Chapter 28 The Timid One Afraid of Failure
Outside a dessert shop beside the train station, a bicycle was parked in a corner.
Many girls passing by couldn’t help but notice a certain table inside the shop.
Asakura Yu stirred his coffee, not paying much attention to the girls’ gazes.
He was used to being the center of attention.
His mouth muttered some instructions…
“When you get to her house, if there are family members there, introduce yourself like this. Yumiko is a friend of Kawasaki-san, and I’m the unlucky class president who’s in charge of delivering the handouts.”
“I know, Yu, you’ve told me this many times already.”
A male class president plus a caring friend, this setup could get you through even a meeting with parents safely.
But as far as he knew, Saki Kawasaki’s parents were busy with work and got home very late.
Besides her, there were 2 others in the house: a younger sister in kindergarten and an older brother in middle school.
The above is just a precautionary measure.
“But why did Kawasaki-san give up on school?”
Yumiko Miura picked up a blueberry from her cake with a fork.
If you encounter difficulties, you can always talk to your friends, suddenly not coming to school…
Well, Kawasaki-san doesn’t seem to have many friends.
Even though school has been in session for over a month, not many girls dare to interact with her.
It’s mainly because her appearance resembles a delinquent girl.
“Who knows, after all, we don’t really know Saki Kawasaki. Even her home address came from Hiratsuka-sensei.”
“…Even before it started, you’re already giving off a vibe like ‘Ah, this is so difficult, I want to give up.’ Today’s Yu doesn’t seem like Yu at all!”
“Hmm, in your eyes, what am I like?”
“Someone who can solve any problem perfectly, something like that?”
Er, who are you talking about when you say “perfect”?
Although I’m happy to be viewed this way, the pressure is huge, so huge that I can only smile and not speak.
Because as soon as I open my mouth, it’s a heroic speech, and if the evil villains hear it, it’ll be trouble.
“Even superheroes have weaknesses, right? I do too…”
“Weaknesses?”
“Well. I like cute girls, and I can’t refuse their requests. Is there a weakness like this? I can’t defend myself against beauty tricks at all. As long as a girl acts coquettishly, she will obey her plans.”
“…If Yuu-kun found a girlfriend, will she continue to do this?”
Asakura Yu was asked by her.
He wanted to answer that he would not find a girlfriend in a short period of time, but he couldn’t help but think about the questions she was talking about.
If you have enough points in the future, do you need to find a ‘master’?
Or to maintain the most perfect state in the harem?
In the end, when the system says ‘can only get points from a girlfriend’, does that really mean there can only be one girlfriend?
“It won’t be like that. Let me give you an example, if I were to date Yumiko in the future and then another girl comes to me for help, I would be more considerate of your feelings and would refuse if I could…”
“I see.”
Yumiko really liked the example he gave.
“By the way, Yū-kun, let’s buy some cake as a gift later, since we’re visiting Kawasaki-san’s house, it wouldn’t be good to go empty-handed.”
Yumiko intentionally changed the subject.
“Yeah, you’re right, I almost forgot.”
Asakura Yū nodded, his gaze fixed on her pretty face, which was slightly flushed.
Yumiko’s feelings were really easy to understand, like an exhibit in a storefront, completely unhidden.
If they hadn’t known each other for long, Yumiko would probably give him a lot of points now, but since he had already raised his affection level a lot over the past year, such simple words couldn’t increase his affection level.
Because the base value was too high.
It was like exam scores, the closer you get to the limit, the harder it is to reach, the difficulty of raising from 30 to 50 and from 95 to 98, the latter might be more difficult, even though the numerical difference is the same.
Affection levels work the same way.
Asakura Yū could even say that if he confessed to Yumiko now, he wouldn’t need to prepare a romantic scene or even consider the timing…
The location wasn’t a fireworks festival, or an aquarium, and the time wasn’t Christmas or New Year’s.
It was just an ordinary afternoon, a normal sweets shop, and he could simply say ‘I like you, will you go out with me!’, a confession that simple, another girl might consider for a long time.
But Yumiko, who received the confession, wouldn’t reject him, he had that kind of confidence.
Because their relationship had long surpassed that of friends.
But Asakura Yū wouldn’t confess, points were one reason, another reason was that he really liked the atmosphere of his current interactions with Yumiko and didn’t want to break it in the short term.
He was afraid of getting hurt, afraid of setbacks, if they were to break up, it might take him several years to get over the shadow, a cost he couldn’t accept.
Beautiful memories kept floating in his mind, followed by the pain of a breakup, tormenting him for years, an experience he didn’t dare to imagine or try.
After finishing their sweets, the two packed some to go and rode their bikes for another 20 minutes, arriving at the address Shizuka Hiratsuka had given them.
The Kawasaki house was a single-family home, with a sign on the door that read [Kawasaki Family].
He composed himself.
Asakura Yuu pressed the doorbell.
“Hello? Who is this? This is Kyouka!”
It was a slightly childish voice, Asakura Yuu guessed it was Saki Kawasaki’s younger sister.
“This is Asakura Yuu, is Saki Kawasaki home?”
“Sister!! Your boyfriend is here!” Kyouka Kawasaki shouted towards somewhere.
A child’s innocent and unrestrained words.
“Kyouka-chan, you misunderstood…”
Before Asakura Yuu could finish, Yumiko beside him didn’t even have time to introduce herself, a noisy commotion came from the other side of the doorbell, then quickly, Saki Kawasaki’s cold voice rang out, “Asakura-san! What did you just say to my sister?”
[Saki Kawasaki’s Favorability -10, Points +5000]
An opening salvo!
This favorability deduction is really bold, Kawasaki-san.
“You actually remember my name, it’s truly an honor, although we haven’t spoken much.”
“Answer me, what were you saying to an innocent kindergarten child? Are we dating? I don’t know anything about that!”
“Can we meet and talk about this?”
“Tsk.”
After a sound of disapproval, the door opened, Saki Kawasaki stood with her arms crossed, her eyes fixed unhappily on the two people at the door.
“What do you want?” She looked at the file bag in Asakura Yuu’s hand and understood that it was her own misunderstanding.
[Saki Kawasaki’s Favorability +5, Points +5000]
Everyone, 10-5 equals what?
I’m not good at math…
Hey!
That’s too much favorability deduction!
“To deliver lecture notes and homework for Hiratsuka-sensei.”
Kyouka Kawasaki stood at the door, poked out her cute little head, observing her sister and her ‘boyfriend’.
She asked in a childish and cute voice, “Isn’t this brother your sister’s boyfriend? My sister usually stays alone and doesn’t have any friends come over…”
Saki Kawasaki turned her head and glared at her younger sister, ‘My sister isn’t ugly, do you need to play matchmaker for me?’
Then he walked to Asakura Yu and wanted to take away the handout by robbing.
“Thank you for sending it here.”
“Sorry, Kawasaki-san, I’m not here just to give something.”
Asakura Yu backed back.
“What? I want to persuade me to go back to school? You don’t have to worry about this. I will go to class normally next week. I didn’t go to school 2 days ago because I was feeling uncomfortable.”
“Words like that coming from someone who’s skipped school for 3 days straight? The credibility is just about 0.”
Asakura Yuu observed her face, trying to decipher some sort of message from it.
There were indeed many beautiful girls in Class F of the second year, and the one standing before him was no exception, deserving of such an appellation.
Not to mention her delicate features paired with the enchanting beauty mark at the corner of her right eye, which held a certain allure for the opposite sex…
Even just the simple home attire she was wearing now exuded a homemaker’s charm, stirring thoughts of marriage in one’s heart.
There must be quite a few guys who would fall for this type.
However, Saki Kawasaki wasn’t one to wear her emotions on her sleeve, and after observing for a few seconds, Asakura Yuu still couldn’t figure out her attitude.
The silver-haired girl fell silent for a few seconds before turning around to say:
“That almost-30 teacher thinks calling someone your age over here will solve the problem? Don’t you find that a bit naive?”
“…Come in, though I don’t think you guys can help me figure out a solution.”
She really was in a predicament.
