    Heroine Regret 16

    Edited by: Tiny Fan Fiction

    Let’s call you San-san.

Thanks to Kato Megumi for sending Kitakami Yoru to the station.

On the way home by train, the rain stopped, and Kitakami Yoru safely returned home.

It’s just that the cat in his arms was a little restless.

    But it’s okay.

This isn’t a completely wild cat; the tag on its neck indicates that this cat was once someone’s pet.

Now it might be abandoned or escaped and can’t find its way back home.

Cats like this have a much lower level of wariness towards humans and are easy to tame.

After Kitakami Yoru changed his shoes and closed the door, he put the fat cat down and let it frolic freely.

However, this fat cat was a little more unexpected than Kitakami Yoru had anticipated.

It stood by the entrance, staring at him with wide eyes without running away or hiding.

Kitakami Yoru didn’t have time to pay attention to the fat cat; he entered with a bag in hand, and the cat curled up peacefully in the corner.

After putting his purchased review books and seasonings away, Kitakami Yoru returned to the entrance and caught the fat cat:

“Well? Do you know that you’re being adopted?”

“So you don’t struggle or resist?”

    “Meow~”

The fat cat meowed twice, letting itself be grabbed by the scruff of its neck.

Kitakami Yoru brought the cat into the bathroom, placed a basin of water on the floor, and carefully put it inside.

Instead of struggling, the cat jumped right in and shook its body.

“Well, hold on a moment. Let me see what you’re called.” Kitakami Yoru unexpectedly chuckled and gently reached out to touch the cat’s head.

    “Meow~”

The fat cat meowed once, with amber eyes wide and round, swatting at Kitakami Yoru with its paw.

“You can keep me as a pet, but don’t touch my head!”

This cat was still somewhat wary of strangers.

    So…

Kitakami Yoru had to sneak up from below, pressing one hand on the cat’s belly and reaching for the small tag around its neck.

The tag was made of brass, dirty, and heavily worn.

    “Scratch… “

Rubbing the dirt off the tag with his fingers, the engraved information was already blurry.

“A string of Arabic numerals, some of which are unclear; it should be the original owner’s phone number…

“And… what does this number mean?”

Above that string of Arabic numerals, there was a small inscription, almost entirely worn away.

    Only the character “San” remained.

“Is that the name of your original owner? No… or is it your name?”

    Kitakami Yoru muttered.

Soon, gently stroking the fur of the fat cat in his hand, he remembered that today was Wednesday.

Right now, it was also three o’clock.

“How about calling you San-san? What do you think?”

    “San-san?”

The chubby hand petted San-san, who seemed very comfortable and closed its eyes.

    “San-san is a little female cat~”

Kitakami Yoru picked up the flower shower and body wash from the side and started bathing San-san.

San-san was smart, knowing that the human in front of her wouldn’t hurt her, so she enjoyed the bath and cooperated well.

But after the bath, the naughty fat cat ran away as soon as its fur was dried, not letting herself be touched again.

    “I’ll take a bath too.”

Kitakami Yoru complained and turned on the heater, taking off his clothes.

Looking at himself in the mirror, with no clothes on and covered in rolls of fat, he couldn’t help but clench his teeth!

The only consolation was that a certain part of him was indeed strong.

Just like the comparison between his body and others’.

    “Kasumigaoka Utaha! Shinomiya Kaguya!”

Kitakami Yoru punched the wall hard!!!

After the bath, Kitakami Yoru came to the living room.

During these days, he hadn’t stopped for a moment.

He spent almost all his time buying furniture and decorating his favorite living room with the least amount of money.

The cozy living room and layout decoration were not like when he first rented the place.

San-san, who was slept in the corner of the sofa.

Kitakami Yoru decided not to disturb it and went to the kitchen to get a bottle of sugar-free, fat-free oolong tea, sitting beside it, watching as it contemplated.

To be honest, he had thought about getting a cat on impulse.

Kitakami Yoru didn’t know much about raising cats; he just knew that cats couldn’t eat human food and could eat fish, chicken, etc.

They also needed regular vaccinations and deworming, which was good for both the cat and the owner.

Besides that, he wasn’t sure about anything else.

Since there were no conditions at home for now, he planned to take San-san to a nearby pet store when he had time to handle these matters.

    “Knock knock~”

The door was knocked, and then there was Kagura’s polite voice from outside.

Kitakami Yoru rushed over in slippers to open the door and saw Gabriel standing there.

She was short, only reaching his chest.

“I’m quite tall; I was 176cm last year and have already surpassed my peers.”

Muttering to himself, Kitakami Yoru looked at Gabriel curiously.

“Kitakami-san, can I ask you about school stuff?”

“Tomorrow is the first day of school; I just came here and realized that I don’t understand many things…

Gabriel smiled a little embarrassedly, twirling her golden hair with her fingers.

“Sure, no problem. Do you want to come in?” Kitakami Yoru blinked his big eyes.

    “Great, thanks!” Gabriel entered directly.

    Kitakami Yoru: “…???”

“Forget it; Gabriel is really carefree and not afraid of me at all…

Looking at the petite, cute-looking Gabriel, who was hugging San-san, he looked at himself.

Is she not afraid of him being mischievous?

Closing the door, Kitakami Yoru went to the kitchen and brought out a drink and fruit to entertain Gabriel.

Returning to the living room, he found Gabriel holding San-san in her arms, gently rubbing her face against it.

“Kitakami-san, is this your cat? When did you get it?” Gabriel asked curiously.

San-san didn’t seem wary of strangers; she let Gabriel pet her and would meow occasionally.

“I just found it and adopted it. It’s friendly towards you but still wary of me.”

Even the mother cat disliked him?

“Oh, that’s easy. Later, I’ll help Kitakami-san by using a little bit of power; Heaven won’t know.”

    Shinomiya Family Mansion, Kaguya’s room.

The maid Hayasaka, with golden hair in a side ponytail, held a stack of documents without making a sound.

She appeared silently behind Kaguya, startling her.

    “Hayasaka?” Kaguya asked.

“Sorry, Kaguya-sama, you were too engrossed; I’ve found the information.”

“I don’t care about that dead otaku stuff; just tell me the result.

“No suspicious points were found. Kitakami Yoru had similar suspicions in elementary and middle school, but they couldn’t be verified.”

“He himself has no abnormalities; DNA wasn’t checked, but it can’t rule out the possibility of him being the culprit or not.

    Hayasaka skipped over unnecessary information.

The document contained Kitakami Yoru’s family details, including underwear sizes, and even his online shopping records and browser history for the past year.

Hayasaka had looked through everything carefully without missing a detail.

    Privacy!

As a human, the most important thing is privacy!

And so, without any hesitation, it was placed in front of Shinomiya Kaguya and Hayasaka Ai!

“I can almost be certain that you haven’t been hurt at all.” Hayasaka Ai finally stated with conviction.
