    Eriri’s Unusual Day

    Thursday.

Shu-chii Academy’s opening day, today was unusually nice weather.

The sun was shining brightly, the wind gentle and the day beautiful.

Countless high school girls full of youthful energy could be seen everywhere – on trains, in cafes, on streets and alleys.

    “Ah~”

Eriri alone, yawning, walked into the grand and solemn Shu-chii Academy gates.

Her dark circles were a bit heavy, so her makeup was slightly thicker than usual.

    Recently.

Due to some minor troubles, she hadn’t slept well and wasn’t in her best state.

This even caused her to almost fall while turning a corner on her bike.

Although Eriri’s father was a diplomat, and her family had a distinguished background.

Her ancestral home in the United Kingdom made Spencer a top-tier millennial noble family that had even produced a Prime Minister.

But, Eriri’s father didn’t like to make things special.

Eriri attended public schools for elementary and middle school, only transferring to Shu-chii Academy for high school.

She didn’t have a car like many other girls; Eriri came by herself.

Since it was the start of the school year.

Eriri was surrounded by many first-year students who were curious about Shu-chii Academy.

Like Granny Liu entering a grand garden, she looked around and chatted with others.

Eriri just felt it was annoying and wanted to finish her registration quickly so she could go home.

    “Hey, isn’t that Eriri-san?”

    “Eriri-san……”

As she walked, two female club members from the Art Club caught up to Eriri.

    “Good morning.”

Eriri forced a smile but couldn’t stop her sleepy body from yawning.

Eriri, who was usually cool and aloof in front of others, quickly covered her mouth.

Luckily, these two club members were familiar with her.

“Eriri-san didn’t sleep well,” said the girl with a bun hairstyle.

“Good morning, Eriri-san,” greeted the long-haired club member.

After some casual greetings, the three walked together.

Seeing that Eriri was sleep-deprived and distracted, these two club members started chatting among themselves.

“Did you hear? Kasumigaoka Utaha-senpai’s undergarments and stockings were stolen during the spring outing a few days ago!”

“Yeah, it started as a rumor spread privately, but then someone posted it on the Shu-chii Academy Forum, and it blew up!”

“The administrator deleted the post, but it was too late; the rumors had already spread widely!”

“Yeah, I heard from others that the culprit is Kitakami Yoru, a 2nd-year student like us. He’s a deadbeat and quite disgusting…”

Walking beside the two female club members, Eriri paused her steps and quietly pricked up her ears.

“Even more disgusting is that someone wants to find him; an anonymous person offered a million yen to buy Kasumigaoka Utaha-senpai’s worn stockings.” The girl with pigtails spoke with disgust.

“Wow, it’s so disgusting. Many guys must be thinking about nasty things; they’re so depraved!” The long-haired girl pretended to look disgusted.

“There are also rumors that someone wants to teach him a lesson and beat him up!”

“Some people even envy him; it’s so disgusting.”

“Do you know how the school will handle this? It’s a serious issue, they should expel him, right?”

“I’m not sure…. Wait… I remember Eriri-san, you were in the same spring outing team as Kasumigaoka Utaha-senpai, right?”

The girl with pigtails looked at Eriri and asked curiously, “Eriri-san, you were there, surely you know something?”

    “Huh?!……”

Eriri was startled and stiffened her head, not knowing what she was thinking.

“I have no idea about this; I’m not interested. You asked the wrong person.” Eriri turned her head slightly and replied.

She couldn’t help but subtly observe the expressions of her two classmates.

“It’s a shame; if the school expels someone for this, I know they’ll hate it!”

“I agree. They should arrest him and let everyone know; ideally, publish it in my newspaper. I’ll have my father print a million copies!”

The girl with pigtails and the long-haired girl were excitedly talking as they walked towards Shuujin Academy.

    “So… Was he expelled?”

    “I think…. Expelling him…. It’s unlikely.”

Eriri turned her head and asked hesitantly.

The girl with pigtails and the long-haired girl didn’t notice Eriri’s state; if they did, they wouldn’t care.

“Eriri-san, you’re just too kind. Expelling him isn’t excessive at all!”

“But…. There’s no direct evidence proving he’s the culprit?” Eriri weakly retorted.

“Oh well, it doesn’t matter now. This deadbeat is done for!” The long-haired girl sighed and rested her cheek on her hand.

    “How is he done for?”

Eriri widened her clear blue eyes, curious and eager.

    “Haha, of course…”

The long-haired girl laughed and sighed, looking very regretful but full of schadenfreude.

“You see, this deadbeat is disgusting; no one likes him.”

“He stole Kasumigaoka Utaha-senpai’s stockings and underpants. Does he dare come to school?”

“Even if he does, everyone hates him; whether it’s us girls or the guys, can he have a good time? He’ll be bullied and feel like he’s been stripped bare. He’ll probably drop out.”

“One person insults him, bullies him; he can’t handle being pointed at by a thousand people, feeling exposed. He’ll surely quit in shame.”

“Ah ha, by then, his life is finished.” The girl with the bun chimed in.

“Thump thump thump—” Eriri’s heart beat.

“It’s all settled, he might have already been unable to handle it, such immense mental pressure, maybe he would become mentally ill, suffer from mental fragmentation or something…”

“Right, there are many middle-aged salarymen who jump in front of trains outside. Maybe he can’t take it and suddenly commits suicide, it wouldn’t be strange.”

“Suicide is so common in our country, too many people follow suit, rather than suffer, it’s better to be liberated sooner.”

    “Suicide… also… too…”

Eriri took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling as she tried to join the conversation.

But her voice was too quiet, and she gradually fell silent again.

The girl with the bun and the long-haired girl chatted more and more excitedly, not noticing Eriri’s strangeness.

After a while, the three parted ways under the Teaching Building.

Today was the first day of school, but there were no classes.

But they had to go for registration, attend the opening ceremony, and collect new textbooks and uniforms.

It would probably last until noon before they could go home.

There were no classes in the afternoon, with formal classes starting tomorrow.
