    Chapter 103 Old People

The estate of the Asagami family.

Kuzuki received a cordial reception from the master of the house.

In a spacious room, Mayuki Asagami and Kuzuki sat facing each other across a low table, separated by a wooden partition.

After Kuzuki briefly explained his purpose, Mayuki Asagami apologized: “I’m really sorry, I’m currently studying in Tokyo and won’t be able to graduate for some time. If Sir has any business, please feel free to have me convey it.”

Kuzuki nodded silently and said: “There is something I want to give Fujino. Madam, may I borrow a writing set?”

Mayuki Asagami clapped her hands and instructed the servant waiting outside: “Go get the writing implements.”

A short while later, the servant entered with ink, paper, and a stone for grinding ink.

    Kuzuki said: “Please wait, Madam.”

Mayuki Asagami nodded slightly, indicating she was unaffected.

Kuzuki then began writing the secret techniques of (Northern Darkness Divine Skill) in a hurry. The content wasn’t very extensive, and it took only a few pages to write out. He also quickly wrote out the (Military Killing Fist) technique, which similarly required only a few pages.

Once the text was complete, he handed a bundle of paper with drawings over to Mayuki Asagami and said: “Please help me convey this.”

After exchanging a few polite words, Kuzuki took his leave.

Mayuki Asagami escorted Kuzuki out of the estate. At the parting moment, she said: “If Sir ever needs help with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. It’s all thanks to you that Fujino has changed so much over the years.”

    “I will,” Kuzuki replied.

With these words, Kuzuki left the Asagami family estate.

    ········

Due to his sudden disappearance, the teacher’s career came to an abrupt end.

Kuzuki fell into a brief state of confusion.

    What was next?…

Martial Arts meant more as a hobby to Kuzuki than as something he “needed” to achieve. In fact, he didn’t even have his own goals.

Even today, Kuzuki is constantly driven forward by various requests and missions.

Wandering aimlessly in Mifune City, Kuzuki rarely found himself lost in thought. His consciousness seemed to drift away, leaving only his body moving automatically.

Then, when he came back to his senses, he discovered himself standing on a narrow path in the middle of a dense bamboo grove. At the end of the dimly lit path stood a mansion that rivalled the Asagami family estate.

    The Ryougi Family.

Before Kuzuki realized it, he had already walked all the way here.

Though his mind was empty, it wasn’t as if he was completely unaware. There had to be a reason that drove him to come here.

After explaining his purpose to the guards at the gate, he was soon brought inside.

It had been over a month since he’d last seen Kokutou Mikiya…

No—that wasn’t right. It had been five years.

And, strictly speaking, he was no longer Kokutou Mikiya, but Ryougi Mikiya.

That’s right. Kokutou Mikiya had married Ryougi Shiki, joined the Ryougi family, and taken the name Ryougi Mikiya.

When Ryougi Mikiya saw Kuzuki, his surprise was tinged with joy as he said, “Kuzuki-san, where have you been all these years?”

“It’s a long story. In short, I went somewhere far away.”

Ryougi Mikiya nodded in admiration. “It must have been far. Back then, when Asagami-san asked me to look into your whereabouts, I nearly turned Mifune City upside down trying to find you…”

Kuzuki was silent for a moment before he replied, “I’ve only just returned. Can you tell me what happened after I disappeared?”

“Of course. A lot happened while you were gone…”

With simple words, Ryougi Mikiya recounted the events from those years.

Kuzuki’s sudden disappearance had caused quite a stir at the Academy. Not only did Fujino, Seo, and Azaka take turns investigating, but even members of the Academy Board were looking for him.

Among them, Fujino went so far as to personally conduct her own search in addition to asking Kokutou Mikiya for help.

For quite some time, she wandered the streets of Mifune City at night, showing up in all sorts of places.

That attracted a lot of incidents. Most were caused by delinquent punks who, seeing a pretty girl walking alone at night, tried to mess with her—only to end up with their limbs broken by her fists. It became such a thing that she earned the urban legend nickname “The Violet-Haired Killer Wandering the Night.”

As time passed, most people came to believe Kuzuki had disappeared from Mifune City just as mysteriously as he had arrived. They gave up searching for him.

    Only Asagami Fujino persisted.

That was, until a year later, when she got into university and moved to Tokyo. In the four years since, she had rarely come back.

Then there was Aozaki Touko. After the serial killer case in 1999, she disappeared as suddenly and freely as the wind.

According to Kokutou Azaka, her master—Aozaki Touko—seemed to have had her Sealing Designation revoked and was officially recognized by the Mage’s Association. She was likely at the Mage’s Association headquarters in London now.

After finishing Touko’s story, Mikiya briefly spoke about his own life with Ryougi Shiki.

In a little over a month after KuzukiDisappeared.

Because of an unexpected event, Touko asked for an investigation, which unexpectedly led to Magus……Araya Souren.

He created a large barrier in the small Kawakawa Apartment and tried to captureRyougi Shiki. His plan failed, and he was killed by Ryougi Shiki.

    ……This happened around late 1998.

In 1999, the Academy had a group amnesia event, and Ryougi Shiki was asked to investigate it with Kokutou Azaka.

They eventually discovered that it was related to Mage’s Association’sSealing Designation……Kurogiri Satsuki was involved. He was also a Magus and connected to Araya Souren. Araya Souren asked him to returnRyougi Shiki’s lost memories, which led to the incident.

After that, they encountered another serial killer event.

A serial killer who had disappeared for four years resurfaced and committed a crime.

After going through extremely dangerous situations, they finally killed the serial killer. Kokutou Mikiya lost his left eye, and Ryougi Shiki lost his left arm in the process.

They later learned that this serial killer was also connected to Araya Souren and was one of Araya Souren’s discarded children. He caused the most damage toRyougi Shiki among all the pieces.

In the latter half of 1999, they also encountered theBombing Demon event.

A demon with future vision attacked Ryougi Shiki and tried to kill her. However, she killed its right eye, which had the ability to see the future, and lost that ability.

That year, Kokutou Mikiya marriedRyougi Shiki. The following year, they had a daughter named……Ryougi Mana.

    ········

    What a rough year.

After all that, Ryougi Mikiya decided to make tea and invite Kuzuki.

At that moment, the door to the guest room opened, andRyougi Shiki walked in with a small girl holding her hand.

Seeing Kuzuki’s figure, Ryougi Shiki raised his eyebrows and said, “Oh my, UnexpectedlyKuzukiSir is still alive. I really wanted to kill you……”

“Shin~”RyougiMikiya responded with a scowl: “It’s been years since we last met. There’s no need to say something like that when we finally meet.”

“Hmph.”Ryougi Shiki cut off a sound and didn’t speak.

RyougiMikiya picked up the small girl and laughed, saying, “You didn’t say that back then? Hmm……Oh right. ‘That guy is still alive; even I couldn’t kill him, so he wouldn’t die easily’—that’s what you said, right?”

“You’re really something else when it comes to trivial things,” Ryougi Shiki said, carefully looking at Kuzuki. He felt that this guy gave off a dangerous vibe and instinctively opened theMystic Eyes of Death Perception to look at Kuzuki. Ryougi Shiki’s expression changed to shock: “Hey hey… what have you been doing all these years? You even managed to kill……”

Even theDeath Line was almost invisible.

Ryougi Shiki glared at him and turned off theMystic Eyes.”Well, never mind. Mikiya, I have some things to do. I’ll leave the girl with you.”

And just like that, he left.

…Not much has changed, Ryougi Shiki.

The idea of Flashing By in his mind, Kuzuki stood up and looked at the trembling Mikiya: “Unexpectedly you even have a daughter now, so, considering the wedding part, this is just a gift.”

Saying that, he gave Mikiya an object.
