Chapter 56 Riveria: I also want to make progress!

“Hey, what’s going on? Can you please tell me clearly? Don’t just stand there, lost in thought, okay? It’s like you’re having a solo monologue or something.”

Looking at Maryuu, who was resting her chin on her chest, furrowing her brow in thought, and then shaking her head in sighs, Airmid, with her dead fish eyes, couldn’t help but ask questions.

Although the two belonged to different Familias and had a significant age gap, Airmid and Maryuu actually got along pretty well.

Compared to the adventurers who wielded weapons and fought, the number of healers in the city was relatively scarce, to the point where they formed their own inner circle.

When Airmid first joined her Familia, she was taken by her senior to meet some of the friendly healer members, and that’s when she met Maryuu.

After spending some time together, their relationship had reached a point where they could tease each other.

For instance, Airmid’s idea of “rather than healing wounds, it’s better to just beat up the people who cause them” was influenced by Maryuu.

This “Stardust Saint” grew up in an orphanage and witnessed the tragic scene of the Evilus Faction’s massacre in the city.

So, whenever the Evilus Faction was mentioned, her smile would fade, and her eyes would lose their sparkle.

A glimpse into her dark side was that, as a healer, Maryuu chose to wield a warhammer instead of a staff.

However, Maryuu snapped back to reality and showed Airmid an apologetic smile.

“Sorry, this is a secret of another Familia, and it’s really not convenient to say. But if they don’t want to hide it, I think you’ll understand soon enough, Airmid.”

Although the news of Loki Familia’s Goliath subjugation should be made public by the Guild, if they want to keep it under wraps, there are many details that can be manipulated.

You don’t need to tell lies; you just need to not tell the whole truth.

For example, “a level 1 rookie soloed Goliath” and “the Nine Hell (Riveria) and the Familia’s rookie worked together to defeat Goliath” are both facts, but they give off completely different impressions.

After all, except for Asteria Familia, no one else was present at the scene to prove whether Loki Familia’s words were true or false.

Yesterday, the Goddess of Asteria said that they would just follow Loki Familia’s report and corroborate their story.

During the time of the Evilus Faction’s turmoil, the large and medium-sized Familias had an unspoken understanding when it came to protecting potential newcomers.

    But, what about the newcomer?

Wouldn’t even need a finger to crush me like a bug?

The newbies these days are getting more and more terrifying.

Seeing Maryuu lost in thought again, Airmid really wanted to tell her: If you’re not gonna say anything, just don’t think about it in front of me, alright?

It’s like you’re left hanging, it’s so annoying!

Riddle me this, riddle me that, get out of Orario!

And so, during the subsequent Material sales, Airmid wore a long face, playing on her Elf female instincts, and ruthlessly drove down a wave of prices.

Before leaving, Maryuu bought some Body-conditioning herbs from Airmid again.

Though they’re called herbs, they’re not much different from ingredients, and many Orario residents would use them to stew meat.

After all, so-called herbs are just ingredients that don’t taste good, and any farmer in the countryside probably has a whole bunch of them.

It was actually finding these low-grade goods in Dia White Hospital that took Airmid some time.

“Yesterday, they clearly just got back from a tough expedition, but everyone stayed up all night, not caring about their Body at all… If they don’t get some good rest today, don’t blame me!”

Feeling the dark Breath emanating from the healer, the girls of Asteria Familia all looked terrified, but dared not speak.

Only Ryu remained composed, her sky-blue eyes also carrying a hint of pride and a smile.

“Maryuu, I probably don’t need it, right? I rested well.”

“Yes, Ryu, you rested well, that’s great!”

“Uh, it’s not really something to be praised…”

Watching the Asteria Familia girls leave, Airmid inadvertently glanced over and saw the golden-haired Elf habitually pick up her scarf and gently wipe her face.

    “…Hmm?”

For some reason, Airmid was a little concerned about that action.

Why does it feel like, a bit of a Déjà Vu?

But before Airmid could think further, the emerald Figure walking in from the door completely caught her attention.

    “Nine Hell (Riveria)-sama!”

Seeing Riveria In an Instant, Airmid’s gaze instinctively swept around, but didn’t find the silver-haired Figure that should have appeared.

In just a moment, Riveria came to the counter, her eyes deep, looking down at the girl.

“Miss Airmid, don’t bother looking, he’s not here.”

Coming back to her senses, Airmid looked at Riveria, pressing her lips together.

“I don’t understand what Nine Hell (Riveria)-sama is talking about, I wasn’t looking for Mr. Noah.”

    Huh?

When did Airmid start calling Noah by his first name without honorifics?

Riveria felt a complex emotion, similar to discovering that the stray cat she had been feeding was also being fed by someone else.

No, this must be an illusion, Noah isn’t a cat or anything!

“Miss Airmid, I didn’t say it was Noah.”

Airmid’s eyes twitched, and she took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure, her eyes cast downward.

“I mentioned Noah because he’s often seen with you, that’s all, no other meaning behind it.”

Although Airmid’s acting skills were impressive for her age, how could she possibly fool someone like Riveria, a seasoned veteran?

Just looking at Airmid’s slightly flushed, delicate earlobes, Riveria understood the situation, and her emotions became complicated.

Normally, Riveria would be delighted to see Noah taking excellent members from other Familia, especially talented ones like Airmid, under his wing…

The problem was, her own Familia had Ais now!

Although she didn’t know when Noah and Ais became so close, the fact remained!

Ais had clearly acknowledged Noah, and it even manifested in her Skill!

Oh, when Riveria saw that Skill, she felt a strong urge to mock it…

One was trying to surpass, the other was trying to catch up.

Ais would catch up, only for Noah to surpass her again.

Then Ais would chase after him, and Noah would pull ahead once more…

You two are like a pair of fools, trying to reach the sky by stepping on each other’s feet, aren’t you?

Can I get a Skill like that too?

    It looks so convenient!

The Elf Princess wants to progress as well, you know!

    “Is that so?”

The Elf Princess nodded thoughtfully, then suddenly spoke up out of the blue.

“But Noah told me to ask you for a favor, saying he can’t come today. Did he get it wrong?”

At this point, Airmid knew it was pointless to keep up the act; Riveria clearly knew everything and was just teasing her now.

    What a cruel heart!

Seeing Airmid’s resentful expression, Riveria felt an unusual sense of joy.

Teasing kids, it’s just so much fun!
