Chapter 66 Riveria
A thunderous roar echoed through the 18th layer of the Dungeon, where the seasons seemed to blend into one.
It was as if a massive summer storm had suddenly descended, unleashing uncontrollable arcs of lightning that spread in all directions.
Rocks, giant trees, and crystals were obliterated in an instant, countless monsters turned to dust before they could escape.
A fierce wind, born from the shockwave, swept through, blinding everything in a brilliant white light.
The entire floor felt like it was under a wide-area bombardment, violently shaking like a ship caught in a raging storm.
For over 20 seconds, the chaotic scene of heaven and earth continued, before the storm and fierce wind vanished completely.
The aftermath of the thunderous noise left the 18th layer eerily silent, as if even the monsters were holding their breath in fear.
Only the vast expanse of charred ground and the flames still burning at the edges of the forest remained.
“I guess… I killed them, right?”
Enduring the stinging pain and swelling from the mana explosion, Noah looked at the charred remains that barely resembled human forms.
This was the first enemy he encountered in this world──ruthless, cunning, shameless, and clever.
It was a shame to see them go so easily.
However, an enemy is just an enemy; Noah only enjoyed his fun when it didn’t harm others.
Right now, it was clear someone was hurt, and he needed to refocus his attention.
“Hey! Elf? Are you okay? Did you die?”
Before the storm swept through, Noah had quickly unfurled the cloak wrapped around his waist, shielding Ryu and the 3 girls beneath him.
It seemed the protective cloak, blessed by fairy magic and made from precious materials, couldn’t withstand his strength and was now tattered.
The girls still hadn’t woken up; whether it was due to the strong effects of the sleeping potion or if they were just dazed, they appeared to be unharmed on the surface.
The key issue was Ryu…
“Ugh, I’m not ‘hey’! Call me Ryu!”
Ryu, weak and leaning against Noah, clutched her abdomen, her waist-length golden hair stained with blood.
Fragments of a dark blade had pierced her battle attire, embedding into her fair skin, blood gushing out.
Perhaps it was the weakness from the mana explosion, but seeing the blood made Noah feel a strange thirst in his throat…
No!
This is not the time for that!
“Alright, Elf, no problem, Elf. How’s your wound? Should I help pull it out for you?”
Luli, who was initially listless, suddenly became alert with this prompting, shooting a glare at Noah.
“It’s not fatal!”
Without waiting for Noah to act, Luli herself grasped the broken sword, and with a squelch of flesh and blood, she yanked it out.
At this moment, Luli showed the spirit of an Adventurer; despite the deep wound, aside from her face becoming paler and sweat on her forehead, her expression remained calm and unwavering.
“Now, the song of the distant forest, the melody of past lives, please bestow your healing mercy upon those who seek you… Noah’s healing!”
“Magic Healing is really nice to have; I wish I had one too… Then I could heal the opponent to fight them again, instead of just disabling them and having to destroy them humanely.”
Noah, who had been advancing down the path of destruction, couldn’t help but sigh a little.
“Oh, if that special bloodline in him that seems to replenish Mana through the fluids of Elf females counts.”
Even though there wasn’t any obvious trait yet, Noah felt that his bloodline should be pretty much activated now.
The problem was, besides an enhanced ability to seduce Elf females, there didn’t seem to be any other unusual changes.
But under Noah’s envious gaze, the emerald glow did not heal Luli’s abdominal wound after it faded.
“How can this be?!”
Compared to the surprised Luli, Noah was stroking his chin with a scholarly expression.
“It must be an incurable curse; impressive, even Magic Healing can’t work. I’d really like to pick the brains of the people who developed these curses.”
That sort of expression, like a child pulling and tearing at toys to see what happens, Luli had seen too many times on her teammate Leila’s face when studying various novel weapons.
Sometimes, she’d stand by and observe as well.
But when the subject of observation was herself, Luli couldn’t muster any interest at all!
“Hey! Why do you act like it has nothing to do with you?!”
This just left Noah tilting his head in confusion.
“Well, naturally, the sword is stuck in your belly, not mine, so why should I be in a hurry?”
This overly matter-of-fact, yet coldblooded statement, made Luli’s eyes widen; she was nearly fuming with anger.
But Noah didn’t give her time to get angry, sweeping one arm under her knees and the other around her shoulders, he lifted Luli up and leaped away.
As for the 3 little ones?
He simply swung his cloak and bundled them up, the tattered holes serving as ventilation.
Is this the princess carry?
The wind whooshed past her ears, and Luli instinctively wrapped her arms around Noah’s neck, gazing up at the young man’s face.
Reaching this height was a piece of cake for AgilitySaber’s Ryo, but being held in someone’s arms was a different story altogether.
The sound of a heartbeat from the opposite sex was transmitted through the armor and to his ears, and even though his wound was still bleeding, Ryo’s face turned bright red, and he felt dizzy and lightheaded, his heart racing…
Huh, is this some kind of hallucination caused by blood loss?
In the 18th floor’s western lake, there was an island connected to the land by a massive rolling bridge.
On the eastern part of the island, situated on a cliff with a height of at least 200 meters, there was a town.
Although it was called a town, it was only surrounded by a wall made of nearby rocks and crystals, and the buildings were all stacked on top of each other like blocks on the cliff.
A wooden archway with a flag, labeled ‘Riveria Town’, stood at the entrance.
This town was originally a large-scale relay point set up by the Guild to explore the unknown floors more efficiently, but due to monster invasions and massive defense costs, it was eventually canceled.
However, a group of greedy adventurers took over and turned it into a black market that even the Guild couldn’t control.
It was said that you could buy anything there, from Grimoires to precious treasures of equal value, and even ‘unlocking potions’ that could forcibly unlock Ability Values sealed by the Chief God, as long as you had Ichor to pair with it.
At this moment, a commotion broke out in Riveria Town, with adventurers carrying large packages running around like ants on a hot skillet.
When they saw Noah jump from the lake surface and run up the cliff, they all raised their weapons.
“Who?!”
“Halt!”
“Don’t come any closer!!”
Explaining the situation would be too troublesome, and they’d probably get extorted anyway, but there was no time for that now.
As soon as he landed, Noah put down the package with the 3 small ones, supported Ryo with one hand, and drew his sword with the other.
Accompanied by the sound of crackling electricity, a blinding flash of light illuminated the surroundings, and a slash struck the distant cliff wall, creating a massive explosion that echoed throughout the 18th floor with a deafening BOOM!
“I’m a member of the Loki Familia! We were just attacked by the Evilus Faction, and my friend is injured! We need your help! Please, lend us a hand!”
Looking at Noah, who seemed to be saying ‘if you don’t help me, none of you will leave’, Ryo’s eyes sparkled with a faint light.
