    Chapter 117 Negotiation

“Mind How to Improve Temporarily Not Mentioned”

This day, after school at Homunhara Academy, Matou Shinji actively sought out the door.

Time was after the sixth period, around 4 PM.

Students flowed out through the school gate in groups of two.

Faculty office, Matou Shinji knocked on the door and slouched into the room.

“Teacher Kuzuki, can I waste a bit of your time?” Matou Shinji spoke politely, which seemed different from Kuzuki’s usual impression.

Kuzuki stood up and walked silently beside him. As he passed by Matou Shinji, he turned sideways and said: “Come with me.”

Following Kuzuki, Matou Shinji and the other individual arrived at the Teaching Building’s rooftop.

Looking down from the edge of the rooftop at the academy’s surroundings, Matou Shinji sneered: “Teacher Kuzuki, I’ve already completed what you asked me to do.”

Kuzuki wasn’t fazed by his tone and simply said: “Where is the target?”

“Well, don’t rush so much. That’s bad news for you.” Matou Shinji stood tall with his hands crossed over his chest, arrogantly saying: “Before that, I need to confirm if you can meet my requirements.”

“What requirements?” Kuzuki asked without hesitation.

Matou Shinji’s expression darkened suddenly and said: “I want you to kill Matou Zouken!”

“Can I ask why you’re doing this?”

“Why? Hmph, no need for that. Just tell me if it’s possible.”

Matou Zouken was indeed on Kuzuki’s kill list, but this wasn’t the reason to follow Matou Shinji’s wishes. Kuzuki said calmly: “Your request doesn’t match your offering. A single message isn’t enough.”

Matou Shinji sneered and his face seemed distorted.

“Well, that didn’t work out.” He paused and said: “You’re a Magus, right? I want…”

“No, I’m not a Magus,” Kuzuki interrupted him.

Matou Shinji was surprised and became harsher, saying: “Hey! Hey! You aren’t even a Magus, yet you dare to haggle with me? I thought you were a Magus when I agreed to trade with you. If you’re not a Magus, what’s the point of this? Daring to mock me? Hmph! That’s enough!”

Complaining under his breath on one side and walking away angrily on the other, it seems he won’t bother Kuzuki anymore.

A Phantom flashed, and Kuzuki suddenly appeared in front of Matou Shinji.

Startled by Kuzuki’s sudden appearance, Matou Shinji stumbled back a step, almost falling.

“Get out of the way. I don’t have time to deal with someone like you!” Matou Shinji forced himself to stay calm and said firmly: “I’m not interested in your nonsense.”

Kuzuki stretched out a finger, and Fighting Spirit shot out along the finger, transforming into a white light pillar. It collided with Matou Shinji’s Body and sank into the roof.

    “Blaa!”

Concrete Ground was knocked out a finger-width hole deep within it.

Matou Shinji remained motionless, his face pale with cold sweat dripping down.

Such power, hitting the Human Body would be as fast as a gun’s power. The fragile Human Body Absolute would be torn open into a hole.

But such a dangerous thing had just grazed his Body!

“You think how you want to, you think of relying on this method to make me yield? You… don’t forget, I’m the successor of Matou family. If you dare harm me, my grandfather will kill you!” Matou Shinji shouted.

“Oh? Didn’t you say you were going to kill Matou Zouken?”

“Not your business. Anyway, I advise you not to do anything impulsive.” Matou Shinji whispered: “I’ll just tell you about that in a more tactful way.”

Kuzuki remained calm, looking at the repulsive Matou Shinji and saying plainly: “First, I’m not threatening you. The method I used was just to explain one thing to you. Even though I’m not a Magus, I have strength that matches a Magus. Second, our agreement still stands. If you want to know something, tell me, and I’ll give you an equivalent reward. Of course, the price of the reward will be determined based on the content of what I know.”

Matou Shinji clearly didn’t believe Kuzuki’s words. He trusted his own judgment more.

“The Dead Apostle you’re looking for has already been dealt with by the Burial Mechanism people.” MatouShinj suddenly said: “The Agent who solved the Dead Apostle is still in Fuyuki City, apparently at the Fuyuki Church. If you want to cause trouble, I suggest you do it sooner.”

Unexpectedly, Kuzuki didn’t need to continue because he had already been dealt with by Holy Church people.

Matou Shinji took advantage of the moment when Kuzuki was thinking and bent his Body to sneak away.

“You’re not a Magus, are you?” Kuzuki suddenly said.

These words like a scorpion’s sting pierced Matou Shinji deeply. He turned sharply around, his face twisted in distortion.

“The successor of Matou family can only be me! Do you know what I mean? I’m just waiting to get the Magecraft Magic Crest. Once I have it, I’ll become a Magus, and the best one at that!”

“Can someone without a Magic Circuit inherit the Magecraft Magic Crest?” Kuzuki calmly explained.

Matou Shinji stopped moving, muttering: “Who said I don’t have a Magic Circuit? Who said I don’t? It’s just… blocked for now. I possess the Magic Circuit. If I can find a way, I’ll become a Magus.”

But that was all an illusion.

    No, it wasn’t.

No matter how he tried to argue, Matou Shinji knew this truth in his heart. He just couldn’t accept it.

For years, he had always been the best one. But now he was told that was an illusion. You’re just a useless layman without any talent.

    Unacceptable.

The deep wound in Matou Shinji’s soul was ruthlessly exposed, and Pain forced him to rely on lies to deceive himself.

……I can become a Magus if I find the right method.

Repeating this to himself, Matou Shinji ignored Kuzuki’s existence and walked down the stairs with his head lowered.

Kuzuki didn’t care what Matou Shinji thought. He turned to Matou Shinji’s back and said, “The promise still stands. If you change your mind, come find me, and I’ll give you an equivalent reward.”

Matou Shinji either didn’t hear or chose not to hear him, walking away without turning around.

Kuzuki stood on the Rooftop, watching the clouds being blown by the wind above the Academy.

The guy who created Corpse Person was surprisingly a Dead Apostle.

However, it was unexpected that Kuzuki hadn’t yet found him when he was first taken out by an Agent of the Burial Mechanism.

He certainly wouldn’t go looking for the Agent’s trouble as Matou Shinji suggested.

Since Kuzuki had intended to kill that Dead Apostle, and the Agent had already dealt with it, he canceled his target.

He was wondering about Matou Shinji. Could this individual still be saved?

From Kuzuki’s interactions with him, he wasn’t exactly a good person. The impression he gave was just that of someone slightly repulsive.

If he didn’t change his ways soon, it would quickly become something very repulsive and then deeply evil.

[Hmm, as a Teacher, this kind of student needs to be corrected properly.]

Matou Shinji didn’t know that the reward he was supposed to receive had been secretly altered by Kuzuki into something else.
