The late delivery guy ran under the rain
Kitakami Yoru was glad he brought an umbrella and hurried back home.
“The rain is getting heavier; luckily I came back quickly.”
“Click──” Key inserted into the door, Kitakami Yoru put away his umbrella and quickly ducked inside.
The wind blew raindrops onto the door, leaving traces.
“Meow meow~” In the afternoon, San-san became more active.
Seeing Kitakami Yoru return, he ran from the living room to greet him.
“I’m back.” Kitakami Yoru smiled, picked up San-san, and weighed him.
Wow, he had become a ball of fluff, was this his normal size? San-san also rubbed against Kitakami Yoru affectionately.
“I need to take a shower first, get clean before hugging you.” Kitakami Yoru went to the bathroom, turned on the heater.
Then he went to the kitchen and opened the fridge.
“There aren’t many ingredients left, I don’t want to go out in this rain, let’s just do Supermarket Delivery.” Kitakami Yoru looked at it and closed the fridge again.
Holding San-san back in the living room, Kitakami Yoru turned on the TV and took out his phone.
After refreshing the app, he placed an order.
He bought high-quality weight loss ingredients, clean meat, and some cat treats.
“Yuki said if I had something to do, I could go find her at the Service Club, but I don’t want anything to happen to her.” Kitakami Yoru finished ordering and petted San-san’s fur from head to tail.
A strong wind howled past, and the rain outside grew heavier.
Kitakami Yoru hurried to close all the windows in the house.
Through the window glass, streaked with rain, he could see a white blur outside.
“I hate rainy days and hot weather too.” Kitakami Yoru locked the windows and went to the bathroom.
While bathing, he first looked in the mirror, trying to find the changes in his body after losing seven kilograms.
But no matter how he looked, he couldn’t find any difference.
Kitakami Yoru knew that he needed to lose at least 40 pounds before he could see a change in his body.
He lingered for a bit and took a bath.
After getting clean, dressed, and returning to the living room, Kitakami Yoru found out that Supermarket Delivery was already ten minutes late.
He wasn’t in a hurry; the heavy rain outside was normal for causing delays.
Bored, she held San-san and watched society news on TV.
After a while, there was a knock on the door mixed with the sound of rain and wind.
Kitakami Yoru turned off the TV and listened carefully before going to open the door.
“I’m very sorry, I’m late. Here is your item.”
When he opened the door, Kitakami Yoru was surprised.
The strong wind and heavy rain outside were sweeping everything away.
A girl with a motorcycle helmet, wearing a reflective vest that said “Supermarket Delivery,” was bowing at the doorstep with two large bags in hand.
“Oh, it’s okay.” Kitakami Yoru replied as he came back to his senses.
The strong wind blew past, with raindrops hitting his face.
It was cold and refreshing.
Kitakami Yoru shivered from the cold.
The wind, rain, and low temperature outside were all extreme.
“I’m extremely sorry; it was raining too heavily, causing a delay of seventeen minutes.” Aoyama Nanami replied after receiving confirmation before handing over the bags.
The smile on her face froze as she recognized the person in front of her.
She knew who he was.
“He… is the pervert otaku that stole Kasumigaoka Utahas senpai’s stockings and panties, right?”
The change in her expression was not missed by Kitakami Yoru.
Under the reflective vest was a girl’s uniform from Shuchiiin Academy.
“Are you a classmate?”
He must have recognized her.
“Well, thank you.” Kitakami Yoru sighed and took his two large bags.
“But… can you check the items for missing or damaged goods before confirming delivery?” Aoyama Nanami reminded him nervously.
She was nervous about being in front of the pervert otaku.
And she was worried that Kitakami Yoru would give her a bad review and complain to the supermarket.
She thought that under these circumstances, the supermarket wouldn’t punish her.
But she wasn’t sure.
A punishment would mean a deduction from her delivery fee.
She had earned a scholarship to Shuchiiin Academy with her excellent grades.
But the voice actress school and living expenses, miscellaneous fees, just kept piling up, making her feel suffocated.
Especially the increasingly expensive voice actress school.
“No problem.” Kitakami Yoru casually flipped through his bag and replied, just about to close the door.
That’s when he noticed.
Aoyama Nanami was wearing a reflective vest and Shuchiiin Academy uniform, looking extremely thin.
And her entire body seemed soaked wet.
Raindrops slid down her neck.
The black uniform, now damp, wasn’t that obvious, so Kitakami Yoru didn’t notice it right away.
She wasn’t wearing a raincoat either.
Her face was pale, her body shivering slightly from the cold, and she was trying hard to smile.
Countless raindrops, meant to hit the door, were now caught by the thin-bodied Aoyama Nanami.
“Is there still something?”
The worried Aoyama Nanami asked anxiously.
“It’s raining heavily, I’m really sorry, please don’t give me complaints and bad reviews.”
“I’m truly sorry…”
The girl bowed again, looking slightly flustered.
She kept bowing and apologizing.
“If you don’t want complaints or reviews, then I have to threaten you, hehe…”
The manga plot flashed through his mind before being quickly dismissed.
“You’re a student from Shuchiiin Academy, I see your uniform, and you must know me, right?”
“I saw all your previous expressions.”
Kitakami Yoru asked in a gentle tone.
“Ah… yes…”
Aoyama Nanami’s heart skipped a beat, she closed her eyes and nodded painfully.
It’s over.
He must be angry at me for my previous expression, right?
It was all the rumors from school; I didn’t know, so many people spread it, it wasn’t intentional…
I’m going to be complained and reviewed.
It’s my fault, being late due to rain isn’t an excuse, and I showed that reaction!
While regretting in her heart, Aoyama Nanami secretly raised her eyes to check Kitakami Yoru’s reaction.
“You look like you don’t have a raincoat, you’re soaked through. Would you like me to get you one?”
Just then, Kitakami Yoru hesitated and spoke up.
He didn’t want to get involved, fearing that if he helped someone, they might be scolded behind his back for being a dead shut-in with ulterior motives.
The girl in front of him was getting wet and cold, and she had no connection to him; she even delayed delivering his order.
But Shuuchiin Academy is a top-tier prestigious school.
Do the students there need to come out in this storm and rain to deliver takeout?
Are their family circumstances that bad?
It must be fellow mixed-attending students like himself.
Besides donations, good grades, or various talents, there’s nothing else for mixed-attending students.
As they were both mixed-attending students, Kitakami Yoru thought about helping the other person.
The one standing in front of him wasn’t Kasumigaoka Utaha or Shinomiya Kaguya.
He still had a basic sense of sympathy.
He was a kind person, maybe not that kind anymore, just a bit chubby and shut-in.
He never thought about going back to being normal; there’s always something better.
The raging wind and heavy rain outside were truly terrifying.
