Chapter 70 A Three-Person Date
Soubu High School’s summer vacation starts in mid-July.
Around July 5th, we enter exam week, and after finishing the tests and handling some trivial matters, we get to break.
“A faint rumble of thunder, a gloomy sky. I wish for the rain to come, to keep you here…”
The rain of the rainy season is endless, much like dividing ten by 3.
Asakura Yuu admired the morning’s drizzle, muttering the Man’yoshu, while fiddling with the multifunction pen he spent ten thousand points on but only used once for recording.
Today is Sunday.
The hydrangeas outside trembled in the wind, the stifling heat making the young man in the house slightly restless.
The reason for his restlessness wasn’t the rain, but the last monthly exam.
Naturally, having switched to the liberal arts, he was defeated by Yukino Yukinoshita, only securing the second place.
As a punishment for his loss, Yukino Yukinoshita’s request was…?
‘Ugh.’
Asakura Yuu took out his phone and dialed Yukino’s number, and a few seconds later, she picked up.
He spoke:
“President, it’s raining outside.”
“I know,” came Yukino’s cool voice from the other end of the line.
“We can postpone buying a gift for Yui.”
“Just say so if you don’t want to come.”
“But the rain is really heavy.”
Yukino didn’t speak, and after a few seconds: “The rain will stop in half an hour. Meet at LaLaport in Minami (south) Funabashi Station in 2 hours, don’t stand me up.”
Asakura Yuu glanced out the window at the rain that seemed like it would last until tomorrow, then ended the call.
‘The rain will stop? Are you kidding?’
Half an hour later, the rain cleared, and the sunlight pierced through the blockade of dark clouds like a blade.
The dazzling sunlight struck Asakura Yuu’s face, and he went back inside to send Yukino a message… [President Yukinoshita, could it be that you’re a god?]
Instant read.
Instant reply…
[Oh my, Member Asakura doesn’t even know the weather forecast?]
Hey, using the power of technology is such a cheat.
I was looking at the rain outside, contemplating how to bail on our date for a full half hour…
Because…
“Asakura-sama, breaking a promise is not good. You said you’d go out with me today…” Momo’s calm voice echoed in the kitchen.
This was the payment Asakura Yuu offered for her help with hacking.
“I know, the biggest taboo for a guy is to stand up a girl, but I really couldn’t help it. Rather, you’re asking a teenage guy to make a decision about which beautiful girl to date. Isn’t that just too cruel, Shinobu?”
“If both Yukinoshita-sama and I fall into a black hole, and you can only save one, who would you choose?”
“Save… wait, a black hole?”
I swear, the thing I hate most in my life is these either-or questions!
“Yeah.”
If someone falls into that, they’re done for.
There’s no way to save them, right?
Even if I become a literal sun in the future, rescuing someone from a black hole is just too surreal.
Asakura Yuu walked into the kitchen, observing Momo’s face, wondering if she was angry.
She’s still as cute and beautiful as ever, and her wonderful Sakura-like short hair is amazing too.
This is a tough situation.
“I apologize now, can you forgive me?”
“Save me, or her?”
Momo smiled gently, looking like a Sakura blooming in spring.
“Is this question still going? Please, spare me.” Asakura Yuu felt the same way as the hydrangeas outside being tortured by the wind half an hour ago.
“If it were Asakura-sama and my father falling into a black hole, I would save you.”
After all, my father isn’t afraid of black holes at all, Momo thought to herself.
“?”
That’s too much, Momo-sama.
How am I supposed to respond to that?
Asakura Yuu was deeply shocked!
“If you say it like that, of course I’m going to save you.” Asakura Yuu spoke with complete sincerity.
Sorry, Yukinoshita club president, but with Momo-sama sacrificing her father like this, I really can’t help it!
The conversation suddenly turned from girl trouble to something really heavy.
This is tough!
To the Momo’s father I haven’t met yet, I hope you won’t be hurt when you hear this later.
Amen!
“Alright, let’s eat. After that, we’ll go shopping together.” Momo let him off the hook and put her apron away.
“Together?”
“Yes. A 3-person date, I don’t mind. But I’m not sure about Yukinoshita-sama.”
Asakura Yuu watched her bring over breakfast and sarcastically thought to himself: “…I have this weird feeling that I’ll get stabbed by a girl in the future. Going on a date with 2 girls, I’m such a jerk.”
“Always talking about harem stuff, you’re already out in normal girls’ minds, Asakura-sama. You should be more self-aware.”
“Treat every girl with sincerity, that’s what it means to be…”
“A harem king, right? I’ve almost memorized it by now.”
Momo said with a pout, interrupting the long-winded lecture about harems that was about to come out of his mouth.
Now you know why Asakura Yuu doesn’t talk about his harem theories in the Service Club, right?
It’s not about having a quiet and peaceful life, it’s just that Momo is helping Yukino carry the burden.
“Harems, harems, harems. What’s so good about them? Am I not enough for you?”
Momo chewed on her rice, feeling a bit down.
“If this keeps up, there’s no way the pure love route can progress. I don’t want to accept a conclusion where we follow Asakura-sama’s thoughts and enter the harem route.”
Her father, Gid, the ruler of the galaxy, only had one wife, Mother, and if possible, Momo wanted to be like her, keeping her husband firmly in her grasp.
But for now, forget about making Asakura Yuu fall in love with her – Momo realized that this man didn’t even have the idea of romance in his head.
There’s no way to talk about a pure love route!
Maybe I should just take the initiative and make things happen.
…………
After finishing their meal and resting for a bit, the two took the train and got off at Minami Bridge Station.
Asakura Yuu and Momo arrived 10 minutes early, only to find that Yukino Yukinoshita was already there.
“You’re a bit earlier than I thought,” Yukino said, looking at Asakura Yuu as he approached.
“You’re a bit earlier than I thought,” Asakura Yuu replied, mimicking her.
Then, Yukino held out her right hand.
“What is it?”
“You know.”
“Do you really need to charge royalties for a phrase like that? Isn’t that a bit excessive?” Asakura Yuu sighed and prepared to take out his wallet.
But someone beat him to it…
“Yukinoshita-sama, Asakura-sama didn’t bring much cash, so I’ll pay the fee for parroting, if that’s okay?”
Momo smiled and placed a 1,000-yen bill in Yukino’s hand.
This made Yukino Yukinoshita furrow her brow.
For some reason, she felt a bit uncomfortable inside.
This was the first time she’d been interrupted.
Usually, Yukino and Asakura Yuu’s conversations were like they were in a different dimension and frequency, and no one could interrupt them, not even Yui Yuigahama…
“No need, it was just a joke,” Yukino said, returning the money.
“Momo-sama, what brought you here today?”
“I’m helping Asakura-sama pick out a birthday gift for Yuigahama-sama,” Momo said with a smile, her small tail wagging mischievously behind her.
“I see.”
Yukino couldn’t help but feel that this distant relative of Asakura Yuu’s was filled with an unusual hostility towards her.
‘Why?’ she couldn’t understand.
