Chapter 57 Dark Stirrings
As the winter solstice approached, with several snowfalls having already occurred, news spread that Orario would be holding a festival.
When it comes to Orario’s winter festivals, the first thing that comes to mind is the Saint’s Night Festival, where snowflakes dance in the air and lanterns illuminate the white night.
However, this time it was just a small-scale festival, with only lanterns being hung in the central square and stalls being set up.
Nevertheless, in these difficult times, the news was a beacon of hope.
But before the people of Orario and the adventurers could even feel the festive atmosphere, they were shocked by another announcement from the Guild.
Loki Familia’s newcomer, a level 1 adventurer, Noah Cipher, single-handedly defeated the floor boss Goliath on the 17th floor.
This news was like a massive Mana storm sweeping through, leaving Orario in a brief moment of silence, BOOM!
The news, announced by Loki Familia, one of the two major factions in the city, and verified by Asteria Familia, was approved by the Guild.
With these 3 factors combined, even the most seasoned adventurers, who usually scoffed at rumors, couldn’t help but fall silent.
Some veteran adventurers couldn’t help but recall the time 7 years ago when Zeus Familia and Hera Familia dominated Orario.
Was a new monster born?
If he grew in power, could he completely eradicate the darkness and turmoil that plagued Orario at the moment?
Countless people who had experienced sorrow and despair, and hated the dark era, couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope, like the numerous lanterns hanging in the central square, converging into a sea of light that illuminated the dark night.
In the depths of a dark and narrow corridor, a faint, flickering Distortion light cast an eerie glow, illuminating many bloodthirsty faces.
“Hey, Valetta, are you really going to do this?”
A rough, brutal voice echoed through the darkness, belonging to a man with a cruel, ruthless face and gray-white hair.
“What’s wrong? Are you scared, Olivas?”
Valetta silently stroked her Blood Color greatsword, giving her comrade a sidelong glance.
Even Olivas, known as the ‘White-Haired Ghost’, didn’t dare show his ferocity in front of Valetta, the brains and commander of the Evilus Faction.
“Tch, is it worth going to so much trouble for a little kid? Apate’s experiment isn’t done yet, and those 2 lunatics from the Alekto household are who-knows-where.”
After briefly explaining his reasoning, Olivas realized he still couldn’t persuade Valetta, so he turned his gaze to the person beside him, ZIP!
“Hey, Witt, what do you make of this? Hasn’t your Chief God been out in the city looking for someone? It’s been a while with no word, right?”
This was a man with dark red blood-colored hair, clad in battle attire resembling a priest’s ceremonial garb.
“Well, the whims of gods are unpredictable; how are we to fathom them? He’s not about to inform me of his plans, but as for this venture, I’m all for it…”
Witt’s eyes narrowed like a fox, the false smile at the corners of his mouth making him look like a clown.
But when his curved right eye opened slightly, the red iris within radiated a crazed aura.
“…Those bugs have been harboring hope lately, haven’t they? If we deliver despair to them at this moment, the blood color will be all the more striking! A brand new despair!”
“Tsk, you guys decide then.”
Seeing that Witt offered no opposition, Oliver knew the scheme was set, and he didn’t press the matter further.
Mainly, Oliver didn’t want to rile up the two maniacs beside him any more than necessary.
Yes, Oliver admitted he was bad, the kind that’s rotten to the core, but his brand of evil was still within the scope of human understanding… a delight in slaughtering the weak, tormenting the world, and dominating the lives of others.
But the madness of these two individuals beside him even made Oliver feel a shiver of fear.
This fear of facing a formidable foe, a bit of a bully who’s a coward at heart, was perhaps his most normal trait.
“You haven’t crossed swords with this individual, so you don’t understand his dreadfulness. We absolutely cannot let him grow stronger! What if he joins Loki Familia’s expedition and levels up? By then, even we might not be a match for him!”
Is it really got nothing to do with you getting duped by him and taking a hit to the kidneys?
Witt and Oliver exchanged a glance but didn’t voice that thought aloud.
They too could sense the threat posed by the new recruit of Loki Familia.
That day, they were reminded of the terror of being dominated by HeraZeus Familia, and the humiliation of hiding underground in eternal darkness!
“In that case, it’s settled then, but Valletta, what’s your move?”
Witt fondled the weapon in his hand, a short sword with no distinctive features other than the blood color it had acquired from slaughtering many.
“Oliver and I can only cause chaos on the surface to buy time, and we can’t hold out for long. Once Finn catches wind of our intentions, he’ll likely send reinforcements into the Dungeon quickly. Can you take him out on your own?”
“If I can’t kill him, can’t I at least take out the little girl beside him? Save him, he dies; don’t save him, let everyone in Orario see what kind of ‘Hero’ they’ve been waiting for!”
Valetta raises her Blood Color greatsword.
She stares at her reflection in the blade, her pupil revealing a fierce intent to kill.
“Noah! I’ll see if you’re really one of us… If I can paint you in a different color and create a demon for Orario, then what does my death matter?”
Oliva and Vitt look at each other and stand up to leave together.
Women are truly terrifying!

Five days later, in the Dungeon, the 15th level’s cave.
On a high platform, Ais, with a huge backpack, watches silently as Noah battles a group of Minotaurs in the distant hall.
For the usual Noah, Minotaurs are just a sword’s work, but today is different.
He’s not using magic, wearing armor, or even wielding a weapon; he’s fighting bare-chested with martial arts against the bulls.
After days of fighting, or rather, massacring Dungeon monsters, most of Noah’s ability values have risen rapidly, nearing their limit, except for his endurance, which is slow.
After all, endurance is a defense, or in layman’s terms, the ability to take hits without flinching.
In the upper layers of the Dungeon, monsters like the Speedy Unicorn Rabbit,恐怖蝙蝠, Hellhound, and Sabertooth Tiger find it hard to offensive arts Noah, so his endurance doesn’t get much of a boost.
Though no one requires Noah to boost all his ability values, having suffered from a lack of physical robustness, he won’t pass up the chance to become a well-rounded warrior!
When Noah asked Riveria how to quickly improve his endurance, her answer was… fighting with bare hands is a man’s romance!
After smashing a Minotaur’s arm and half its body with his fists, Noah ends the battle and returns to the high platform.
Wiping the sweat and dust off with a towel, Noah drinks water and suddenly feels something off.
He turns to find Ais staring at him without blinking.
To be precise, she’s staring at his bare upper body, her gaze making Noah feel uneasy.
“Ais?”
