Chapter 59 Ruru: I’d rather jump off the city walls than…!

“Huh? Ruru, aren’t you going to the festival?”

At the breakfast table of Asteria Familia, Alise lifted her cheek, smeared with oil, from her plate and looked at the golden-haired Elf beside her with a puzzled expression.

Due to her incredibly loud voice, the girls at the table, who were discussing where to go next or complaining about having to patrol, all turned to look at Ruru.

    Alise!

Why don’t you speak up a bit more?

If you were any louder, you could take down Monsters with just one shout during battles!

Ruru, who was already irritable from lack of sleep, felt like dunking her friend’s head into the stew.

All you think about is food!

Despite her turbulent emotions, Ruru maintained her composure and took a sip of her oatmeal.

“I saw some gear I wanted, so I’m going to the Dungeon to earn some cash.”

Although it was an act, Ruru found herself pretending quite naturally, unlike her usual frantic self, which even kids could see through.

    This surprised her.

“Aren’t you going to take a break for a couple of days?”

“It’s a rare festival; we should go have some fun together.”

“If you’re short on cash, I can lend you some.”

Ruru was touched by her friends’ concern and offers, but firmly declined.

“Thanks, but spare me the crowded festival!”

Knowing Ruru’s extreme skin cleanliness, even among Elves, her teammates reluctantly withdrew their gazes.

Kaguya even gave a ‘I knew this useless Elf was up to something’ look.

They didn’t know that, aside from not wanting to be in a crowded festival, Ruru was also afraid of seeing a certain silver-haired boy.

Otherwise, if she were to trip and fall in public, her life as an Elf, her position in Justice Familia, and her role as a city guard would all be over!

…But Kaguya’s expression still got under her skin!

Ruru gritted her teeth so hard she could almost hear the sound of her teeth creaking, forcing down the urge to retort.

For now, it was better to head into the Dungeon and forget her worries with some intense battles.

But despite her eagerness, Ruru finished her breakfast and, following etiquette, turned to her Familia’s Chief God.

“Asteria Goddess, may I be excused?”

The goddess with walnut-colored long hair stopped her spoon and looked at Ruru with deep blue eyes, like a starry night sky.

Even though Ruru despised the common people’s superficial focus on appearance rather than Spirit, she couldn’t help but waver whenever she saw Asteria Goddess, BOOM!

Asteria, the Goddess of Justice, purity, and order, was a powerful warrior who handed down punishments in the heavens, and also a skilled fighter.

Not only had Alise been guided by Asteria on their journey to Orario, but she had also received her guidance along the way.

Even Kaguya, who possessed the strongest swordsmanship in her Familia, admitted that Asteria’s skills with a sword were so exceptional that she could make both of them cry.

But, it was impossible to tell!

    Completely impossible to tell!

Not only could Ruru not see it, but she believed that anyone who laid eyes on Asteria for the first time would not be able to notice it either!

Her aura was crystal clear, without a single impure element, and her words and actions all gave off an air of nobility and purity that matched her name as a goddess.

But despite being such a sacred goddess, her slender and delicate body, wrapped in pure white clothing, was also curvaceous and full-figured, perfectly embodying the beauty of an Elf female.

Thinking about it, it wasn’t hard to understand why Asteria would be evaluated by those lecherous male gods as the “embodiment of gentleness and kindness, the goddess of goddesses!” and would likely rank first in the “goddess you’d want to be knee-padded and have your head patted by” rankings, and might even become the goddess of all the male gods’ mothers!

…Even Ruru herself wasn’t sure if the jumbled thoughts in her mind were an attempt to alleviate the tension of being in front of the Chief God.

Ruru wasn’t lying; she had indeed been thinking of buying some equipment recently.

But she hadn’t told the whole truth.

Especially, she hadn’t mentioned that she wanted to go to the Dungeon to force herself to forget about a certain silver-haired boy through intense battles, and to avoid seeing him at the festival.

In any case, Asteria gazed at her calmly and finally broke into a soothing smile.

“Well, be careful, okay! Ruru, if you have any troubles or difficulties, don’t hesitate to come to me.”

Ruru couldn’t tell if her little act had been seen through or not.

The shame in her heart urged her to get up and quickly leave the table.

But as she turned around, the Elf couldn’t help but sneak a few glances at the goddess’s chest, where her breasts were pressed together, creating a deep and soft cleavage.

Men, after all, still prefer bigger ones, don’t they?

A thought that had never occurred to her before lingered in her mind, refusing to dissipate, until she arrived at the Dungeon entrance and finally snapped out of it.

    It’s all that individual’s fault!

They’ve been making me think all these weird thoughts lately!

Looking at the scarf in her hand, Ruru’s eyes revealed a strong inner struggle.

    No way!

    Absolutely not!

    I won’t be tempted again!

I’d rather jump off the city walls!

    I absolutely won’t…

    This is the last time!

I swear to the Great Sacred Tree!

This is absolutely the last time!

    BOOM!

In the end, the Elf couldn’t hold it in anymore.

She lied to herself, closed her eyes, covered her face with her scarf, and used a Deep Breathing Technique.

However, even if Ryu had made up her mind, she couldn’t make it work……the scent on the scarf was so faint, it was impossible to even catch a whiff.

That’s why Ryu has been having trouble sleeping these past few days, her mind replaying countless memories of that silver-haired youth’s Form.

But Ryu knew very well that her recent insomnia, anxiety, and restlessness weren’t caused by withdrawal from the scent.

On the contrary, the calm and comfortable state she had experienced a few days ago was an unusual occurrence that had occurred under the influence of this scent.

Now it seems, she was too happy too soon!

Thinking she had finally escaped the status of a useless Elf and mocking the other members for not being able to sleep after watching a boy’s adventure.

    No!

Absolute had to forget about that individual!

With a hint of resentment, “Even the last time won’t give it to me,” Ryu crushed the protective scarf woven from precious materials and charged into the Dungeon with her sword!

That individual, in that moment, Absolute knew he had touched one, or even several Elves before!

Otherwise, how could that have been a conditioned reflex?!

So, no matter how heroic or charming he was during his battles and adventures, he was definitely not the partner of her dreams!

With the heat of the fierce battle surging through her body, Ryu hammered this conviction into her heart time and time again as she swung her sword to slay the Monsters.

When she came to her senses, she found herself already on the 17th floor.

The Wall of Sighs reflected a faint glow, illuminating the pale hall, which had returned to normal, showing no sign of the Fierce Battle that had taken place there.

“Go take a bath”……feeling the sweat and dust on her body, Ryu couldn’t help but yearn for a shower.

Entering the 18th floor, Ryu walked straight towards the eastern great forest.

But as she passed through the Dense Forest and approached her destination, Ryu heard the sound of water flowing.

    What is this?

Ryu, whose consciousness was already a little slow, looked up, her eyes passed through, and then the whole Elf stood there.

Because in the clear pond where I often came to clean Body with the Familia members, a figure had appeared.

The silver hair that reflected the sky’s crystal radiance took away her consciousness.
