Chapter 104 Fuyuki City
The thing Kuzuki gave the little girl was simple.
The Sect Master’s Jade Pendant of Heavenly Mountain Sect, aside from its special significance, isn’t particularly valuable otherwise.
He placed the pendant in front of her and shook it slightly. Mikiya, who seemed happy with that, picked up the pendant and played with it in her hands.
“I already know the basics, so I should leave.” Kuzuki turned around and looked at Mikiya.
Mikiya was surprised: “Just came back and leaving?” He suddenly frowned and said: “Because of some bad influences? Enemy or others ···”
“Not like you think.”
Kuzuki interrupted his guess, saying: “Last time he disappeared was just an accident, but this time, I have things to do.”
“Goodbye, Mikiya-san.”
Without hesitation, after saying goodbye to Mikiya, Kuzuki left the Ryougi family.
At the gate of the sect, a lazy-sounding voice said: “Before I kill you, don’t give your life to anyone ···”
Ryougi Shiki was still dressed in a kimono and leaning against the wall: “A really annoying guy asked me to find you, just appeared and died, then I can’t explain anything.”
“I’ll handle it……” Kuzuki paused before taking long strides away.
Next, he would go to the Land of Fate.
That place, the beginning and end……Fuyuki City.
Hmm……!
With the sound of a trumpet, the train began to move.
Kuzuki sat in a window seat on the seventh car of the train, quietly watching the scenery outside as it passed by.
For this journey’s destination……Fuyuki City, Kuzuki has a special mood.
In the original history, if Kuzuki hadn’t crossed over…
Kuzuki Souichirou would turn 20 at some point and be activated as an AssassinationTool to complete his Mission before being required to commit suicide.
……But Kuzuki Souichirou didn’t do that.
In his heart, he couldn’t accept such a thing after training for 20 years. He was constantly honing his skills every day and every moment. It wasn’t because he felt dissatisfied with being created as a Tool for someone; it was because the Mission seemed too simple.
He almost effortlessly killed the Target, finding its simplicity to be absurd compared to all the preparation he had put into his entire life.
So Kuzuki Souichirou didn’t kill himself and fled to another city instead.
He thought such a life could only last less than half a year, but unexpectedly, it lasted five years. The Group didn’t send anyone after him, and he made up his mind to keep living.
Until five years later, when an accident caused him to be drawn into the Holy Grail War.
In the end, he killed a woman and died because of her. Of course, before that, she had sacrificed herself to protect him.
The above is Kuzuki’s understanding of Kuzuki Souichirou’s ‘predetermined fate’.
In the fates listed above, five World Lines can be clearly seen.
All of Kuzuki Souichirou’s fates end in death.
If the World Line were to converge, could Kuzuki escape his fate at its arrival?
However, the World Line converging is just another way of saying it within The World.
Maybe his actions would lead to the creation of new World Lines as well.
Kuzuki isn’t a man willing to live under fate’s thumb. If there truly was such a thing as fate restricting him, he would use his strength to twist that fate (without considering the idea that twisting fate is just one of its many forms).
How do you truly oppose fate?
As long as Kuzuki doesn’t go to Fuyuki City, none of these things will happen. The events will develop in an unknown direction: for example, the convergence of World Lines or the creation of new ones.
However, he believes such behavior is just avoiding fate.
He defines opposing fate as changing the outcome of things when they would naturally lead to his death. Instead of dying, he survives and even kills his enemies.
In short, he destroys every possible conclusion that could lead to his death.
Besides preparing to ‘oppose’ his own fate, Kuzuki has another reason for going to Fuyuki City.
Curiosity.
He’s curious about the original history of Kuzuki Souichirou and why he could find his entire life’s meaning in just a few weeks.
Kuzuki isn’t Kuzuki Souichirou, but Kuzuki Souichirou is Kuzuki. So Kuzuki wants to know this and feels curious about it.
If, in a way, he can get some inspiration from this, that would be perfect.
With this idea in mind, Kuzuki stepped onto the land of Fuyuki City.
Fuyuki City is a small coastal town located in Japan, known for its extremely long winters. In reality, it has a Warmth climate and rarely experiences harsh winters. It’s said that digging two wells might find hot springs.
The first thing one does upon arriving in a city is to gather information about the city.
Kuzuki bought a map of Fuyuki City and a travel guide, which gave him an initial understanding of the city’s situation.
In Fuyuki City, there’s a river that spans across the entire city, dividing it into two distinct architectural areas. The east side is Xindu, a modernized new town with everything one could need. The west side is Shinyama Town, an old town consisting mainly of residential areas. The Miyagawa Bridge connects both sides.
In the 1994 Holy Grail War, the Weiyuan River made several appearances. It’s likely to appear again in the fifth Holy Grail War.
Shinyama Town: The town is built along a mountain, with slopes visible everywhere. From the Miyagawa Bridge heading west, there are notable places: Homunhara Academy, shopping street, residential areas, and Ryūdō Temple.
Xindu: Destroyed by fire during the 1994 Holy Grail War but rebuilt within a decade into a steel forest. The northern part has a port, and there’s a church on the southeastern mountain slope, belonging to the Holy Church.
After stepping out of the Xindu train station, Kuzuki crosses the Miyagawa Bridge and arrives at the private Homunhara Academy.
In “Fate,” he should have arrived here two years ago. After teaching for three years, he would have been drawn into the fifth Holy Grail War.
But now, he’s late.
[Would this affect Fate?]
With this in mind, he conducted a teacher interview.
The process went extremely smoothly. As a top-tier university graduate and someone who had previously worked at Reien Girls’ Academy, Kuzuki was directly appointed as the director of Class A for his first year, teaching World History.
Speaking of it, Homunhara Academy is much smaller than Reien Girls’ Academy, with a size roughly one-tenth of Reien Girls’ Academy in terms of area.
The person guiding Kuzuki, who is both familiar and unfamiliar, is…… Fujimura Taiga.
Although Fujimura Taiga isn’t entirely unknown, this is the first time meeting her properly. Before this, he had only known her through works with a superficial understanding.
“Teacher Kuzuki, please teach me a lot!” Fujimura Taiga cheerfully said.
Kuzuki shook hands with her and said, “Please teach me a lot, Teacher Fujimura.”
When he touched Fujimura Taiga’s hand, his Mystic Eyes also gave him her combat power index.
He’s an ordinary person among strong individuals.
