    Chapter 127 Battle Selection

    [Trouble].

Kuzuki clung to the surface of the Monster, wriggling on its body for a moment before being sucked to the very surface. At the same time, it faced an attack from hundreds of Monster tentacles.

Kuzuki kicked at the Monster’s Body Surface and bounced back, slipping through the gaps between countless whip-like tentacles to land on the ground far away.

As he moved farther away, the Monster’s tentacles began to fuse into larger, thicker limbs, swinging toward Kuzuki.

    Boom!

The sweeping hundred-meter-long limbs, like a giant broom, instantly turned a vast pile of rubble into flat ground.

This Monster had the ability to slightly alter the shape of the land.

Kuzuki dodged the Monster’s wild limbs on one side while continuously using Hokuto Shinken (Fist of the North Star) to break them on the other.

However, this approach was extremely inefficient. Except for the parts hit by Hokuto Shinken (Fist of the North Star), even if a limb was broken off, it would reattach upon contact with the Monster’s Body.

Even if Kuzuki killed 100 Kabane every second, he would still need hours to defeat this Monster.

Therefore, Kuzuki didn’t intend to kill it; instead, he planned to bind it so it couldn’t move forward or destroy the Academy’s buildings behind him and kill any remaining survivors.

All he needed was for a Nuclear bomb explosion to reset the World Line, allowing him to escape this Monster naturally.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

The towering Monster attacked relentlessly, destroying the surrounding environment over and over again.

The nearby terrain had been completely transformed into a fine, sandy flatland resembling a desert, with smoke rising into the air to cover half of the Monster’s body, making it look like a mountain range hidden in the clouds!

    Megurigaoka Academy’s Teaching Building.

The building occupies a very large area but is not particularly tall, consisting of only four floors.

On the rooftop of the building, there was an automated greenhouse with four pale-faced girls leaning against each other, staring at the Monster far away.

A pink-haired Short-haired Girl wearing a strange hat stood beside them, her arms trembling as she hugged herself.

Beside her was a mature-looking older sister with brown hair who was comforting her, but worry flickered in her eyes.

A violet-haired Twin-tails girl with a shovel in hand grips the handle so hard that her back turns white. She bites her lip and says, “It seems like there’s a Monster fighting someone out there. Even though it stopped moving for a bit, it was heading this way earlier. We need to avoid it.”

A silver-haired Short-haired Girl girl sits helplessly on the ground, looking up and saying, “Monsters are everywhere outside. How do we even dodge them?”

Ebisuzawa Kurumi, known as Ebisuzawa Kurumi, a violet-haired girl who isn’t afraid of anything, swings her shovel to fight Zombie Primal Energy despite the danger. Now, she can’t control herself from feeling uneasy.

    That kind of Monster.

Just its Body Type makes it impossible for anyone to resist, and with its incredibly fast Speed, only a car can keep far enough away.

But the problem is that there are thousands of Zombie-like Monsters wandering around the school, all craving Living flesh.

With four girls who aren’t strong enough to fight back, how do they even survive in this situation?

However, the Monster hasn’t moved since it appeared and has been changing Body Types while attacking a specific target. This gives Ebisuzawa Kurumi some hope.

Her vision is still decent enough to spot a small shadow-like figure that’s fighting the Monster.

After seeing this, Ebisuzawa Kurumi doubts whether she’s hallucinating due to extreme Despair or if her Spirit has malfunctioned. She imagines an overpowered being who can fight the Monster.

Looking at her three companions, a wave of warmth rises in her heart.

With divine intervention, there really is someone who can fight that Monster and defeat it!

    Slam!

A whip-like chain stretches for hundreds of meters across the ground, creating deep grooves in the earth. Amidst the thick smoke, Kuzuki jumps back and lands on a concrete pillar used for training.

After nearly ten minutes of battling the Monster, it still shows no signs of fatigue.

The prearranged Nuclear Bomb that was supposed to arrive hasn’t shown up. Kuzuki becomes puzzled.

[The WorldHumanGovernment has changed its action guidelines and isn’t preparing the Nuclear Bomb anymore?]

Malice, Reset, Nuclear Bomb, Super Strong Monster, active rights, passive—these words flash through Kuzuki’s mind as she pieces together the situation.

Alien Monsters can reset World Lines, but this ability is passive and only used in a life-or-death situation. However, the constant resetting of World Lines suggests that the Monster is actively seeking its own demise to cause changes in the World Line.

Once Kuzuki appears outside, she’ll attract endless attacks—starting with small monsters and gradually stronger ones. This is clearly the Alien Monsters’ doing.

The first time, he had just arrived, and Nuclear Bomb fired an Explosion. That virus-like Black Light Virus collection body hadn’t gotten to use its power yet when the World restarted.

The second time, things got weird. A hundred Lickers surrounded him, then a Muscle Giant started chasing. Kuzuki killed the strongest Giant before Nuclear Bomb finally showed up.

This time, it was just one boss-level Monster attacking Kuzuki. Unlike the previous two times, Nuclear Bomb didn’t drop down.

The first time took five minutes, the second twenty minutes, and this time had been forty minutes or more. Nuclear Bomb still hadn’t dropped down.

Why was there such a big change?

Kuzuki deduced: Maybe that Alien Monster was the puppeteer controlling everything. It used some method to remotely control Monsters attacking Kuzuki. Every time it controlled a Monster got killed by Kuzuki, it would seek death itself, luring Nuclear Bomb to attack and causing the World Line to restart, creating new types of Monsters, then continuing to control other types of Monsters to attack Kuzuki.

If one type didn’t work, he’d try another. Eventually, he’d find a Super Strong Monster that could kill Kuzuki.

Thinking about this, Kuzuki’s expression grew increasingly sharp.

Assuming things were as he suspected, there were now two options.

Option one: Take this Monster and bypass the survivors to go find the Alien Monster. It wouldn’t restart anyway.

The drawback of this approach was facing off against two bosses at once, and he couldn’t guarantee that the Alien Monster wouldn’t cause a new mutation in the Kabane Fusion Monster.

Option two: Kill the Fusion Monster and let the Alien Monster restart the World Line. Use the Dimensional Overlap Point as a stepping stone to get closer to the Alien Monster.

The advantage here was only having to face off against one Alien Monster, not others. Plus, the special prompt in [Assassination Book] mentioned that touching other Worldline Children would tilt the Dimensional Consciousness in his favor. (Clearly, since Alien Monsters are so strong, that’s why [Dark Flower (Secret Mission)] gave out that warning.)

The downside was wasting time, increasing the number of World Line restarts, making The World even less stable, and possibly encountering very tricky Monsters that Kuzuki couldn’t defeat. This possibility wasn’t small either.
