    Chapter 129 Restart and Hope

On the Attribute page of Assassination Book.

Two lines of text briefly appear in the annotation under “Acquired.”

    [Composite·Qi Lock], [Technique: Subtle Mastery].

It seems to be an unstable state, and the two lines disappear quickly.

Clearly, the previous state was similar to some form of enlightenment, and it cannot be considered as a true description of Kuzuki’s strength.

    Outside.

After the core of the Fusion Monster is destroyed, the massive body, which has over sixty floors, suddenly begins to disintegrate.

With the exterior pressure reduced, Kuzuki begins to fall downward.

At that moment, an awe-inspiring scene takes shape.

Spread across the sky like a roof, covering the entire heavens, denser than rain, falling like hailstones—Kabane zombies pile up into a towering mountain.

Then comes a chilling sight that makes your hair stand on end.

Like sand sharks packed into a small pond, the densely packed Kabane lose their restraints and act in chaotic disorder. The piles of zombies surge with an unbearable stench.

Kuzuki quickly escapes here before landing and moves toward Megurigaoka Academy.

He has no interest in killing the hundreds of thousands of Kabane behind him, as it would be time-consuming and inefficient. Plus, he hasn’t accumulated any Assassination Points yet.

If his assumptions are correct, a Nuclear Bomb will arrive soon. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about those Monsters—everything will restart anyway.

When Kuzuki reaches the roof of the Teaching Building at Megurigaoka Academy.

Four weak girls are nervously staring at the visitor.

Kuzuki scans all four with a glance, confirming that they are indeed the individuals he is looking for.

They must be the Worldline Children mentioned in the Assassination Book. When they are nearby, they can oppose the Alien Monster’s World Line Reset.

A Nuclear Bomb will fall, but its exact location cannot be predicted.

If a Nuclear Bomb falls too close, the four girls might not survive besides Kuzuki. This must be avoided at all costs.

“The Nuclear Bomb will arrive soon; it’s unsafe here.”

For the four girls, everything is currently so hard to understand, but Kuzuki doesn’t need them to understand—she just needs them to be safe.

The most confident Ebisuzawa Kurumi steps forward, blocking the other three girls behind her, and says, “Who are you? What do you want?”

Kuzuki slightly frowns, with a tall and muscular figure. Even without Energy Momentum enhancement, she exudes an extremely dangerous presence.

When she frowns, her facial expression radiates a special intimidating force. This may not be Kuzuki’s intention, but it still frightens the four girls, who are crying and huddled together.

“There’s no need to be afraid; I don’t have Malice in my heart. My name is Ebisuzawa Kurumi, Yukimi Shiroi, Jitsuki Miharu, and Kyouya Kirishiki. I’m here to protect you.” She calls out the names of the four girls one by one, calming some of their panic.

For those who know their own name, people tend to relax a bit.

Relaxing just a little is enough. Facing these main characters, Kuzuki doesn’t want to use special methods; that might lead to some unexpected consequences.

Kuzuki continues, saying, “The outside world has fallen into chaos. Countries and governments will soon collapse in their final moments. Maybe they’ll use Incineration. Staying out there is dangerous.”

Seeing that Kuzuki hasn’t used Violence, the leader, Yukimi Shiroi—a long-haired girl with a big sister’s aura—blinks her big eyes and says, “The school has underground safety facilities, but there are Monsters blocking the way.”

Kuzuki nods and says, “Let’s go. I’ll clear them out.”

She leads the way down the stairs.

The four girls exchange glances but eventually follow under Yukimi Shiroi’s leadership.

In the quiet hallway, footsteps echo.

A pile of desks and chairs blocks the first-floor staircase, with a horde of Zombies attacking it like they’ve been drugged.

    Boom!

Fierce Wind rages, with debris and body parts flying. In an instant, the first floor is cleared out.

Kuzuki steps over the remains and continues down.

Following behind her, Ebisuzawa Kurumi holds a shovel and cautiously asks a question.

“That guy, please tell me how you knew our names and why you’re protecting us.”

Kuzuki didn’t even turn around: “I had heard about your things before, like watching movies. You are the main characters in the movie plot, and you shouldn’t die before the end of the story.”

    “Hmm…”

Ebisuzawa Kurumi was staring at Kuzuki, completely confused by what he was saying.

Holding a gun in her silver hair, straight tree beauty Akira unconsciously said: “What about you?”

    “Me? Just a passing guest.”

A girl with black hair named Megurigaoka Academy teacher Sakura Sato, known as Cich, suddenly snapped out of her dream state and whispered: “Are you from the Divine Faction here to save us?”

    Kuzuki remained silent.

They arrived at the underground level.

Only emergency lights flickered, casting a dim glow around them.

Inserting her hand into the automated iron door, Kuzuki pushed it open with force, the distorted metal noise echoing as the door twisted into an odd shape resembling a backwards ‘V’.

A zombie suddenly burst out from behind the door.

    It lunged at Kuzuki.

In the girls’ exclamations, Kuzuki simply stretched her hand, her palm clamping firmly around the zombie’s neck like a tiger’s claw.

She raised her arm to grab Kuzuki, but before she could touch him, she heard a crack sound as his spine snapped. The zombie’s arms dropped limply.

    “No!”

    “Teacher!”

Her first shout was directed at Kuzuki, but her second was aimed at the zombie on his hand.

    Teacher?

Kuzuki looked at the zombie she had lifted and remembered a name.

Sakura Sato, known as Cich, Megurigaoka Academy teacher, a warm and kind teacher like an older sister from next door.

Now I can no longer see the Beauty Teacher who was once so kind and nurturing. All that remains is a monster without reason or intellect, driven only by bloodlust.

Four girls stand in awe, surrounded by Sakura Sato’s Corpses, their tears flowing uncontrollably.

Kuzuki suddenly looks up, his gaze piercing through the thick layers of earth and toward the sky.

The sense of impending danger is growing stronger, but it still falls within acceptable limits.

[At this level, the defenses of this underground facility are more than sufficient.]

    A minute later.

    BANG!

The second layer suddenly shakes violently, sending a cloud of dust falling down.

After the shockwave from the Nuclear Bomb explosion subsides, an eerie sound wave resembling thunder echoes through the air. This resonant sound continues for several minutes before ceasing.

Yuuri Watanabe wipes her tears and stands up, saying to Kuzuki: “Kuzuki-san, what’s going on? Could it be… a Nuclear Bomb?” (She had once asked Kuzuki his name while walking down the stairs)

Kuzuki nods slightly before feeling an unusual wave of energy sweep over him. It travels across the country and then returns to him.

In the next second, Kuzuki finds himself standing on the familiar Rooftop again!
