Chapter 5 If I’m not embarrassed, then it’s someone else who should be.
When Ais called out “father” for this silver-haired Human, Riveria’s expression sharpened immediately.
She tightened her grip on her staff, “Magna Aivis,” ready to strike back at a moment’s notice!
Despite being an Arcanist, her staff was forged from “Enchanted Alloy” and “Imperial Saint Ore,” making it stronger than a typical First-Class Adventurer weapon.
If anyone underestimated Riveria’s Close-Combat Ability, they were in for a rough ride!
Even though she wasn’t very old… after all, she was still just a little girl in the Elven Race!
In any case, years of traveling had taught Riveria quite a bit about the darkness of HumanThe World.
Ais, being such a simple and adorable little girl, was an easy target for becoming a bad person!
The green-hair Elf’s expression said something, and Noah immediately felt a bit troubled.
Anyway, Noah had never been compared to a Savage Beast or a Cockroach in his lifetime. He was always seen as a butcher, a Demon, called cold-blooded and ungrateful, but he had never been labeled as a psychopath.
How do you say that? It’s like being feared and hated, yet still being compared to a Savage Beast or a Cockroach is entirely different feelings.
Thinking about this, Noah couldn’t help but lift the golden-haired girl, who was lying on him like a little dog, and look into her wide-eyed, vacant expression.
Damn you!
I’m only 17 years old; I’m still just a kid!
Even the hands of a girl haven’t held mine yet. You calling me “dad” is a bit much, isn’t it?
Well, women only get in my way when they slow down my sword speed…
But Noah wouldn’t hold a grudge against a girl who was covered in blood and conscious but confused.
“Little one, I can’t be your dad. Awake…”
After patting the girl’s face, Noah flipped her head over to look at the green-hair Elf, who had become more cautious and anxious due to his actions.
“Hey, do you recognize this Elf?”
After being slapped a few times by Noah, the golden-haired girl finally opened her bloodied eyes and looked at Riveria.
Seeing Ais drenched in blood, with her ghastly injuries on full display, Riveria felt a sharp pang in her heart. Waves of regret and guilt washed over her as she tightly gripped the staff in her hand.
“Ais! What’s wrong?”
The familiar green figure, blending with memories of her mother’s face, made Ais tilt her head slightly in confusion. Her dry lips moved involuntarily.
“…Mom, Mommy?”
Muttering the words, Riveria couldn’t hold herself back any longer. Tears blurred her eyes as she wished she could rush forward to embrace Ais, whose body was covered in scales.
Meanwhile, Noah slightly widened his eyes, suspiciously staring at the girl’s head from behind.
“Hmph,” he thought. “Could it be that this kid’s brain is messed up?”
Why does she keep calling out random names?
But when Noah saw the green-haired elf’s tear-filled eyes and her tightly clenched lips, a flicker of doubt crossed his mind.
“No, it can’t be. She must be their mother.”
I don’t see any evidence of that.
One is an elf and the other is human.
One has green hair and the other has brown hair.
This question is driving me nuts. Noah decided to give up trying to figure it out and handed Ais over to the green-haired elf, not wanting to interfere with what might be a mother-daughter reunion.
“Ais!”
Caught off guard, Riveria instinctively dropped her staff and used both hands to catch Ais.
All she heard was a “thud” as the staff fell to the ground, shattering with a clear sound. Even the nine gemstones on the staff, which looked extremely valuable, were covered in dust.
The gems shimmered faintly, and Noah felt a strange sense of unease looking at them.
After checking Ais’s body, Riveria quickly pulled out her Elixir of All Souls from her pocket.
Hey, after drinking half a bottle of Elixir of All Souls, Riveria pours the remaining half directly on Ais.
As a thick-smelling cloud of Mana smoke rises and dissipates, many distorted wounds on the girl are covered with faintly glowing multi-colored liquid, healing her visibly at eye level.
The chest’s muscles quickly recover, connect the skin and Blood Vessels again until the skin is fully restored to its original state.
Noah looks on with a raised eyebrow, confirming once more that this World’s Mana level far exceeds his imagination.
However, Noah’s attention is inevitably drawn to the girl Elf’s slender neck.
Holding the girl causes her to lean forward slightly, revealing a slight opening in the conservative high collar of the Elf, allowing a glimpse of the ribcage.
The curve of the neck is tight and elegant like a swan’s, with skin so fine and translucent that one can faintly see the blue Blood Vessels…
Elf blood should be sweet, right?
Thinking this way, Noah involuntarily swallows hard as his throat moves slightly, swallowing saliva, feeling uneasy.
Strictly speaking, Noah is not a pure Human.
This is common in the Arcane Realm where multiple races coexist… Don’t even get me started on Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Half-Dwarfs, or Halfling Men. There’s a whole bunch of them.
But Noah isn’t sure what his Bloodline is. Maybe it’s just not been developed yet.
The biggest special thing about Noah is that he can get Mana by drinking the excellent Elf female’s blood, especially her Blood.
Noah knows this sounds like a Vampire, but the problem is he doesn’t fear sunlight and actually loves getting sunburned. He also lacks long fangs or fog abilities common to Vampires.
So Noah just went with it, assuming it’s a Bloodline from an ancient extinct species.
After drinking two bottles of Elixir of All Souls, Ais’s Breathing Technique and pulse stabilize, Riveria lets out a breath she’s been holding.
Then she realizes something she had forgotten.
Riveria instinctively looks up, meeting the gaze of a pair of blue eyes.
A moment of silence passes until Riveria snaps out of it and gasps, picking up the staff on the ground to prepare a defensive move.
But she stops halfway through raising her hand.
Even though she doesn’t know where the stranger came from or why he’s holding Ais, his actions suggest he is an ally rather than an enemy.
Since that’s the case, my own behavior is clearly a bit unclear.
To understand this, Riveria, known as a calm and stable leader to others and companions, also feels her cheeks flushing with heat.
However, Riveria has already grown into an adult and learned to hide her embarrassment.
After all, if I’m not embarrassed, then the embarrassment is on someone else.
“Hello, I am Riveria·Lionis·Alf, Vice Captain of Loki Familia. Who you are?”
