Multiverse Adventure – My Journey Begins in Danmachi 102

Chapter 102 Kotomine Kirei couldn’t help but let out a soft hum.

In Japan, having just stepped off the plane, he was abducted by a Magus Assassin.

Kotomine Risei lamented his own ill fortune.

Just as Tohsaka Tokiomi had sent his daughter and wife to a neighboring city, Kotomine Risei, with the thought of preserving the family inheritance in case both he and Kirei met with misfortune in the Holy Grail War, allowed his granddaughter to be left in a foreign land.

Yet, he suddenly heard that the church, due to Kirei’s wife’s suicide, regarded his granddaughter as a sin, and without a second thought, he rushed to bring her back using his authority.

Kotomine Risei was, of course, a priest who had adhered strictly to the church’s rules for decades without the slightest transgression, but perhaps with the passing of years and the approach of old age, he had gradually become more open-minded about many things.

Leaving aside the Kotomine family’s centuries of dedication, surely taking care of his granddaughter after serving God for decades was not a problem?

It wasn’t about altering or defying the teachings.

Even in Japan, he could punish according to the teachings!

    This was not shirking punishment!

However, unexpectedly, just after stepping off the plane and before he could bring his granddaughter home, Kotomine Risei witnessed the Tohsaka household under attack and hurried over.

It was because of this that Kotomine Risei was caught off guard and taken hostage by Emiya Kiritsugu from behind.

One should know that although Kotomine Risei was not an Agent and had no experience in assassination, his mastery of Bajiquan was even greater than his son’s, and in his younger days, he had dealt with more than a few Xenos who violated the teachings.

    Alas, a miscalculation.

Although he sighed inwardly, Kotomine Risei maintained his composure on the surface.

“Magus Assassin, Emiya Kiritsugu, is it? So you are the Master? The little girl at the seaside park yesterday was just a decoy… Although you are scorned as the shame of the Magi, your pursuit of no fame or fortune is indeed sincere. Now, for the Holy Grail, you would side with the Einzbern?”

Even with a gun pressed against Kotomine Risei’s back, Emiya Kiritsugu didn’t relax his guard, his other hand ready under his coat, gripping another handgun, always on high alert.

To be able to live a peaceful life in the Eighth Secretariat, a special department of the Church that collects Holy Relics, Kotomine Risei must have his own extraordinary abilities.

Not to mention Kotomine Kirei, who he is particularly concerned about, and whether he is secretly watching.

But Kotomine Risei’s words still managed to stir Emiya Kiritsugu.

Although he knew it was just a stalling tactic, it was the first time a stranger had seen through his thoughts without mocking him, except for those close to him.

Ugh, the people from the Mage’s Association use him and yet despise him – they’re truly despicable.

However, Emiya Kiritsugu didn’t let his emotions cloud his judgment, and he quietly gripped the Submachine gun in his hand.

“You don’t have the right to lecture me, Father Kotomine? You have 2 options: either hand over all your Command Spells and leave, or die here and I’ll take them by force.”

Emiya Kiritsugu was never one to delight in killing, and after spending time with Irisviel and her daughter, his heart had softened considerably, to the point where he had even considered abandoning his ideals and leaving Fuyuki City with them to live a quiet life.

A glint of light flashed in Kotomine Risei’s narrowed eyes as he let out a sigh and shook his head.

“Hah, hah, hah, I never thought I’d be in such a predicament – I suppose I have no choice but to hand over the Command Spells…”

Emiya Kiritsugu was taken aback by how smoothly things were going.

The Command Spell system was developed during the Second Holy Grail War, and many Magus had died without using up their Command Spells, which were then collected by the Holy Church.

Emiya Kiritsugu had no idea how many Command Spells Kotomine Risei possessed, but he estimated it to be around ten or more.

For a mere half-baked Magus like Emiya Kiritsugu, whose Servant was also quite temperamental, this was of great significance.

If he could achieve his goals without killing anyone, that would be for the best.

And although he spoke lightly of it, he actually had no idea how to obtain Command Spells from the dead.

Especially the Command Spell on the supervisor of the saint’s hall is protected by the divine word, and without the owner’s permission, it is actually impossible to extract the Command Spell through Magecraft.

If one can summon a Caster, perhaps they can rely on their superior Magecraft to steal it.

    But in reality, I’m just a half-baked Magus…

    No!

    There’s a trick!

But just that brief moment of distraction was enough to disrupt his thoughts, and his body, which was ready to pull the trigger, received a conflicting command and was a step too late.

In an instant, Kotomine Kirei’s body slid to the side, and his arm swung back like a whip, cutting towards Emiya Kiritsugu’s throat with a loud whooshing sound.

His rough, thick-skinned hands possessed the strength to crush steel and shatter stone.

    “Inherent time control… triple speed!”

At the critical moment, Emiya Kiritsugu activated his self-suggestion spell.

This was the Emiya family’s inherited Magecraft, which allowed him to accelerate time within a certain range of his Inherent Barrier, reaching the end of the universe and observing the Root.

Emiya Kiritsugu had simplified this complex and costly technique, limiting it to his own body.

By accelerating time for a second or 2, he could speed up his blood flow, the burning of his hemoglobin, and the movement of his muscles, allowing him to turn the tide of battle in his favor.

In an instant, the world seemed to come to a standstill, like a paused video, in Emiya Kiritsugu’s eyes.

Kotomine Kirei’s knife-hand strike whizzed past Emiya Kiritsugu’s nose, and in this slowed-down world, Emiya Kiritsugu retreated several steps while pulling the trigger.

As the bullet fired from the gun, he simultaneously released his Magecraft.

Although it only lasted for a few seconds, Emiya Kiritsugu still felt like his body was on fire, with every muscle from his head to his toes, from his skin to his heart, screaming in agony.

Enduring this intense pain, Emiya Kiritsugu didn’t even dare to blink, and he pulled out another handgun, which was also his Magecraft equipment, from his left hand, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Just before the submachine gun bullets could strike Kotomine Risei, a single round was already fired from the chamber.

The Origin Bullet, Emiya Kiritsugu’s ace in the hole.

Loaded with powder ground from Emiya Kiritsugu’s Rib, it was specially treated to puncture any defense forged from Mana.

Capable of using its ‘severing and connecting’ Origin to destroy a Magus’s Magic Circuit and then reconnect it at will, leading to utter ruination, it was a diabolical and Magus-piercing Offensive Art.

Emiya Kiritsugu commanded a cache of 66 Origin Bullets, 37 of which have been used to kill 37 Magi without a single miss.

Fixated on the bullet that burst from the barrel, watching it pierce Kotomine Risei’s chest…

That was how it was supposed to go.

But when the bullet struck Kotomine Risei’s chest, it caused fabric fragments to scatter, yet it made a clear, metallic ‘ping’ as if hitting a steel plate.

The invaluable Origin Bullet was deflected just like a regular bullet.

    “You’re too careless, Emiya Kiritsugu.”

As the shredded robes fell away, they revealed Kotomine Risei’s muscular and robust physique.

Emiya Kiritsugu, though somewhat lean, was considered tall among Japanese, but this old priest’s body was probably more than half as thick again.

This made Kotomine Risei’s aged face seem as out of place as a picture drawn on with graphic technology.

    What the hell is this?!

“So, don’t pick on the elderly, there will be retribution, you know.”

Kotomine Kotomine Risei clenched his fists, tensing all his muscles, and struck the Bajiquan Opening Move.

Just like how any Chinese elf female character in a Japan anime is always depicted with a qipao and a bun, Bajiquan is essentially synonymous with Chinese martial arts in the eyes of the Japanese.

Emiya Kiritsugu looked at Kotomine Kotomine Risei’s fists, which were a size larger than his own, and had no doubt that a single punch could shatter his stomach.

However, this was not the reason Kotomine Kotomine Risei could block bullets; the issue clearly lay in his right arm, which was covered in crimson markings.

    Those were Command Spells.

Kotomine Kotomine Risei viewed the Command Spells as a pure source of mana to enhance his Magecraft, causing the Origin bullet to arrive while the Command Spell, serving as the mana source, had already vanished, making it impossible to trace back to its Magic Circuit.

Seeing Kotomine Kotomine Risei’s expression, Emiya Kiritsugu guessed that he was still unaware that he had cracked his own ace move, and a bitter feeling welled up in his heart.

Noticing the hint of bitterness that flashed in Emiya Kiritsugu’s eyes, Kotomine Kotomine Risei’s lips curled into a slight smile.

“By the command of the Command Spell, Archer…”

Hearing Emiya Kiritsugu begin to summon his Servant, Kotomine Kotomine Risei remained calm and threw a punch!

Kid, the gun is fast beyond ten steps, but within ten steps…

    Huh?

What is this kid laughing about?

When Kotomine Kotomine Risei saw Emiya Kiritsugu stop chanting and a faint smile cross his face, his heart suddenly skipped a beat.

However, it was already too late.

In the grass far away, Hisau Maiya, who had been waiting for a long time, pulled the trigger, and the bullet shot towards Kotomine Kotomine Risei’s back.

To determine if an individual’s martial arts are just for show, one must first see if they particularly enjoy jumping in mid-air.

Those who love to jump around definitely cannot be considered martial arts experts, because while raising legs and jumping may be powerful and stylish, it means that their movements in mid-air are already fixed, making them unable to evade offensive arts.

The principle was already ingrained in Kotomine Kirei’s heart when he first began his Martial Arts training, but he had never felt it so deeply, so viscerally, as in this moment.

If he wasn’t in an Offensive Arts stance, he could easily dodge the Offensive Arts aimed at him.

But at this moment, his muscles, tense and strained in a single direction, were unable to change course.

As a result, Kotomine Kirei could only feel the bullet pierce his heart, his vision blurring as he frantically locked eyes with Emiya Kiritsugu, swinging his fist…

    “Bang!”

The heavy punch struck Emiya Kiritsugu, sending him flying backward like a broken sack, spraying blood from his mouth.

    “Cough, cough, cough…”

Emiya Kiritsugu’s vision plunged into complete darkness.

When it partially returned, he was met with agonizing pain in his abdomen.

After releasing a Healing Magecraft on his body, Emiya Kiritsugu was able to barely stand, staring at the corpses on the ground, letting out a slow sigh.

How could I get the Command Spell?

As Emiya Kiritsugu pondered, a sudden tension gripped his body.

He looked towards the bushes 50 meters away.

Among the bushes swaying in the cold wind, Emiya Kiritsugu saw a tall figure draped in a monk’s robes…

Even without seeing his expression, a palpable intent to kill emanated from the darkness, icy and sharp, almost ready to erupt.

But suddenly, an explosion erupted on the nearby street, casting a colossal light and shockwave that illuminated the entire Fuyuki City.

Being just 2 hundred and 30 meters away, the ground beneath their feet trembled violently, like a drumhead.

Both Emiya Kiritsugu and Kotomine Kirei swayed precariously, struggling to maintain their balance.

    We can’t fight here anymore…

Recognizing this, Emiya Kiritsugu, gritting his teeth against the pain, quickly retreated.

When Kotomine Kirei arrived, Emiya Kiritsugu’s figure had already vanished into the distance.

Emiya Kiritsugu was far inferior to Kotomine Kirei in terms of physical strength and speed.

If he wanted to pursue him, he could still catch up.

However, he didn’t choose to take another step forward, instead standing still in front of his father’s corpse, using his Breathing Technique to savor the scorching, gunpowder-scented wind.

It wasn’t until he discovered the Command Spell his father had left for him that the flames died down, and Kotomine Kirei felt a faint coolness on his face.

He had tears in his eyes.

Seeing the one he loved lying before him, it was only natural to feel sorrow and shed tears.

But at that moment, Kotomine Kirei felt a different, more intense emotion that left him bewildered and terrified.

    Joy and disappointment.

This emotion, which had been sealed away in his memories, was reminiscent of the scene where another woman he loved had died before his eyes.

When the woman he loved, who was terminally ill, took her own life, Kotomine Kirei had felt a stirring in his heart for the first time.

Couldn’t she have died a more miserable death?

Couldn’t he have been the one to end her life with his own hands?

Because it was too late by then, Kotomine Kirei had been praying in his heart for the past 3 years…

That he could impose the actions he couldn’t complete back then onto his father, who loved him just as deeply and yet didn’t understand him at all.

Why didn’t he kill his father with his own hands?

No, how could he think such a thing?

His heart was aflame, as if his Blood was boiling, and the pain was corroding Kotomine Kirei’s body and mind.

But in reality, he had long since realized that this individual, Kotomine Kirei, could only derive pleasure from the pain and misfortune of others.

“The soul seeks pleasure, just like a beast follows the Smell of Blood…”

The ruby-like eyes that seemed to reside in his heart made Kotomine Kirei shiver involuntarily.

    Pleasure?

At that moment, Kotomine Kirei finally understood the true nature of his soul.

It wasn’t enough, not nearly enough.

Simply seeing his father’s dead body wasn’t enough.

He wanted to create that kind of beauty with his own hands, even if it took his entire life, and he would pursue it to the ends of the earth…

Kotomine Kirei suddenly thought of his mentor, Tohsaka Tokiomi, and the oldest King of Heroes, Gilgamesh, who had enlightened him.

    Ah, what was he thinking?

Why did he need to go to the ends of the earth?

The answer was right in front of him.

A sly smile spread across his face, looking particularly obscure and sinister under the red glow of the Command Spell.

Ah, double the pleasure, double the joy!

Just thinking about that wonderful scene made Kotomine Kirei let out a low, amused hum.
