitagami Yoru readily accepts it and puts it into his pocket, though it’s money that was originally his own.

“Get ready, the club activity ends this afternoon. Next week and the following week, you won’t come?”

Yukinoshita Yukino divides the remaining money equally into three portions.

“Yes, Hiratsuka-sensei asked me to do it, and I couldn’t refuse….”

“Being a model for two weeks and then taking the final exam… It’s really interesting….”

Kitagami Yoru’s comment is interesting, naturally pointing to Eriri.

Yukinoshita Yukino takes one portion of money, gives another to Kitagami Yoru, and leaves the third on the table for Yuigahama Yui.

“What do we do with these materials?”

    Kitagami Yoru asks later.

“You can take the roses if you want; otherwise, just throw them away…. The white backdrop can be collected…..”

    Yukinoshita Yukino thinks deeply.

They quickly agree and divide their tasks.

Kitagami Yoru takes a broom from behind the door to sweep up the remnants of balloons on the floor. Yukinoshita Yukino removes those small colored lamps, preparing to collect the backdrop.

    About ten minutes later,

Yuigahama Yui appears at the entrance of the Service Club, her heart pounding because she’s afraid of seeing Kitagami Yoru.

She takes a deep breath, forces a smile, and walks inside.

“Sorry, my stomach feels a bit uncomfortable; I went to the bathroom.”

Yuigahama Yui makes up an excuse.

Little does she know that Kitagami Yoru and Yukinoshita Yukino don’t mind at all.

The three of them spend quite some time cleaning the Service Club, piling up a heap after another of trash.

What’s left is a large bundle of beautiful roses, barely lasting half a day.

They haven’t started to wilt yet.

    “That’s really too bad. So many flowers… It’s such a pity…..”

Yuigahama Yui uses the broom to break up the rose petals on the floor.

“You can take all of them, Yuigahama-san.”

    Kitagami Yoru responds.

    “No… Maybe it’s better not to….”

Yuigahama Yui is too embarrassed to look at Kitagami Yoru and slowly gets up.

“Let’s throw all these flowers away together.”

Yukinoshita Yukino gives the order firmly.

After throwing away the roses, the time barely reaches four thirty-five.

Normally, this is exactly when club activities are supposed to end.

“I have something to do; I’ll leave now.”

Kitagami Yoru replies to Hayasaka Ai’s message and quickly descends the stairs with his bookbag.

    Inside the café,

“Can you give me my phone back?”

“Man, you’re really making this hard….”

Hayasaka Ai adopts an attitude like a frustrated girlfriend, sighing genuinely.

“Alright, alright, Hayasaka, why are you so upset about getting Kitagami-san’s contact information?”

“I’m jealous of you, you really don’t want to talk about relationships? I bet Kitagami-san likes you…”

Three girls casually bring up Hayasaka Ai.

If Kitagami Yoru doesn’t have feelings for Hayasaka Ai, would he agree to Hayasaka Ai’s invitation?

    “I don’t like it.”

Hayasaka Ai doesn’t like anyone; she’s just Kaguya-sama’s maid, a humble and multi-faced servant.

“I don’t like it now, and if Kitagami-san likes someone else in the future, you won’t come running, or else you’ll die…”

    A blue-nail polish-wearing girl pouts.

“Hayasaka, you don’t like it, so just give it to me; I’ll go talk to Kitagami-san for you.”

Another girl with wavy purple hair speaks up.

All three of them have pretty much passed the looks test.

“I don’t care anymore; this is the last time. Next time, I won’t pay attention to any of you.”

Hayasaka Ai coldly smiles inwardly, liking Kitagami Yoru—though it’s impossible.

Upon receiving a message, Kitagami Yoru rushes to Angel Café and sees Mrs. Yuigahama from the counter.

They exchange distant glances; she smiles warmly at him and greets him.

Kitagami Yoru tenses up behind her, remembering today’s noon confession and their earlier finger-holding incident.

A sheepish smile plays on his face as he enters Hayasaka Ai’s room.

“Good afternoon; I was a bit slow.”

Kitagami Yoru pokes his head inside, speaking slowly.

He’s attending this kind of gathering for the first time and doesn’t want to interact with these girls, but he still has to do it.

Usually, just chatting and getting acquainted would suffice?

But his target is Hayasaka Ai.

    “Kitagami-san, you can sit down.”

The girls all get up to let him take a seat.

    “Okay.”

Kitagami Yoru sits down across from Hayasaka Ai.

He looks at the golden side-swept hairstyle of this quarter-Irish mixed beauty girl, who doesn’t fall short of Eriri in any way—truly impressive!

    “What are you doing?”

Hayasaka Ai slightly frowns, letting Kitagami Yoru look her in the face; she feels a bit shy and uncomfortable.

“Aren’t you here because Hayasaka-san called you and asked for your contact information?”

    Kitagami Yoru cheerfully responds.

The three girls exchange glances, sitting down together on one side.

This room can only seat at most three people on one side.

Even though there are three girls next to him, it’s still a bit cramped; their legs are touching.

“I… don’t mind… But Kitagami-san keeps staring at her, and I’ll get shy.”

Hayasaka Ai can’t take anymore of her companions’ pleading glances, so she changes the subject.

“Why don’t you three sit together? I’ll sit with Hayasaka-san instead.”

Kitagami Yoru stands up aggressively, apologizing as he moves to a different side to sit down.

Before they can open their mouths or Hayasaka Ai refuse, he sits down.

    “You… Don’t mind?”

Hayasaka Ai looks up at Kitagami Yoru; his eyes hold a mix of surprise and displeasure.

She’s having her first intimate interaction with an opposite sex—Kitagami Yoru, no less, on a senior bus.

“I’ll sit down; let’s order some coffee.”

It’s Friday today; Kitagami Yoru smiles as he separates two fists’ distance and sits next to Hayasaka Ai.

    “Ah…. Where should I sit….”

“This place is too small, let’s move somewhere else?”

    “Oh my….”

The three girls’ reactions are all different.

Kitagami Yoru remained silent, sipping his coffee without a care for sleep later.

Next, it was the girls who took the initiative, asking Kitagami Yoru many questions.

For example, dieting, relationships…. What do you like?…

Kitagami Yoru answered casually, sometimes speaking with Hayasaka Ai.

    Time passed by….

Yuigahama Yui wandered aimlessly around Shuchiin Academy and returned to the café alone.

Waiting for Mrs. Yuigahama to close the store after work, they would go home together with her mother.

At this time, the café had few new customers.

    Students nearby had started arriving.

Mrs. Yuigahama sat at the counter resting, a small vase in the corner holding a beautiful red rose.

    Yuigahama Yui noticed it too….

In the next room, Kitagami Yoru was overwhelmed by the three girls’ relentless questioning.

He realized Hayasaka Ai had no interest in him and likely only came because of the other girls’ persuasion.

    On the other side,

Yuigahama Yui stared at the familiar red rose, curious: “Mom, where did this rose come from?”

“It was sent by Kitagami-senpai in the morning. He said it’s needed for their club activities.”

Mrs. Yuigahama placed her hands on the counter, her chest rising and falling with a mature allure as she smiled faintly.

    “Ah? Kitagami-san?”

    Yuigahama Yui exclaimed in surprise.

    And…

How come Mom is calling Kitagami-san so affectionately? Why is he closer to her than me?

    “What’s wrong?”

    “Yui?”

    Mrs. Yuigahama asked puzzled.

“Nothing, just the familiar rose, haha.”

    Yuigahama Yui laughed.

“Too bad you don’t like Kitagami-senpai; otherwise, Mom would fully support your relationship.”

“I think Kitagami-senpai is a nice person to be around.”

Mrs. Yuigahama glanced at the next room where Kitagami Yoru sat with several beautiful Shuchiin Academy girls.

    How popular Kitagami-senpai is!

    It’s understandable….

If I were twenty years younger, I might also like Kitagami-senpai’s charming and easygoing nature.

Of course, Mrs. Yuigahama reflects on her own youth as an older woman.

“As an old lady, why would young boys like me?”

Mrs. Yuigahama thought to herself, recalling a drama she watched where younger men fell for older women.

The script was too unrealistic compared to the real world…

    “I… I….”

Yuigahama Yui opened her mouth, looking at her mom.

She didn’t know what to say.

Could she say, Mom, today I suddenly like Kitagami-san?

“Still… Mom, you’re talking nonsense. What are you saying about getting along?”

Yuigahama Yui sulks and mutters irritably:

    “How can I say it, Kitagami-san? It’s like choosing a stepfather who’s a bit… well, not exactly…”

    “No, that’s too much.”

“Wait, today is Friday. People will be more out and about.”

Mrs. Yuigahama calls her daughter to sit down.

The atmosphere grows awkward, and the three suggest going to sing karaoke and chat a bit.

Few comply, but Hayasaka Ai fails to carry her backpack and slants a look at Kitagami Yoru.

“He wouldn’t be interested in me, would he?”

    “Hayasaka-san, you seem upset.”

Kitagami Yoru smirks and presses his point.

    “Still, it’s not too bad…”

Hayasaka Ai walks away, glancing back at Kitagami Yoru, tapping her toes against the shoe bottom with a small click.

In front of this stunningly good-looking guy, who seems like a foot fetishist, she can’t understand why anyone would find pleasure in that.

    “Is he… into that too?”

Hayasaka Ai turns around, muttering to herself, her back damp with sweat.

She pretends to listen to her companions but is actually recalling the notebook she saw in Kitagami Yoru’s purchase history.

The commercial street has several KTV places nearby.

They choose one with a free drink deal for an hour and a half.

Inside the private room, colorful lanterns sway above them.

“Hayasaka, you shouldn’t just come in here and not say anything. Pick up the mic and sing!”

A blue-nail beauty complains to Hayasaka Ai about not cooperating with games like paper cards or checkers.

“Sorry, I’d rather sing than play this.”

Kitagami Yoru looks at Hayasaka Ai and waves his hand in refusal.

The three sisters aren’t fools, so it’s obvious someone doesn’t want to pay attention to them. Keep an eye on the most beautiful Hayasaka Ai.

Hayasaka Ai takes a deep breath, her gaze changes, and she stands up slowly.

    “Hayasaka is going to sing….”

    She turns toward Hayasaka Ai.

The song is an upbeat, clear pop tune with a entertainment girl group style.

Hayasaka Ai’s voice is crisp and pleasant, her singing skills are top-notch, filling the small room with her voice.

Kitagami Yoru notices that Hayasaka Ai is really invested in her performance, singing with enthusiasm.

“It almost feels like she’s releasing some inner tension….”

Kitagami Yoru occasionally adds a backup vocal.

    A few minutes later….

The last line of the song lyrics comes out of Hayasaka Ai’s mouth, followed by a short closing musical segment. She slowly puts down the mic and opens her eyes with a breath.

“It feels so good. After returning, I should take a hot bath.”

Relaxed Hayasaka Ai sits down, her mood improved.

The screen flickers quickly, showing a score of 93.

“You sang well, it’s very nice to listen to.”

    Kitagami Yoru claps in approval.

    “Thank you.”

Hayasaka Ai looks at him with a polite response.

“I’ll join too, let’s have Kitagami-san and me together.”

One of the sisters takes the mic from Hayasaka Ai and looks toward Kitagami Yoru.

After about half an hour, they continue talking but quickly move on.

“The progress bar is worrying. Hayasaka Ai isn’t suitable as a friend; she’s hard to get along with….”

“Unless we can find a reason to keep in touch with her….”

Under the setting sun, an orange cloud painted by the burning gas adds drama to the sky. The five of them leave the karaoke room and head toward the station.

    At the station entrance.

When Hayasaka Ai and Kitagami Yoru separate, he hesitantly asks: “Hayasaka-san, about this afternoon’s incident….”

“Was it them who asked you to do that?”

    “Yes, I don’t like you.”

Hayasaka Ai doesn’t feel the need to hide anything.

“You’re really harsh…. Eriri said I have charm, didn’t she?”

“I understand now. Next time, I’ll refuse.”

Kitagami Yoru nods lightly but still doesn’t ask.

They aren’t close, so it’s not appropriate to bring up.
