    Chapter 71 The Mother’s Wind

“Hahahah, if I can just take down the War Maiden, I, Olivas, will be renowned as the greatest of the Evilus Faction!”

As Olivas fantasized about becoming the top executive of the Evilus Faction, he let out a maniacal laugh, but the next moment, a sharp silver light came slashing down, forcing him to scramble backward in a panic, BOOM!

Covered in dust, Olivas stood up, and upon touching his cheek, he felt a searing pain, realizing his face had been slashed.

“You little brat! You’re going down!”

Overwhelmed by a strong sense of humiliation, Olivas drew his long sword and swung it at Ais, who was charging towards him again, CLANG!

However, the moment their blades clashed, the impact sent a shockwave through his arm, numbing it, and Olivas’s anger turned to astonishment.

While he had the upper hand in terms of Strength, Ais’s Speed and Swordsmanship were far superior, a true master of the blade!

And to think this was just a level 1 adventurer!

Faster than Olivas’s thoughts, Ais’s sword struck again, WHOOSH!

With swift and deadly precision, Ais’s sword pierced through the air, heading straight for Olivas’s eyes, forcing him to defend himself hastily, a true display of mastery over the sword.

But as soon as he blocked one attack, 3 more slashes followed in quick succession, a maelstrom of sword strikes that left Olivas reeling.

The sword light became a storm of Mana, invisible to the n*ked eye, striking Olivas from the front and weaving a bloody pattern on his body, forcing him to stumble backward, ZING!

It was hard to believe that such powerful slashes were coming from Ais’s slender arms, a true marvel of swordsmanship.

Olivas was forced to defend himself, unable to counterattack, and even his mind was on the verge of being overwhelmed by the relentless assault, a true test of his resolve.

Feeling his inner self tremble, Olivas’s face contorted in a mixture of rage and fear, a true distortion of his usual calm demeanor.

“I’m a level 3 adventurer! How can I be pushed to this point by a mere child?!”

Enraged, Olivas abandoned his defense and swung his sword with both hands, striking Ais with a powerful blow, a true display of his strength, THUD!

Caught off guard, Ais was forced to stop his attack and raise his sword to defend, the two blades clashing in a shower of sparks, CLANG!

The impact of the blades sent Ais flying through the air, rolling backward for several meters before landing safely, a true testament to his agility.

Even so, the immense force of the blow left gouge marks on the ground where Ais’s feet had been, a true display of the power of Olivas’s attack.

As Ais finally came to a stop, he looked down at his sword, the blade now scarred and his arm numb from the force of the impact, a true testament to the strength of Olivas’s attack.

The sword blade had several notches in it, and Ais’s slender arm was shaking due to the numbness, causing the sword to waver, a true sign of the toll the battle had taken on him.

    Outmatched.

Despite having exceptional Ability Values and masterful Swordsmanship, the two-level difference in their ranks was still too great for Ais to overcome, a true challenge to his skills.

In that case, he would just have to stall for time until Riveria and the others arrived!

As Ais decided to change his strategy, a snake-like smile spread across Olivas’s blood-stained cheek, a true sign of his cunning and ruthlessness, a true villain of the Evilus Faction.

He looked at Ais, then at the other Adventurers running towards them from afar, and pulled out several Tools that looked like rubies.

    “Little girl, make your choice!”

He threw the Tools around the crowd, and Olivier turned and fled without looking back.

The Tools suddenly emitted an ominous red glow, like red-hot iron, in mid-air, revealing the immense Energy Momentum they contained.

In an instant, Ais understood what Olivier meant by ‘choice.’

Attacking Olivier’s unguarded back would not only hold him back, but might even give her the opportunity to defeat him.

But the innocent civilians around them would inevitably suffer heavy casualties in this Explosion.

Was it killing the enemy or protecting the innocent?

This was a no-brainer, a choice with no room for maneuver, placed before the girl.

But what came to mind was not the image of defeating Olivier, nor the countless cries and wails of the crowd.

Instead, it was the clear, crisp blue of dawn.

    Time seemed to stop.

Ais’s consciousness left the scene of blood and flying bodies.

In the midst of the flashing light, she saw another scene.

“Ais, if one day, you need to use our deaths as the Price to complete your revenge, would you do it?”

“…People like us will inevitably face such a choice at some point in our lives: to move forward for our ideals, or to stop for those around us…”

The Tools melted, beginning to spray a blinding light symbolizing death, and the air around them began to churn like a tsunami.

In the red-tinged vision, Ais met the gaze of a girl, and the scent of apples seemed to waft through her nostrils.

    …She understood.

In Ais’s inner world, the clear light that had always been in opposition to the hatred was completely ignited.

Like a summer Clear Wind soaring through the sky, it spread out, carefully depicting every scene under the gloom.

It was the Emerald Eyes she saw when Riveria reprimanded her, the warmth she felt when Loki harassed her, the praise she received when she trained with Finn, and the rough, deep voice of Gareth teaching her how to maintain her weapon…

Ais’s heart, which she thought was filled only with hatred, was actually already overflowing with something else she couldn’t ignore: the memories and moments spent with the people around her.

She understood, she knew, it was clear.

The girl has never been so convinced of the mission and meaning of her birth as she is now.

She was still full of hatred, but this hatred arose because the important people around her were destroyed and seized.

To hate, to swing swords, to fight…but this is to no longer allow the important people to be hurt, seized, and destroyed.

And not the other way around!

    “Wake up…”

Just as Flame was about to unleash its power, Ais’s lips uttered that sound.

    The next instant.

The Magic within Ais’s body was released.

    Wind.

A gust of wind blew through the air.

The clear Air Flow swirled and transformed into a swift wind formed from Mana.

As it caressed the skin, blowing back her long hair, it brought a refreshing sensation, yet its sharp whistling sound sent shivers down her spine.

The moment she felt the wind enveloping her, Ais realized that this was the wind of the gods, a guardian wind, her mother’s wind!

Her father’s sword, her mother’s wind, had never left her side.

    She had never been alone!

    “BOOM!!”

A deafening explosion erupted, and a massive fireball appeared in mid-air, unleashing a scorching heat wave that formed a powerful Shockwave that surged in all directions!

But what blocked it was a wall of wind that rose like a storm, defying the sky!

No matter how the Fire Dragon roared, attempting to bring harm to the world, it was bound by the powerful and clear Air Flow, ultimately being extinguished with a defeated screech.

When Riveria arrived, she saw Ais standing with her sword at the ready, her body enveloped by the swirling Clear Wind that blew through her golden hair, gazing up at the sky in a daze.

    “Ais…”

The girl turned her head, looking at the Elf Princess with tears in her golden eyes, revealing a clear smile tinged with sadness.

    “Riveria, I… was never alone…”

    “…You’re not, of course!”

Letting out a sigh of relief, Riveria stepped forward and embracing the young girl.

In a distant corner, Olivas watched the scene, biting his lip until it bled.

“Next time, I’ll show you my true power, absolutely!”

But a hand slowly placed itself on his shoulder.

“I think that won’t be necessary.”

“Huh?! Who are you to interfere with me, you…!”

Olivas’s coarse words were cut off as he let out a high-pitched squeal, like a strangled duck, when he met a pair of azure eyes.

And a smile spread across Noah’s face.
