Chapter 43 Ryu-chan, Lilac Flowers of the Homeland, has opened up~
“Fall back, now!”
Due to his injured right leg, Goliath ran with a limp, his body swaying to one side.
If you were to watch from a distance, you couldn’t help but find it quite comical.
However, when this monster had you in its sights, and you saw its massive frame charging towards you, and felt the enormous shockwaves coming from the ground, it wasn’t so funny anymore.
At least, the girls from Asteria Familia couldn’t laugh, because they weren’t the silver-haired swordsman who had defeated Goliath head-on earlier.
Even the most shameless floor boss was still a floor boss, after all!
Its massive body type, extraordinary strength, and regenerative abilities made it almost impossible for a group of adventurers of the same level to take it down.
Although Asteria Familia had defeated Goliath several times before, those victories were based on careful planning and preparation beforehand.
But now, they had just finished a long expedition and were exhausted, only to be ambushed!
It wasn’t just anyone, either – there were Celty and Liana, 2 fragile Arcanists, and several rear guards who lacked close combat abilities!
Even if they were faced with a Minotaur, they would struggle to defend themselves, let alone a floor boss that even Ryu and the others didn’t dare to confront head-on!
If Goliath got close, there would definitely be casualties!
Without needing to be told, the girls of Asteria Familia quickly responded based on their years of coordinated teamwork and experience…
Ryu, Alise, and Kaguya, the 3 vanguard members, drew their weapons, intending to stall Goliath from the front.
Amazoness Iska, Werewolf Niza, and Human Noin covered the rear guards as they quickly retreated into the cave’s long slope.
Thankfully, they only needed to retreat into the cave to avoid Goliath’s offensive arts…
CRACK…
Just then, a sound that made everyone’s blood run cold echoed through the cave.
The voice sounded like the cold, malicious laughter of a hunter who had finally caught its prey after a long wait.
Ryu and the others looked up to see the crack.
On the ceiling of the cave, which had not been affected by any offensive arts or shockwaves, a crack had suddenly appeared.
Right on the heels of that, a catastrophic collapse occurred, and it was incredibly swift.
Although the falling rocks were just insignificant pebbles, the originally 3-meter-wide cave expanded several times in an instant.
Within less than ten seconds, Goliath had already covered the distance of over 3 hundred meters from the Wall of Wailing to the exit.
And in its hand, a colossal stone suddenly appeared, hurtling towards Asteria Familia like a cannonball, BOOM!
Moreover, it was unavoidable!
In the narrow cave, there was no room for dodging, and Goliath’s strength would be fully unleashed.
That colossal stone would crush them all to death inside the cave like a bullet sliding through a gun barrel.
In the blink of an eye, their shelter had turned into a death trap; the situation had changed so abruptly, it was almost laughable.
Ambush!
In an instant, everyone who witnessed this scene understood Goliath’s, or rather the Dungeon’s, intention.
Perhaps from the moment it was born, it had realized it wasn’t a match for Noah, so it set its target on other adventurers… namely, Asteria Familia.
Giving up on defeating the strong enemy, it aimed to inflict damage on the ‘mother’s’ enemies instead!
So, in the previously seemingly futile offensive arts, this Goliath had secretly grasped a stone in its hand, waiting for this moment!
And the originally quiet Dungeon had also delivered the fatal blow at the critical moment.
The Dungeon was alive!
It would patiently wait for the right moment, set up traps in secret, and seize the opportunity to push the mortals of the Lower Realm into the depths of despair when they least expected it!
This fact had been proven once again!
It was too late; someone would die!
As the image of his Familia teammates dying in agony flashed through his mind, Ryo’s brain went blank, and then a fierce flame ignited within him.
His body reacted before his consciousness caught up, and the Elf burst out of the cave, a green Mana aura erupting around him.
“Ryo!”
“Don’t!”
“Come back!”
Leaving his Familia teammates’ cries behind, Ryo, who knew he had no time to chant his Mana, prepared to forcibly stir up the Mana within him, causing it to explode in chaos.
It was like an Arcanist’s chant being disrupted, causing a massive Mana surge.
At least, it could buy her some Time!
As Ryu thought that, a strange phenomenon occurred.
Her consciousness accelerated, and Time seemed to stretch on forever.
Everything around her faded away, replaced by a pure white glow, and an unusual radiance appeared in the corner of her vision.
It was deep and crystal clear, beautiful yet ominous, like a sapphire or the Northern Lights.
That was the Electric Arc, a flash of lightning…
Although it was still far away, when a slight numbness and tingling sensation spread across her skin, Ryu’s instincts recognized its presence before her consciousness did.
And then, the aurora really appeared!
A blindingly bright flash of lightning that tore through her field of vision.
From a distance, it pierced through the sky, and before the Thunderous Roar could be heard, it had already reached her…
It was a long sword wrapped in Electric Arc plasma, dyed in a deep blue glow.
In an instant, the sword had completely pierced Goliath’s head and shattered the massive stone it had thrown.
Was she saved?
The sound of thunder that followed told Ryu that things weren’t that simple.
Both Goliath’s head and the stone that was flying through the air began to emit a deep red glow after being pierced.
Then, countless cracks appeared on their surfaces, and a brilliant light spilled out, illuminating the Elf’s eyes.
Oh no, I’m doomed!
I didn’t get crushed or beaten to death, but it seems I’m going to be blown to kingdom come?
And to make matters worse, it’s my own fault?
No way!
This is too embarrassing, too humiliating!
Will the Loki Familia replace their flag with mine?!
For a brief moment, Ryu’s regret over her own foolish actions far surpassed her fear of death.
Then, her world was engulfed in a scorching hot blast.
The plasma and heat rained down like a storm, and the dazzling light overwhelmed everything, sending Ryu tumbling into a world of pure white heat.
Her consciousness fell into an endless void, and the only thing that remained was a faint numbness and tingling sensation on her skin, reminding her that her body still existed.
But the expected pain of her body being burned didn’t come; instead, she felt a somewhat gaunt yet firm embrace.
Someone… saved me?
It might have been hours, or maybe just a few seconds.
When Ryu regained control over her body and her consciousness awakened, the first thing she smelled wasn’t the acrid smell that should have been left behind after the lightning storm.
But a fragrance.
It was refreshing and elegant, gentle and soothing, reminding her of her long-forgotten hometown… BOOM!
Under the lush canopy of the sacred tree, the clear stream in the forest flows gently, and the pure white flowers sway softly.
I wonder if the lilac I planted before leaving has bloomed?
Such sorrow rippled through my heart as I opened my eyes.
I locked eyes with a pair of deep blue… reminiscent of the shimmering polar ice… eyes.
Then, I felt a strange sensation at my waist.
“Huh?”
