    Heroine Regret 34

    Edited by: Tiny Fan Fiction

    The lost puppy

The girl at the door thought that Kitakami Yoru would come with an annoyed face and blame her.

But instead, he asked if she needed a raincoat?

A hint of hesitation flashed in Aoyama Nanami’s eyes.

The strong wind blew, carrying many raindrops and hitting her from behind.

She didn’t have a raincoat, only an umbrella.

Although she didn’t need to continue with the delivery work, she still had to go home.

    The umbrella was useless.

Couldn’t she find a dark alley and shiver in the corner?

    “Then… thank you~”

    “Wait a moment.”

Kitakami Yoru took two bags and went back inside, put them on the living room table, then went to his room, opened the closet, and took out his rain suit and a clean white towel.

    At the door.

After Kitakami Yoru left, Aoyama Nanami moved closer to the wall, trying to block some of the wind and rain with the balcony corridor.

The door was open, revealing a small gap.

Hesitating for a moment, Aoyama Nanami leaned on the door and quickly peeked inside.

She was feeling complex emotions now.

“Kitakami-san is known as a stalker and thief in school, isn’t he?”

“Is he just annoying or disgusting? Is his mind full of bad thoughts?”

“But now, it seems like… not that person.”

Aoyama Nanami’s teeth chattered and trembled as she felt cold.

“I might have judged him based on his appearance…”

She had just given Kitakami-san such an expression, it wasn’t right.

Aoyama Nanami thought about the look she gave Kitakami Yoru before and her initial fear, panic, and disgust.

    “Did I hurt him?”

    He could see it.

And he was still willing to help her.

She swore that these were just instinctive reactions, beyond her control.

As the girl thought about it, Kitakami Yoru came out with something in his hands.

Aoyama Nanami moved her body away nervously and pressed her ear close to the door.

The footsteps were getting closer, Aoyama Nanami’s mind was a bit confused and nervous.

Yoru stopped at the entrance and hesitated.

Listening to the sound of the storm and heavy rain outside, he picked up his raincoat and thought about wet Aoyama Nanami.

    “Is a towel enough?”

“She’s soaked to the bone; she’ll definitely catch a cold and might get a fever. And with the weather outside, one raincoat isn’t enough.”

“Should I ask her? Let her in to wait out the rain?”

“Forget it. It’s probably better not to, she might think I have ulterior motives; after all, I am a disgusting, fat otaku…”

Yoru stood at the entrance, talking to himself.

    Outside, under the raging storm.

Aoyama Nanami was pressed against the door; she couldn’t hear Yoru’s mumbling clearly, but she got the gist of it.

    “What have I done…”

    “I…

A strong feeling of guilt filled Nanami’s heart.

The next second, Yoru opened the door and startled her.

“North… Kitakami-san…” Nanami shivered as she was thin and frail.

It could be from the cold, or something else, or both.

    “Here.”

“Thank you… I’ll return it to you.”

    She wanted to apologize.

    But Yoru closed the door.

    “…”

Nanami was taken aback, and when she realized what had happened, she took the raincoat and found a clean white towel inside.

She nodded gratefully and hurried to the hallway of the apartment building.

The raging storm was finally kept at bay.

Nanami removed her motorcycle helmet, placing it on the stairs.

She was soaked to the bone, including her underwear and petticoat.

    “Achoo.”

    Nanami sneezed suddenly.

She quickly used the towel to dry her wet face and body.

But she couldn’t stop thinking about Yoru.

“Yoru doesn’t seem that fat, he’s not as bad or ugly as people say. Maybe I was wrong?”

“I should return the raincoat and apologize to him…

“There must be some misunderstanding about Yoru, otherwise he would have been expelled by now.”

Aoyama Nanami pulled a towel from her own lower body and wrung it with both hands.

    Splash~

A small stream of rainwater dripped down from the white towel.

In her heart, she felt extremely sorry and guilty towards Kitakami Yoru, thinking that she needed to find a way to make amends and do something for Kitakami Yoru in order to feel at ease.

Aoyama Nanami’s complicated emotions seemed to affect her perception of the outside temperature.

At this moment, it didn’t seem so cold anymore.

Afterwards, she folded the towel, put on a thick raincoat, and rushed out in the heavy rain.

“The afternoon shift work ended on Friday, if it rains tomorrow and the day after, that’s two and a half days of income lost.”

“Next week, I can only go to the supermarket at night to grab discounted food, eat a little less in the morning…

Rushing out in the heavy rain, Aoyama Nanami began to think about herself again.

Closing the door, Kitakami Yoru simply treated this incident as a small episode.

    He didn’t care at all.

Carrying two bags of groceries, he went to the kitchen and put them in the refrigerator.

Then he cooked his own low-fat dinner.

He fed San-san a little food, rested for a while, and started exercising.

Kitakami Yoru knew his current weight wasn’t suitable for intense cardio, so he mainly did planks, hill sprints, and jumping jacks.

After doing these exercises and some strength training, an hour passed.

Exhausted, Kitakami Yoru collapsed on the bed, it was barely eight o’clock.

Thinking about adding Kato Megumi to his line today, he felt excited and rubbed his hands together, smiling foolishly.

He nervously sent a greeting message.

Kitakami Yoru wasn’t good at chatting with girls.

    Soon, Kato Megumi replied…

    The next day, Saturday.

After the rain, the sky cleared up.

Kitakami Yoru woke up early, exercised, had breakfast, and cleaned the house.

Since Kato Megumi was coming tomorrow, Kitakami Yoru planned to have lunch at home today.

With time to spare, Kitakami Yoru finished his homework and reviewed half an hour of lessons.

Around dinner time, Kitakami Yoru left the apartment and took a train back to Shinagawa District.

    Lunchtime.

Kitakami Yoru’s family of three gathered for dinner at the dining table.

The lunch was very rich, but Kitakami Yoru was somewhat absent-minded.

On the TV, it showed the rising stock prices of companies under the Shinomiya Group and the flattery from the council members.

Even his father’s financial venture company had a share in the Shinomiya Group.

Thinking that Shinomiya Kaguya was the eldest lady of the Shinomiya Group, Kitakami Yoru felt helpless.

He should hurry up and get along with Kato-san.

    That mysterious treasure chest…

After lunch, Kitakami Yoru went out for a walk, carrying some beef jerky.

Made by his mother Kitakami Megumi herself, it was clean and hygienic, low in fat and healthy, a snack for the weight loss period.

As he passed by a street, he waited for the traffic light to change.

A brown dachshund ran to his feet, squatting obediently, sticking out its tongue, looking up at Kitakami Yoru with effort to please him.

“Here…” Kitakami Yoru tore off a small piece of beef jerky and fed it to the dog.

“Oh my, I’m sorry.” A familiar voice came from a distance.

“Yuigahama-san?” Kitakami Yoru recognized the person who approached.

“It’s…it’s Kitakami-san, I’m sorry, Sabre didn’t scare you, did it?” Yuigahama Yui looked at Kitakami Yoru with an unnatural expression.

    This familiar yet strange classmate.

“No, goodbye.” Kitakami Yoru glanced at Sabre and walked away as the green light turned on.
