Chapter 33 Return to the Dungeon

As the morning sun rose, painting the sky with a warm glow, the chilly morning breeze grew stronger, and the white mist formed by the Breathing Technique almost obscured her view, but Riveria felt a chill run down her spine as she gazed at the golden-haired girl in front of her, a feeling that even the cold wind couldn’t match.

Not even her first-tier wide-range Offensive Arts Magic, ‘Ecstasy: Fimbulwinter’, could compare to the coldness she felt at that moment.

The World Tree was above all, and Riveria’s actions were a far cry from its teachings.

She had simply reacted subconsciously, without any intention of being indecent or improper, and she hoped that Ais hadn’t seen her actions.

If Ais had indeed witnessed her momentary lapse, Riveria could almost imagine Ais’s condescending smile and teasing tone, saying something like, ‘Riveria, I never thought you’d be this kind of Elf, always looking down on me with an air of superiority… how cute!’

The mere thought of Ais’s haughty attitude and mocking gaze made Riveria’s inner self, a green-haired wild girl, go berserk, rolling around and kicking wildly in bed.

    No!

Riveria clenched her fists, using the pain of her fingernails digging into her palms to calm herself down and regain her composure.

Taking a step back, she realized that it was all just her own speculation, and maybe Ais hadn’t seen anything at all.

Taking a further step back, even if Ais had seen something, she might not have understood its significance.

    Yes, that was it!

Embracing the spirit of the great tree, Riveria steeled herself, determined not to waver.

“Ais, what are you doing here so early in the morning? You shouldn’t be skipping sleep,” Riveria asked, trying to sound calm.

Ais looked at her with a serious expression, a huge question mark on her face, and Riveria was relieved that her own face still showed a hint of its usual composure, albeit with a faint blush.

“I came to practice my morning training…” Ais replied, waving her wooden sword.

She then glanced at Noah, who was lying on the ground, and asked, “What are you and Noah doing?”

Riveria’s tongue, usually adept at reciting magic incantations even in the most chaotic of battles, seemed to be tangled in a knot, and she stuttered, “W-we…”

It took her 4 or 5 seconds to regain her composure, but then her eyes lit up.

“Morning training! Yes, that’s it! I was giving him morning training, since he also has magic. We need to practice parallel incantations!”

Ais looked at Noah, still lying on the ground, and her big eyes were filled with confusion.

“Training parallel incantations, does that mean you have to knock someone unconscious?” Ais asked, her voice laced with skepticism.

Riveria couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder at the situation, and she thought to herself, ‘I’ve really learned something new today.’

The golden-haired girl’s words were like a BOOM!

that shook Riveria’s mind, making her realize that maybe she had been too harsh on Noah.

Indeed, it seemed that Riveria still had a lot to learn about being a mentor and a friend.

As she looked at Ais, Riveria felt a sense of gratitude towards the young girl, who had unknowingly taught her a valuable lesson.

And so, Riveria made a mental note to be more considerate and thoughtful in her interactions with others, just like the great tree that stood

    ### BEGIN 1

It’s such a great experience, the blond girl couldn’t help but sigh.

    ### END

    Well, that’s fine.

If someone asks me for help with Training Parallel Incantation in the future, I’ll know what to do.

Seeing Ais, who clearly had the wrong idea, Riveria bit her lip, feeling a twinge of guilt.

But if I argue now, it might just complicate things further, and I’d have to explain myself.

Anyway, I doubt anyone will ask Ais for help with Training Parallel Incantation…

With that thought, Riveria suppressed her nagging conscience.

At that moment, Noah, lying on the ground, let out a few low groans, covered his head, and slowly sat up, slumping on the ground.

“Huh, how did I… fall asleep?”

Confused, Noah met Riveria’s icy gaze, and a wave of pain shot through his head, instantly waking him up.

    “Ugh…”

Noah instinctively glanced at Riveria’s palm and the waist hidden beneath her robe.

Despite Riveria’s tall figure, her hands were surprisingly small, easily enveloped by Noah’s grip.

But what surprised him more was how much it hurt to get hit!

After a quick look, Noah nervously averted his gaze, feeling that if he looked any longer, Riveria would make him explode on the spot.

Then, Noah locked eyes with a pair of round, golden pupils.

“Huh? Ais? What a coincidence, what are you doing here?”

Ais hugged her short legs and tilted her head.

“Um, I came for morning practice. Noah, you…”

Seeing Ais and Noah, 2 troublemakers, about to start a conversation, Riveria felt a surge of anxiety.

If this gets out, what would Noah do if he found out?

“Oh? I never expected the serious and stern Riveria to have this side, how adorable!”

    No!

    Absolutely cannot let that happen!

    “Ais!”

Just as Ais and Noah were about to continue their chat, Riveria suddenly interrupted.

“Today, Noah and I are planning to explore the Dungeon. Would you like to come as a supporter?”

Her expression shifted from confusion to surprise, her eyes widening slightly, sparkling like precious gems.

Whatever she was thinking before was now completely forgotten by Ais.

Right now, all she could think about was that she could finally go to the Dungeon again!

Seeing Ais so happy that her flowing golden hair seemed to lift, Riveria quickly added,

“Just as a supporter, you’re not allowed to engage in battle!”

But Ais couldn’t take it, and with a swift turn, she rushed back into Twilight Manor.

“I’m going to change into my gear!”

After Ais left, only Noah and Riveria were left standing in front of Twilight Manor once again.

The difference was, Riveria had her arms crossed, gazing at the clearing sky, completely ignoring Noah as if he were air.

Although Noah wasn’t afraid of awkwardness, today was the day they were supposed to head into the Dungeon together, and if he ended up annoying Riveria, he doubted he could have a fun time fighting.

“By the way, Riveria, how did you know I was planning to go to the Dungeon today?”

Even though Riveria saw right through Noah’s attempt to change the subject, she didn’t plan on dwelling on the matter any further.

“Hmph, a 50 million Falle order – did you think Goibniu Familia would let you take the equipment without notifying me, the one footing the bill?”

    “Oh, I see.”

Mentioning this, Noah was at a loss for words.

All he could say was that being a freeloader meant he had no right to complain, and his pride wouldn’t let him speak up.

Seeing Noah fall silent, Riveria let out a quiet sigh of relief.

In reality, she hadn’t told the whole story – aside from the bill from Goibniu Familia, what was more important was that Airmid had informed Riveria about Noah’s purchase of medicine on credit.

However, Riveria wasn’t foolish enough to betray Airmid easily, as she still needed to rely on her to keep tabs on Noah’s movements.

Over the past week of magic lessons, although Noah hadn’t finished learning all the books on the shelves, he had already shocked Riveria.

Because she never expected Noah to learn all those lessons in such a short time – otherwise, it would make her look foolish?

But despite that, Noah’s progress had far exceeded Riveria’s expectations… in just 7 days, he had learned the content that the school provided for new Arcanists to learn over 3 years.

This only made Riveria more convinced of her judgment… Noah would surpass her at a speed she couldn’t even imagine, even surpassing the monsters of Zeus and Hera Familia.

But it was precisely this that made Riveria want to support Noah as much as possible during his early days as an adventurer.

In the Dungeon, the greatest danger was never the monsters, but the unknown… unknown territories, unknown monsters, unknown enemies… BOOM!

Since the Dungeon is alive, it will intervene when an Adventurer is at a disadvantage, rendering them hopeless, and it’s a BOOM!

    to their expectations.

It’s not uncommon for Advanced Adventurers to finish their activities on the Deep Floor, only to die on their way back due to carelessness on the upper floors, and that’s a real KABOOM!

    to their confidence.

Being strong doesn’t mean you’re immune to danger; in fact, the stronger you are, the more you’ll be accompanied by death, as Riveria, who witnessed the downfall of Zeus Familia and Hera Familia, can attest to with a sigh.

Although time is short, I’ll do my best, and with a sidelong glance at the silver-haired boy, the Elf Princess made a silent vow to herself, her heart pounding with a THUD.

After Ais changed into her Armor and came out with a huge backpack, the 3 of them left Twilight Manor in the chilly morning breeze, the door creaking with a CREAK.

They grabbed a bite to eat on the side of the road, packed some lunch, and then entered the Dungeon, ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead with a resolute CLANG.
