Chapter 64 The Invincible Territory of the Abusers
“Let’s put my romance views aside for now. Shall we talk about Yui?”
Asakura Yuu steered the conversation back on track.
“The post about you and Yui was deleted by the thread starter the night before last. It had already broken 50 floors, so I guess they were afraid it would blow up?” Hina Ebina pushed up her glasses, “The thread starter just wanted to ask about your relationship with Yui, and after getting the answer that you’re not dating, it’s normal for them to delete it.”
The person who started the first post probably wasn’t trying to smear Yui Yuigahama; they were just gossiping as usual… Almost every day, people gossip about relationships between guys and girls on the forum, and they even cover content from neighboring schools.
You could say it’s a routine thing.
But the second post was the key.
“What made Yui unhappy was probably the other post. You can take out your phones and see for yourselves; it’s already trending.”
Asakura Yuu opened the app.
After scrolling through it for about ten seconds, his expression didn’t change, but his hand holding the phone tightened slightly.
The rumors on there were hard to look at; even he, a guy, felt it was over the top, let alone Yui Yuigahama, the victim.
“It’s all disgusting content.” Yukino’s eyebrows furrowed as she looked at it for a few seconds before closing her phone.
She couldn’t bear to look at it.
A group of people were showcasing the worst side of humanity; it was like a textbook example of the darker side of human nature, making anyone who saw it want to vomit.
It wasn’t just that they were commenting on something they didn’t understand; the opinions on there were all made with the worst intentions.
When Yukino first met Yui Yuigahama, even though she thought Yui was a flashy girl, she only thought she liked dressing up and fashion.
But why could the people on the forum casually type out things like “this girl is a slut,” “she’s dated dozens of guys,” “she’ll do it for money,” and other malicious comments?
Yukino couldn’t understand why Yui was being treated this way.
Unlike herself, a girl who kept her distance from social interactions, Yui was gentle and didn’t usually do anything that would get her attacked.
Yet, she still ended up experiencing something similar to what Yukino went through… being attacked by a group of foolish people.
This wasn’t fair or reasonable!
Yukino Yukinoshita knew she wasn’t good at socializing, so she would get attacked, but Yui didn’t have that flaw; in fact, she had a smooth personality and a good reputation among students.
So why did she still end up being on the receiving end of malicious comments?
“They turn their jealousy into malice and release it in the dark, even covering themselves with a veil…”
Yukino said, sighing.
She’s about to despair over this school, no, the entire high school community.
“Finished reading? What’s Yuu-kun planning to do?” Hina Ebina hadn’t told Yumiko and the others yet, but with how fast bad news spread in the school, everyone would know by tomorrow.
Good news doesn’t travel far, but bad news spreads like wildfire – another example of human nature at its worst.
“Call a teacher?” Asakura Yuu asked back.
Usually, he’d probably say something with a smile, but he wasn’t in a good mood right now.
“That’s just treating the symptoms, not the cause. As long as we don’t find the culprit, Yuigahama-san will face the risk of being slandered again.” Yukino didn’t think he’d actually go to a teacher; that wasn’t like him.
“Yeah. I actually considered asking Hiratsuka-sensei for help, but after thinking about it, I don’t think it’ll work.”
“Why?” Hina asked.
“I put myself in Hiratsuka-sensei’s shoes, and her approach is easy to predict. She’d probably comfort Yui first, then, as an adult, announce something at school, tell the rumor-mongers to delete the posts, and maybe even shut down the anonymous forum. You guys should know the consequences of that.”
You know, that software is used by 2-thirds of the students.
If it gets shut down because of Yui Yuigahama, who will they take their resentment out on?
It can’t be the teacher, right?
The students in this public, top-notch high school aren’t that dense when it comes to their future.
Even the dumbest kids know they can’t beat the adults, and besides, the kids at Soubu High School are all pretty smart – they don’t leave any traces when they do bad things.
“The abusers are in an invincible position… truly…”
Yukino’s lips curled into a smile.
Even the most outstanding person, what can they do in such a situation?
When she was bullied in elementary school, it wasn’t just because of her own shortcomings.
Improve social skills?
Obey the bullies?
Don’t be ridiculous!
Isn’t she being bullied enough?
If you don’t give them a taste of their own medicine, the bullying won’t stop.
Anyone understands this simple truth, right?
The brave get angry and draw their swords against the stronger, while the cowardly get angry and draw their swords against the weaker.
This is the cat-kicking effect; negative emotions are usually vented on those of a lower status.
The boss yells at the manager, the manager yells at the supervisor, the supervisor yells at the team leader, and the team leader yells at the employee.
As the ‘cat’, the employee has no way to vent and can only silently endure it all.
Those who aren’t in the right often try to intimidate with their bluster.
Those who are in the right use friendliness to make friends!
When facing those who kick the cat, don’t be friendly, just fight back!
Slap them in the face, and they’ll know they’re wrong!
“Invincible position? I don’t think so.”
The internet isn’t a lawless land, and just because it’s an anonymous forum, it’s not like you’re safe.
If the police get involved, no one can escape.
But that being said, getting the police involved will only make things more complicated.
Unfortunately, for university admissions and future job prospects, it’s essential to keep a clean record.
If you get entangled with the police in high school, universities and companies will definitely take a closer look.
“No, I think that no matter what you say now, they’ve already succeeded.”
In other words, you’ve already lost.
As long as you’re on Yuigahama-san’s side, you’ve lost completely from the start.
“You mean they can get away with it scot-free? Even if it seems like the law can’t touch them because there are too many people involved, I think the mastermind’s responsibility should be heavier than the accomplices. What do you think?” Asakura Yuu didn’t like Yukino’s words; he hadn’t lost yet.
Or rather, in his eyes, this matter wasn’t over yet.
“Of course, the mastermind should be held accountable, using our methods, right?” Yukino Yukinoshita revealed a smile, which had a cruel undertone.
Don’t think you can hide in the shadows of anonymity and escape responsibility.
You’ll regret it if you dare to hurt my friends and make me regret the decision I made during our last tennis match!
I can guarantee it!
“And for now, the most important thing is to prevent Yui from being hurt again. This is something I’m not good at, so I need your group to take action.” Yukino said to Hina Ebina, “Ebina-san, please help me out.”
“Of course,” Hina Ebina pushed up her glasses. “Yui is my friend.”
Yukino stood up.
“Then, Asakura-kun, go gather clues.”
