A fake confession
“Is this for me?”
Mrs. Yuigahama couldn’t have imagined that Kitagami Yoru would suddenly give her a bouquet of freshly cut, vibrant red roses.
These are roses….
“Thank you, Mr. Kitagami.”
With surprise and delight, Mrs. Yuigahama gently reaches out to take the bouquet of roses.
“Even at my age, I’ve never received flowers from anyone.”
She leans in close to the roses, taking a deep breath of their enchanting scent before saying with a dazed expression,
She only talked about love once before getting married.
“Wait? What about Mr. Yuigahama, the store owner’s husband?”
“Has he never given you flowers before?”
Kitagami Yoru initially planned to leave but stops curious.
“He?”
“We’ve been divorced for a while now. I haven’t seen Yui in ages.”
Mrs. Yuigahama struggles to recall that vague face and figure, which she’s long forgotten, showing no emotion.
That person was completely strangers, even with a hint of animosity towards her.
Abandoning herself and Yui.
“Oh… I’m so sorry. I really apologize.”
“I don’t know about this, Mrs. Yuigahama.”
Kitagami Yoru feels he’s spoken out of turn and quickly apologizes sincerely.
“Ah, no problem. I don’t mind at all.”
Mrs. Yuigahama smiled gently.
“Oh, so Yuigahama-san is a single parent… That’s really sad….”
Kitagami Yoru thought to himself inwardly.
“Thank you for the flowers. Would Kitagami-kun like to come in for a cup of coffee?”
Mrs. Yuigahama sniffed the fresh red roses, just one bouquet, not specially intended for her, but she was really happy about them.
“No, I have things to do.”
Kitagami Yoru politely declined with a glance toward the coffee shop.
It didn’t matter; there were only a few customers, and it was very quiet.
“Single… How does Yuigahama, the store manager, manage to look so young….”
As he looked away, Kitagami Yoru quickly darted a glance at Mrs. Yuigahama before hastening to leave this place of turmoil.
Returning to Shuchiin Academy, the delivery truck couldn’t enter the school grounds.
He could only use manpower and move them slowly.
“Luckily, the Student Council Building and the Teaching Building aren’t in the same location, and no one goes to the Student Council during lunchtime.”
“Otherwise, I’d be carrying a big bundle of roses, which would be awkward for others to see.”
Kitagami Yoru opened the back of the small van, gathered a large bouquet of roses, and returned to the Service Club.
When he came back…
Inside the Service Club, there were two familiar older people: Miura Yumiko and Ebina Hina.
These two must be either called over by Yuigahama Yui or just curious about coming along.
Crouching on the ground in a corner, she uses an air pump to fill the balloon with nitrogen gas.
Yukinoshita Yukino is tearing up paper strips.
“I’m back. This place only covers part of it.”
Kitagami Yoru gently pushes aside a small pile of colorful lamps on the ground, creating space and placing a rose on the floor.
“Now that we’re talking about it, why are we filling the balloons with gas if we’re planning to put rose petals inside?”
Standing straight up, Kitagami Yoru looks at Yuigahama Yui.
“Let’s do a dry run first. Let’s try out the balloon and the explosion device.”
Yuigahama Yui explains.
“There are more roses outside. You two shouldn’t go alone; help me bring some over.”
Kitagami Yoru looks at the four beautiful and stylish girls inside the Service Club, each with their own unique style.
“I won’t go.”
Yukinoshita Yukino seems uneasy about leaving Miura Yumiko to handle things alone, worried something might go wrong. She speaks up quickly.
“I’ll go instead.”
Miura Yumiko stands up, shooting a frustrated glance at Yukinoshita Yukino before retorting.
“I hope Miura-san doesn’t cause any trouble.”
Yukinoshita Yukino’s hands are constantly moving as she picks up the small彩灯。
“Yukinoshita, what are you doing? I came here with good intentions to help.”
Miura Yumiko responds irritably.
“Stop arguing. Let’s go, Miura-san.”
Kitagami Yoru looks worried, shaking his head at the recent events that have occurred in a short time.
“Cut….”
Miura Yumiko strode out of the Service Club, followed by Kitagami Yoru, and walked down the stairs slowly.
“Yukinoshita Yukino, what are you pretending to be…”
“It’s so annoying to look like this, ha…”
Holding the stairs with one hand, Miura Yumiko rolled up her blonde hair with the other hand, complaining in dissatisfaction.
“Okay, Miura-san.”
Kitagami Yoru followed behind and advised.
“Why do you care about me, you virgin!”
Miura Yumiko stopped, turned around, and glared at Kitagami Yoru.
Kitagami Yoru shrugged speechlessly. How much does Miura Yumiko like to call herself a dead virgin?
“Why, what’s wrong with being a virgin?”
“Miura-san, do you want to help me lose my virginity?”
Kitagami Yoru replied indifferently.
“I don’t, You yourself…”
“No….you don’t like Yukinoshita Yukino, do you?”
Miura Yumiko heard Kitagami Yoru’s words, and first trembled in anger, and then thought of this.
“I like her.”
Kitagami Yoru admitted it openly.
Hmm…
He’s such a cute girl, he really likes her.
“It’s not surprising you’re talking about her.”
Miura Yumiko suddenly realizes and turns around.
Continue downstairs.
A few steps later, Kitagami Yoru floats over with a light tone: “I also like Miura-san. I really like cute girls.”
Miura Yumiko stumbles and almost falls, leaning against the wall to glance back.
You’re joking, playing with me?
Finally, Kitagami Yoru cleans up his tone.
“And also, I’m not a virgin. This is so arrogant. Do you have much experience?”
Kitagami Yoru mutters sarcastically under his breath.
Walking to the entrance of Shuchiin Academy.
Miura Yumiko, as if dismissing what happened earlier, shows a slight surprise with her hands over her mouth.
“Wow… There are so many roses. They’re really beautiful….”
“They smell so nice… Are these the ones that person bought for a confession?”
Without turning, Miura Yumiko picks up a bunch of roses and her eyes brighten slightly.
“So surprised? Maybe you haven’t received any?”
Kitagami Yoru shows mild curiosity and says casually.
“Why do you care about that?”
Miura Yumiko looks displeased but still speaks the truth.
Actually, she’s also a virgin. Her first kiss is still waiting.
There’s no way she’d just let it go.
“But he’s just being too straightforward,” she said, her tone laced with disbelief, as if the very idea of Kitagami Yoru being a guy was preposterous.
Too arrogant!
“Hayama? You aren’t going to not take me back?”
Kitagami Yoru tightened his grip on the bouquet of roses, his expression unreadable.
“No….”
“But why would he send me back?”
Miura Yumiko’s face went stiff, her voice tinged with confusion and loss.
“You don’t like him? Don’t tell me he doesn’t know.”
Kitagami Yoru clutched the roses tightly as he walked back into Shuchiin Academy.
“I… he…”
Miura Yumiko stood there, unsure of what to say, her mind racing.
Until Kitagami Yoru reached the top step of Shuchiin Academy’s gate, and she still hadn’t caught up to him, so he turned back.
“What’s wrong?”
Kitagami Yoru prompted, his voice urgent.
“Nothing… I mean, it’s not like there’s anything wrong.”
Miura Yumiko looked up, her expression a mix of sadness and realization.
“So he’s just the backup?”
Kitagami Yoru’s mind flashed with that word as he quickly turned away.
How, allow Miura Yumiko to attack herself as a “bitch,” but not permit her to retaliate?
“What are you saying?”
“Rookie, you’re repeating yourself!”
The words touched Miura Yumiko’s deepest pain. Hurriedly, she jumps and gets angry.
“Could it be….”
“I’m sorry, I made a mistake…”
Kitagami Yoru originally wanted to retort, but seems inappropriate for the situation. So he gives in.
“It’s just a ‘bitch,’ really….”
Miura Yumiko intentionally slams her eyes at Kitagami Yoru and quickly walks away.
“An unexpected discovery….”
“Hayama Hayato doesn’t like Miura Yumiko, but Miura Yumiko is single-mindedly pursuing him. Why does Hayama Hayato pretend to be confused?”
“Their relationship really is complex. They walk on thin ice, maintaining a mask and silently keeping the window open.”
Kitagami Yoru contemplates chasing after her.
A light push would shatter the group!
“That Hayama is something else. He’s rejecting his own beautiful, spicy girlfriend and asking who she likes? Who does he like?”
“Miura Yumiko is absolutely perfect and beautiful….”
Kitagami Yoru scans her side profile with a glance, thinking to himself.
Return to the Service Club.
Yukinoshita Yukino hangs up the small colorful lanterns on white drapes and turns on the lights.
The colorful lanterns scatter, releasing a soft glow.
At noon, the lighting is like that.
“Find something else to block the light.”
Kitagami Yoru puts down a rose and crosses his arms.
Miura Yumiko crouches by the balloon, not planning to get the rose again.
“I’ll go.”
Ebina Hina pushes her old glasses up and smiles cheerfully, saying:
Leaving the Service Club, heading towards the warm noon sun of autumn.
“Yumiko seems to have become less happy.”
Ebina Hina asks curiously when she goes downstairs.
“She wasn’t happy from the start, was she?”
Kitagami Yoru says faintly.
“It’s not about the same thing. What happened?”
Ebina Hina wonders.
“It’s not your little group’s business. I said she was Hayama Hayato’s backup, and she got upset.”
Kitagami Yoru awkwardly waves his hands.
“You’re being too much, talking so harshly!”
Ebina Hina surprises with wide eyes.
“I don’t like insincere people. That’s not kindness either.”
“You’re different from them, Ebina-san.”
Kitagami Yoru first smiled, then her expression became serious.
“There’s nothing different about it, is there?”
Ebina Hina showed no change in her expression.
“No, Tobe Kakeru likes you. You’re always using me as a shield, aren’t you?”
As Kitagami Yoru walked and spoke,
The hidden eyes behind the old-fashioned round glasses flickered with an unexpected glint.
Ebina Hina’s footsteps quickened: “Well, I admit that Tobe-san might like me. He’s been quite passionate.”
“But I never intended to use you as a shield.”
“Is that right?”
Kitagami Yoru turned her head.
“I was thinking about how, if we keep talking without any gaps, Tobe-san won’t have the chance to show interest in me.”
Ebina Hina looked determined as she spoke.
“So, it’s okay for Hayama to like someone else while knowing that Miura Yumiko likes him and pretends to be an idiot. You all pretend to be idiots too.”
“Just to maintain your little group, you do the same?”
Kitagami Yoru thought about it.
“Can we not talk about this?”
Ebina Hina shook her head and interrupted firmly.
When they reached the small van,
Ebina Hina’s reaction was no different from Miura Yumiko’s.
That girl doesn’t like having a car full of vibrant red roses.
Don’t say that sending flowers is old-fashioned.
How many people in this world have never received a bouquet of fresh flowers?
For most people, receiving flowers for the first time is a great surprise.
After three trips back and forth, they finally managed to take all the red roses back.
Yukinoshita Yukino carefully plucked the rose petals and stuck them randomly on the white backdrop using glue.
Yuigahama Yui took some of the rose petals and put them into a balloon, then blew it up.
The balloons were tied together with strings and floated above the ceiling.
They ended up spending almost an hour and a half.
After finishing everything, Kitagami Yoru placed the last rose in the center of the large heart-shaped rose arrangement and seemed satisfied as he stepped back.
“It’s really nice….”
Yuigahama Yui looked at her impressive creation with pride.
Compared to professional wedding setups, this is nowhere near.
However, it’s perfect for high school students to use for confessing, filled with emotion and a touch of warmth.
The scent of roses lingered in the small Service Club room, which was also decorated, continuing to fill the space.
“It’s really nice.”
Ebina Hina gasped, covering her mouth.
Kitagami Yoru used this opportunity to observe the four beautiful girls around him and seemed satisfied with their performance.
“It’s amazing! To avoid mistakes, let’s start practicing confessions now!”
Yuigahama Yui stepped forward, turned around, and along with Kitagami Yoru and the others, she clapped her hands in approval.
To avoid mistakes, trying once more is indeed safer, to prevent accidents during use.
Kitagami Yoru found that to be reasonable.
After saying that, he realized the four members of the Yukinoshita group were staring at him with unusual expressions.
“What’s wrong?”
Kitagami Yoru was still caught off guard.
Here, only he is male.
“Ah, no…”
At that moment, Yuigahama Yui looked slightly embarrassed and then bit her lip before saying:
“Kitagami-san, let’s try simulating a confession on me again!”
“Huh? Me?”
Kitagami Yoru pointed surprisedly at himself.
And then, this is the first time… it just ends like that?
“Only you, so I’m the one confessing…”
“Giggling… Of course, it’s all fake…”
Yuigahama Yui prepared herself mentally and smiled lightly at the stunning Kitagami Yoru.
Even though she knew it was fake, she hadn’t fallen for Kitagami Yoru, but she still felt shy.
“So… have you two discussed this beforehand?”
Kitagami Yoru kept turning back.
“You’re still taking it seriously? It’s just acting!”
Yukinoshita Yukino furrowed her brows, confused.
“Let’s go out.”
Miura Yumiko was holding Ebina Hina by the hand.
Yukinoshita Yukino finally exited slowly, closing the Service Club door.
In the next second, the atmosphere changed abruptly.
“Qu… ready yet? Kitagami-san?”
Yuigahama Yui was swallowing nervously, feeling an inexplicable fear within her.
It’s strange, why does it feel different from what I imagined?
“Th… I…”
Kitagami Yoru was staring at Yuigahama Yui, unsure of how to proceed.
The line of sight between them gradually overlapped.
Mrs. Yuigahama appeared.
“Yuigahama store… manager…”
