I really envy Kasumigaoka Utahas senpai.
In front of her, there stood a girl with wavy hair, dressed in simple clothes, holding an umbrella and a net bag.
“Oh, is this your cat?” Kitakami Yoru hesitated and handed the small fat cat to the girl in front of him.
Seeing that she was holding a net bag, Kitakami Yoru subconsciously assumed that the black cat in his arms belonged to her.
“It’s not my cat, oh. Since Kitakami-san saved it, please handle it, Kitakami-san.” Kato Megumi’s face showed no change of emotion.
But, this statement made Kitakami Yoru stunned and blurted out: “How do you know my name is Kitakami? Are you a classmate?”
Kitakami Yoru was very certain that he had never seen this girl before!
“Because… a few days ago during the spring outing, I was in the same team as Kitakami-san.” Kato Megumi said it casually.
“That’s not…” Kitakami Yoru was speechless.
The classmate from the spring outing, everyone knew that he had gone to steal Kasumigaoka Utahas stockings and underpants?
Kitakami Yoru lowered his head and didn’t want to talk anymore, handing out the black cat in his arms: “You found this black cat, don’t you want it?”
“No, my family is allergic to cat hair. I just wanted to save this black cat.” Kato Megumi shook her head gently.
The rain began to fall more heavily.
Kitakami Yoru didn’t respond, lowering his head and hugging the black cat tightly.
Since she didn’t want it, he would adopt it then.
Living alone could be quite lonely.
Having a cat that was as round as him wouldn’t be bad either.
The black cat, held tightly by Kitakami Yoru, stopped struggling, with only its amber eyes spinning around, showing a strong sense of alertness.
“Plop~”
Kato Megumi opened her umbrella and stepped forward to stand beside Kitakami Yoru, covering both of them with the umbrella.
The umbrella could fit two people, shielding them from the increasingly heavy rain and wind.
“If you need it, I can take you to the station or find a place to wait out the rain.”
Kato Megumi shortened her net bag and tucked it under her arm. Her slender hand reached outside the umbrella, with raindrops hitting her white palm.
The rain was getting heavier, with occasional gusts of wind.
“Can… can I?” Kitakami Yoru’s pupils dilated as he looked at the girl in front of him, a bit doubtful.
Kato Megumi tilted her head and replied with confusion: “What’s not okay about it?”>
“Oh oh!”
Holding the black cat in one arm, Kitakami Yoru tucked his previously bought items away and moved into the umbrella.
Kato Megumi silently held up the umbrella, leaving the tree with the “dead fat otaku” beside her and walking away slowly.
After some distance, Kitakami Yoru stole a glance at Kato Megumi’s side face and couldn’t help but ask: “Classmate, why are you willing to take me to the station? Aren’t you afraid of me? Do you think I’m disgusting?”
“During the spring outing…
“They all thought that I was the one who stole Kasumigaoka Utahas underpants and stockings!”
Kato Megumi turned her head to look at Kitakami Yoru and said with a thoughtful tone:
“I saw everything, Kitakami-san, trying so hard to climb the tree.”
“Actually……”
Kitakami Yoru listened intently as the girl beside him continued speaking.
The next second.
Kato Megumi seemed to have thought of something funny and couldn’t help but smile: “Hee hee, it was quite comical when you fell down…”
Kato Megumi quickly realized her mistake and covered her mouth, turning her head away.
Kitakami Yoru swallowed hard.
The girl beside him laughed, sounding gentle and cute, even showing a hint of shyness.
But, what was it all about!
He was dying of curiosity but felt embarrassed at the same time, not knowing how to urge her.
Finally, Kato Megumi calmed down and replied seriously: “I think Kitakami Yoru-san, trying so hard like that, doesn’t look like a criminal.”
“Besides, Kasumigaoka Utahas-senpai isn’t without direct evidence either, right?”
….”
“Thank you.”
Kitakami Yoru looked at Kato Megumi as if trying to memorize her, and thanked her seriously.
A faint joy and an indescribable emotion arose in his heart.
He was glad that someone believed in him.
This girl, she’s really great!
Actually, Kato Megumi had another reason for believing in Kitakami Yoru.
Because lonely people attract other lonely people, and they understand each other better.
The seemingly innocent Kato Megumi had unspoken troubles.
Her name was ordinary, without any distinctive features, and she was easily overlooked.
In class, after spending half a year or even a whole year with her classmates.
Many people couldn’t remember her name or who she was.
Kato Megumi found this very troubling.
“No need to thank me, it wasn’t your fault, Kitakami-san, right?” The girl replied.
“Well… I’ve been thinking about chasing after the culprit all along because I had a little clue.”
“I was too nervous and couldn’t remember it at that moment.”
Kitakami Yoru looked forward, gazing at the hazy street view.
“Huh?” Kato Megumi turned her head curiously.
“That night, after everyone went to sleep, I took a shower in the dormitory. No one was awake.”
“When I stepped out of the shower, I noticed that there were lights from cell phones flickering around my tent because someone wanted to bully me and destroy my tent or something like that…”
“I quickly ran back, and I must have scared them off, as the lights disappeared soon after. I didn’t notice anything unusual at the time.”
“It’s possible; the culprit could be someone who simply woke up early in the morning…”
“Recalling that, Kitakami Yoru observed Kato Megumi’s expression.”
“Unexpected discovery.”
“Kato Megumi’s eyebrows gradually furrowed, with a hint of doubt in her eyes.”
“And… uncertain?!?”
“You… do you know something?!” Kitakami Yoru asked nervously.
“Ah, sorry, I just remembered some things… I don’t know anything.” Kato Megumi hesitated and replied apologetically.
“Kitakami Yoru’s face clearly showed disappointment. He sighed and lowered his head.”
“Sure enough, finding clues and the culprit isn’t that easy.”
“After walking a bit more, Kato Megumi sent Kitakami Yoru to the train station.”
“As they parted ways, Kitakami Yoru stood at the entrance of the station and hesitantly asked Kato Megumi’s name.”
“Today, he was really grateful for her help and willing to trust her.”
“KitaKami-san, my name is Kato Megumi.” Kato Megumi replied somewhat reluctantly.
“She didn’t tell Kitakami Yoru her name because she thought it was troublesome and unnecessary.”
“Anyway, Kitakami Yoru wouldn’t remember her anyway.”
“Maybe tomorrow, the day after, she would forget about her weak presence.”
“Thank you, Kato-san.” Kitakami Yoru nodded and boarded the train with his black cat and luggage.
“Goodbye.”
“Ah, I really envy the popular Kasumigaoka Utaha-senpai.”
“Kato Megumi sighed softly as she held her umbrella and turned around.”
“Compared to the dazzling Kasumigaoka Utaha, I’m just a nobody.”
