    Chapter 70 Sword and Wind

Although it was called an Explosion, its power was not great; the sound was similar to fireworks, barely reaching the bustling square filled with voices.

For instance, most of the crowd around Ais was absorbed in their own stalls.

Only a few sharp-eared Orcs looked up, confused, glancing around.

Clearly, they only heard the commotion but couldn’t tell if the sound came from the Explosion or a performance arranged by the Guild.

If it weren’t for her experiences as an Adventurer in Dungeons feeling the Explosions, Ais might not have recognized the sound either.

What was certain was that the damage was minimal, but she could sense a stir beginning at the edge of the square.

    “Riveria?”

Not just Ais, but her teammates instinctively turned their gazes toward Riveria.

In the center of so many eyes, Riveria calmly surveyed the square before making a judgment.

“It’s not a main attack; this is meant to stir up trouble, perhaps to draw us over there. We can leave that to Asteria Familia.”

She looked toward the street in the opposite direction, “Let’s head this way to keep watch!”

As the team rushed toward the Target, Riveria glanced at Ais, pondering as she pressed her lips together.

“Ais, I have a Mission for you. There might be someone lurking among the crowd, waiting for a chance to act. We stand out too much; we need your help.”

Riveria knew that even if she let Ais go, the little one would likely not behave.

Since that was the case, it was better to give her a Mission, sending her to protect the crowd.

With those 3 extraordinary Ability Values, even a typical lv2 Adventurer would hardly be a match for Ais, not much stronger than a Goblin.

    Not to mention that Magic…

    “Okay! Leave it to me!”

Sure enough, the previously disoriented Ais, caught in the wind, suddenly sparkled with determination!

Before leading the team away, Riveria thought for a moment and looked back at Ais.

“Ais, if you encounter a strong enemy, just shout ‘Awaken!'”

    Awaken…

Watching Riveria and the others leave, Ais slowly murmured the chant that gave her a strange feeling.

Without reaching a conclusion, Ais gave up on her thoughts and turned to blend into the crowd.

Long before setting up the stalls, the Guild had erected many tall towers in the square, now occupied by Adventurers arranged by Finn.

Although they couldn’t provide direct protection to the people, like a stone in a flood that slows the current, the mere sight of the powerful Adventurer renowned in the city gives the folks a lot of security, calming the spreading panic to some degree.

The toughest part about protecting the residents isn’t against the attacks of the Evilus Faction, but in getting the people to follow commands.

Sometimes, the casualties caused by the chaos and trampling of the crowd in a panic are even greater than those from the Evilus Faction’s assaults.

Yet, amidst the increasingly dense Explosion attacks from all directions, unease spreads like wildfire, threatening to burst through the riverbanks.

With a sword standing as tall as herself on her back, Ais weaves through the crowd with grace, though she seems a bit lost in finding her Target.

“Where are the bad guys? Which one is the bad guy?”

Sensing the terror and unease emanating from the crowd, and the cries of children, Ais feels a bit of irritation welling up.

The endless wails and screams from the depths of her memory seem to echo in her ears now, stirring the dark Flames within.

    “Why?”

“Why do we turn against each other?”

“Why does this World have so many Monsters that bring pain and sorrow, and yet we still raise our swords against our own kind?”

    “I… hate you all!”

“I hate everything that causes pain!”

Thus, when a figure clad in a white robe from the Evilus Faction comes into view, Ais draws her sword with a swift motion!

“Aha ha ha ha! I, Oliver, have returned!”

In front of a stall somewhere, a group that seemed to be vendors and customers suddenly don white robes together!

“Finn, Finn, you’ve had the city members guard the square since early this morning, but what if we sneaked in last night and hid under the counters?”

“But… is that really something to be proud of?”

Thinking about sleeping on the cold floor all night, Oliver’s laughter falters for a moment.

“No matter! Give me a good slaughter!”

Although all the action on the surface is just a cover for Valetta in the Dungeon, when you get down to it, the other executives are drawing the fire for him, Oliver!

In a sense, he’s the main attacker!

Heh heh, I’m definitely going to make a name for myself with this killing spree…

Just as Oliver is thinking this, a flash of gold suddenly appears in his field of vision.

    “Gale?”

As he recalls the name of his many-time enemy, a flash of silver streaks by, the slash stinging everyone’s eyes.

After the beautiful golden hair flutters past, the warrior who couldn’t even put up a fight falls amidst the rubble.

It’s only then that Oliver recognizes the true form of the golden figure.

Golden hair, golden eyes, youthful yet exquisitely delicate features like a doll’s.

In this instant, Ais swung her gigantic silver sword, which was completely disproportionate to her petite body, and sliced through an Amazon’s body with a loud CLANG!

Meanwhile, as an Orc swung its massive axe from the side, Ais struck back, cutting down the Orc’s body along with its weapon with a swift WHOOSH!

But when Ais took down the fifth member of the Evilus Faction, even the civilians who should have been fleeing in fear stopped in their tracks, staring at the scene in awe.

    “Is that… a Valkyrie?”

    “A Doll Princess?”

    “From the Loki Familia?”

Her slender sword transformed into an impenetrable barrier of blades, enveloping the white-robed figures, and then followed up with a bloody downpour, accompanied by a chilling SPLATTER!

    “You’re… not even killing them?”

The remaining leader of the Evilus Faction’s squad glared with his eyes wide open in shock.

Although Ais had unleashed a bloody storm with her sword, she hadn’t killed anyone; instead, she had severed their limbs, leaving not a single stain on her own body, a feat that proved the vast gap between them.

Realizing there was no chance for resistance or escape, he gritted his teeth, his eyes blazing with fury, and reached into his cloak.

“My lord!! I offer my life to──”

But just as a golden shadow flashed by, his voice froze, and his entire body was petrified, as if time had stopped with a sudden THUD!

    “You won’t get the chance.”

The emotionless voice echoed from behind, and only then did he realize he hadn’t even seen the attack that had struck him down, leaving him in a state of stunned silence.

After cutting down her enemy, Ais turned to face the only one still standing before her, Olivas.

“Heh, looks like I’ve got my own prize today, aside from that silver-haired kid! If I take you down too, it should be enough to send the Loki Familia into a panic for a while, eh?”

    Silver hair…

    Noah!

    Their target was Noah!

Although she didn’t know the details of the Evilus Faction’s scheme, Ais had caught wind of the crucial point.

In an instant, a dark flame erupted from her back, burning with intense fury, accompanied by a low, ominous GROWL!

    “…I’ll take you down!”
