    Girl and Stray Cat

Push open the apartment door, and you’ll find an entrance hall and a separate toilet.

The floor is covered in golden maple hardwood, clean and tidy; it feels great to step on barefoot.

Go a little further inside, and you’ll find a simply furnished and bright living room with a sealed-off small sofa and a wall-mounted TV.

The living room connects to the bedroom, separated by a door. The space is not big; there’s a bed, a wardrobe, and a desk.

The bed is next to a bay window, which Kitakami Yoru really likes.

On the other side of the bedroom, there’s a separated kitchen and shower room with a small balcony outside, where the washing machine is placed.

Though small, it has all the necessary facilities.

The location is good, the house is nice, and the price is affordable.

Kitakami Yoru chose the corner unit on the second floor and signed a contract with the elderly landlord.

He also got a golden-haired neighbor who lives right next to Kitakami Yoru.

After signing the contract, the elderly landlord said there are many remaining rooms in the apartment; if he introduces someone else to rent, they can get a discount on the rent.

    Then she left.

Kitakami Yoru and Gabriel are leaning on the second-floor balcony, two meters apart, standing in front of their respective doors.

“You know, I don’t even know your name yet.”

“My name is Gabriel White Tenma” Gabriel took the initiative to greet Kitakami Yoru.

Thinking that she had just arrived and wasn’t very clear about everything, and since the other party was her future neighbor, he felt a bit nervous but still got along well with her.

“Oh, my name is Kitakami Yoru.” Yoru looked at Gabriel nervously and replied.

“Just call me Gabriel.” Gabriel smiled politely, looking very adorable.

“Okay…” Yoru felt a bit like waking up from a dream and quickly found a topic to say:

“So, Gabriel, are you studying here from abroad?”

“Yes, I just transferred to the nearby Shuuei Private Academy from overseas.” Gabriel nodded in recollection.

“I can’t say that I’m an angel; I need to hide my true identity.” After saying that, Gabriel started to think negatively about herself.

    “Shuuei Academy, we are classmates.”

    Yoru said unexpectedly.

Suddenly realizing he could talk normally with a girl, his eyebrows slowly lifted up; he was surprised by himself.

    “Are we classmates? That’s fate.”

Gabriel nodded and then requested Kitakami Yoru, “Kitakami-san, should we go shopping for some furniture together?”

“I’m new to Japan and not very familiar with this place…”

After saying that, the adorable golden-haired Gabriel stared at Kitakami Yoru with her gray-blue eyes; he couldn’t refuse and nodded stiffly.

The two went shopping for small appliances together, hoping to get some discounts.

Of course, Kitakami Yoru knew himself and wouldn’t foolishly think that Gabriel would fall in love with him as a fat otaku.

It seems foreigners are more tolerant of fat people; it’s true.

Kitakami Yoru thinks to himself and makes plans with Gabriel.

After that, Kitakami Yoru doesn’t stay here and goes back directly.

He tells his parents about renting a place, rests at home for a night, packs his stuff, and asks his dad to drive him there.

    The next day.

Kitakami Yoru goes shopping with Gabriel again, they have a lot of things to buy.

Besides appliances like rice cookers, cookware, and refrigerators, they also need stuff like tissues, cold medicine, and other random items.

When Kitakami Yoru and Gabriel go out together, people often stare at them with strange looks.

He seems like a wild boar from the mountains, while Gabriel is a noble princess. Together, they look quite out of place to outsiders.

Fortunately, no one thinks he’s blackmailing Gabriel and chooses to call the police.

Gabriel seems quite indifferent, possibly not realizing this at all.

He gets along well with Gabriel, and she is polite and kind to him.

    In the next few days.

After going out to buy things together a few times, they become more familiar with each other.

Tomorrow is the start of school.

On this day at noon, the sky remains gloomy.

The weather forecast says that it will be rainy season for a long time, so it’s best to carry an umbrella when going out.

With the sun shining brightly in the morning and heavy rain in the afternoon, it’s not surprising.

Kitakami Yoru and Gabriel have lunch outside before returning to their apartment.

    ……

“Let me see, what else is there to buy?”

Kitakami Yoru looks at the fridge that’s packed full and feels a sense of accomplishment.

Don’t misunderstand, the fridge is filled with clean ingredients, high protein, low fat, metabolism-boosting fruits, and good quality carbs.

“I bought a yoga mat, vitamins, joint supplements, and a desk lamp….”

While muttering to himself, Kitakami Yoru reminisces.

“Oh, right, I haven’t bought books for reviewing!”

Kitakami Yoru clenches his hands and turns around to go out.

In the past few days, he’s been troubled by the condition of entering the top thirty in the class ranking and couldn’t sleep well.

Moving out from home is also to focus on studying and losing weight.

Although he knows the chances are small, Kitakami Yoru still wants to try his best!

Whenever he thinks about this, Kitakami Yoru’s fists tighten unconsciously and his expression becomes fierce as he remembers Shinomiya Kaguya and Kasumigaoka Utah.

    ……

Since there are no books for reviewing nearby, Kitakami Yoru takes two trains and finds a big bookstore to buy them.

I bought groceries and remembered that I was out of seasonings. I had previously bought some salt and oil.

On the way, Kitakami Yoru went to a nearby convenience store to buy more stuff and also picked up dinner for tonight.

Shortly after leaving the convenience store, dark clouds gathered in the sky and it started to drizzle.

Kitakami Yoru didn’t have an umbrella, so he could only hope that the rain wouldn’t get too heavy and quickly made his way to the train station.

It seemed like he was unlucky; the rain began to fall harder as he walked.

There wasn’t anywhere nearby to take cover, so Kitakami Yoru had to hide under a tree planted by the roadside to wait out the rain.

    “What bad luck!”

Kitakami Yoru crouched under the tree, pulling himself back slightly as the tiny raindrops were blown sideways by the wind, constantly hitting him.

His clothes became damp and cold against his skin. He wished he could find a bigger tree to hide in, but couldn’t find one that was suitable.

But then, he noticed a black cat hiding in the branches of a nearby tree.

The dim light made it hard to see; otherwise, he wouldn’t have noticed it.

    “Great!”

Kitakami Yoru decided to approach the tree and protect his book in his arms before quickly walking towards it.

He arrived under the tree and looked up at the black cat.

The cat was very round, with a rounded face and ears. Its fur was shiny and smooth but mixed with dirt. It was completely black like ink, with amber eyes that stared fiercely!

    “It’s just like me!”

    “Wow!”

Kitakami Yoru looked at his own belly and couldn’t help but smile.

The round black cat was also cautiously observing Kitakami Yoru.

Kitakami Yoru decided to try and lure the cat down so he could get a closer look.

So, he took out his dinner from the convenience store.

It was a box of fresh sushi.

Taking a piece of salmon, Kitakami Yoru held it in his hand and shook it to try and tempt the cat.

The black cat stood up from its nest, which seemed like a large bird’s nest that it had claimed as its own.

Its amber eyes followed the salmon as it moved back and forth.

“Come down, salmon…” Kitakami Yoru tried to lift the salmon higher by standing on his tiptoes.

But the cat was very cautious and meowed twice without any intention of coming down.

    “Sigh…”

A bit discouraged, Kitakami Yoru decided to just throw the salmon on top of the rice box.

He decided he would climb the tree!

The tree wasn’t very tall, and climbing it wasn’t a difficult task.

But since he had never climbed a tree before and was quite heavy, it would be challenging.

Luckily, no one was around; otherwise, they would have thought Kitakami Yoru was crazy for hugging the tree and trying to climb it!

After trying several times, the person finally managed to step onto it and hugged the tree trunk tightly.

But immediately, due to exhaustion, they fell down onto the grass below the tree.

    “Meow meow~”

The black cat in the tree called out twice, as if mocking Kitakami Yoru’s inability to gauge his strength, then jumped down.

With a perfect landing and swift movements, it picked up a piece of salmon.

    The next second.

    “Got you~”

Kitakami Yoru shouted excitedly, quickly grabbing the black cat’s neck meat.

The black cat struggled for a moment, turned its head to look at Kitakami Yoru once, then stopped.

Seeing that the cat wasn’t struggling, Kitakami Yoru petted its head.

And discovered it was a female cat with a small name tag on its neck hidden in the fur.

“This must be a cat that ran away from home and is wandering around.”

“No wonder it’s so afraid of people.”

Holding the black cat in his arms, Kitakami Yoru was about to check the name tag.

But from behind, a soft and slightly childish voice called out.

Kitakami Yoru jumped at the sound, twisting his waist to look back, realizing it was Ai (Ai (Love)) dressed in casual clothes.

    Standing right behind him.

Holding an umbrella and a long net bag.
