Chapter 13 Being a Live-in Son-in-law Isn’t So Bad?
The first commission was completed smoothly.
Asakura Yuu and Yukino Yukinoshita parted ways at the school gate.
“See you tomorrow,” Yukino said.
“See you tomorrow, Yui~!” Yui Yuigahama waved at him with a lot of energy, and then the two of them disappeared from Asakura Yuu’s line of sight.
…
When he returned home, the young lady he had taken in the night before was cooking.
“Good evening, Asakura-sama.”
“Good evening.”
Their greetings were brief.
“Asakura-sama, you’re back late today, but it’s still earlier than yesterday,” Momo said to Asakura Yuu, who was standing in the kitchen doorway.
Her attitude was less distant than yesterday, and there was a hint of closeness.
“I didn’t work today, but I had club activities, so I’m back late,” Asakura Yuu explained.
“I see.”
Asakura Yuu went upstairs to put his things away.
When he came down, Momo was still cooking, and the whole house was filled with the delicious smell.
The kitchen and dining room were combined.
Asakura Yuu sat down at the dining table and waited for her to finish cooking.
The girl, wearing an apron, looked very attractive as she concentrated on cooking, and her slight inexperience due to her young age was somewhat charming.
But it was precisely this inexperience that made it special.
“Is school fun?”
Momo took off her apron, carried the dishes over, and sat down.
“Fun? I guess so, my days are very fulfilling.”
Asakura Yuu thought it was a strange question.
Could it be that this young lady had never attended school?
She didn’t seem like an illiterate person, though.
Maybe she had a private tutor?
The life of the rich was beyond Asakura Yuu’s understanding.
“Really?” Momo helped him serve the rice.
“Mainly because the people I’ve met are interesting,” Asakura Yuu said, taking the bowl of rice from her: “Thanks.”
“You don’t have to thank me.”
The two of them started eating.
Momo ate very delicately, chewing each bite slowly.
Asakura Yuu was more casual.
“How’s the taste? Is it to your liking?” Momo put down her chopsticks and asked.
She wanted to discuss some things with him.
Such as her true identity, or the reason she ran away from home.
“It’s delicious.”
This wasn’t just a polite phrase; Momo’s cooking was indeed good, although not as good as his own after acquiring the skill.
“If you like it, I can cook for you every day from now on.”
After Momo said this, she noticed that Asakura Yuu’s chopsticks had stopped moving.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing.”
It was impossible for the other party to stay in his home forever.
However, facing the girl’s kindness, it would be impolite to say that, so it was better not to mention it.
“Asakura-sama are you worried about my safety?” Momo looked at his expression and guessed something.
“Hmm.”
“Don’t worry about it. There won’t be any problems in the short term.”
“Aren’t the bodyguards trying to catch you?”
“You mean Zastin? He’s actually my sister’s exclusive guard.”
“Our family has more than just me, you know. I also have an identical twin sister and an older sister.” Momo twirled her right hand through her pink hair.
“I’ve already talked to my father, and he agrees to let me stay here.”
As for the reason for staying on Earth.
Naturally, I found a suitable fiancé.
Momo knew her father had always wanted to find a satisfactory son-in-law to inherit the throne, and he was tired of his daily duties.
Her own reason, though it sounds ridiculous, meets her father’s expectations.
“Father?”
“Yeah.” Momo looked at his surprised expression, combined with the other party’s performance this morning, she covered her mouth and chuckled lightly: “My parents are still alive, what have you misunderstood?”
Asakura leisurely recounted what he thought.
Including her being alone at home, being pressured into marriage by adults, and other guesses.
After listening, Momo could only sigh that the imagination of Earthlings was indeed rich.
“You’re right about the arranged marriage, but it’s not me, it’s my sister. She’s arranged to go on dates every week now.” Momo explained.
“Will you in the future?”
“No, one heir is enough.”
Asakura had heard that wealthy people prefer to find a son-in-law rather than raise an heir, because the latter has a wider selection.
Having an excellent daughter allows them to choose an heir at will.
The people of the island nation don’t care much about blood relations, as long as they change their surname, they are family.
However, a son-in-law is generally suppressed by his wife, after all, he is an outsider.
But marriage can achieve social mobility, if there is an opportunity, no man would give it up.
“So, for the time being, I’ll still be staying here.” Momo stood up and bowed slightly: “Thank you for your understanding.”
“Of course, if Asakura-sama finds trouble, I will move out.”
She is not a girl who likes to pester her.
“It’s OK.”
Although there is a misunderstanding in the middle, there is no need to retract what you said in the morning.
A gentleman is as good as he can, but Asakura Yu is particularly obsessed with the spirit of contract.
“By the way, since your father didn’t call you back to get married, why did you run away from home?” Asakura Yu quickly clarified his thoughts.
Momo’s eyes were erratic.
The reason is too embarrassing, she can’t say it!
“What do you mean by saying you will be forced to do something you don’t like?”
Momo was silent for a few seconds, blushing and muttering: “The daily coursework is too troublesome, and there is no time to rest from morning to night. I don’t like this kind of life.”
She thought that giving such a reason would make him angry, or even scold her, but surprisingly, he didn’t have much of an emotional reaction.
“I see.”
Asakura Yuu got the expected answer, so naturally, he wouldn’t have much of a reaction.
In his view, teenagers running away from home was mostly out of spite, or being forced by their parents to do something they didn’t like.
Just by looking at her appearance and age, Momo seemed to be about the same as him, if not younger.
Teenagers in the midst of rebellion running away from home is as common as finding a coin on the street──it’s not rare, but it’s not seen often either.
“Aren’t you angry, Asakura-sama?”
“Why would I be angry?” Asakura Yuu asked in return.
“A girl like me suddenly asking to stay over, you should be troubled, right? And the reason for running away from home is so childish…”
Momo’s tone was disheartened.
She yearned to become a mature woman, but she couldn’t.
“Yesterday, I thought… never mind, it’s just a misunderstanding on my part.”
Asakura Yuu originally wanted to say he was afraid of getting his kidney stolen, but then thought it wasn’t nice to say such things to a girl.
The reason he felt at ease leaving her at home today was actually related to the system.
After Momo was saved last night, there were multiple prompts for increased affection.
If it really was a setup, the increase in affection wouldn’t make sense, because the pure love system only detects progress related to romance.
Momo had developed something like affection for him last night.
The most crucial point: the pure love system only targets pure, innocent beauties who have never been in love.
[Momo Belia Deviluke affection +10, points +10000]
In the midst of his thoughts, he gained more points.
[Current point balance: 38500]
Most of it was provided by Yui Yuigahama.
The rest came from Momo and Yukino.
‘The next month is coming up soon, I wonder what skills will be refreshed.’
Asakura Yuu planned to earn more points before the refresh.
