Chapter 13 My Unerring Plan
Kill or not to kill? That is the question.
April 21st marks the day of the Assassination task target, and just before departure, Kuzuki Souichirou hesitated for a moment considering his next steps.
Before discovering his true identity, Kuzuki had planned to resist The Group.
His first step was to intentionally fail the Assassination task in order to find an enemy for The Group. If he failed, then the Assassination target would inevitably investigate who was responsible for this action. If it could be traced back to The Group, it might cause significant trouble for them… This kind of Assassination organization cannot remain in the open.
However, after realizing that he is Kuzuki Souichirou, looking forward, he realizes that once the task is completed, The Group does not care about whether he lives or dies… After all, it will be used as a one-time tool.
Therefore, his motivation to resist The Group has diminished significantly. Initially, he thought that completing the task would erase him and serve as an alibi. But clearly, that is not the case; The Group only cares about whether the task was completed, not about the tool itself… Since tools do not understand The Group, whether they are erased or not makes no difference to them.
So the problem arises:
Kill a member of the Government Official class and commit a sin against the government. Do not kill a Government Official and commit a sin against The Organization.
After thinking for a while, Kuzuki decided to complete the task in his opinion, as he believes that The Group is closer to “the inner world” and poses a greater threat.
Moreover, Kuzuki Souichirou successfully Assassinated an important figure in the future but suffered no significant repercussions.
“There exists a mysterious world that, in certain aspects, is quite twisted…” Kuzuki has memorized this entire history, taking just three days to learn it all… In matters of rote memorization, Kuzuki stands out with his innate talent.
In the seemingly peaceful world, there are hidden currents everywhere.
Besides “Mage’s Association” and “Holy Church,” two opposing groups in the inner world, there also exist “Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors” and other non-human entities active among us.
This makes world history seem very strange indeed.
Many so-called coincidences of disasters or upheavals actually stem from these organizations, and governments are powerless to address them.
What kind of trouble would a sudden death bring?
Before leaving, Kuzuki stood in front of the mirror, neatly dressed in his standard white shirt and black suit with a properly tied tie.
The man he saw in the mirror was a strong young man with cold eyes, short disheveled hair, and an air of unwelcoming presence.
That’s unacceptable…
Kuzuki tried to change his expression but only received a scowling face from the mirror. His smile was accompanied by a chilling twitch in his mouth, and his eyes burned with malice. “Rain night butcher.”
It’s a real brain teaser…
Finally, Kuzuki found a pair of plain glasses to cover his intense eyes, restoring his demeanor to an ordinary, reserved individual.
Kuzuki stood in the entrance of the convention center, hidden in a dimly lit corner where few would notice him. He methodically observed every detail around him.
“One, two, seven, nineteen… On the front door alone, there are nineteen security personnel, and six others disguised as guests sneaking in through back doors. The entrance is monitored by guards with firearms, and surveillance equipment covers the area where potential snipers can see the building. The security measures here are extremely thorough…” Kuzuki circled around the convention center after a while before concluding.
This event featured only the wealthy and influential socialites as guests—nobody of status was present, let alone in any capacity. Only those at the top of the social hierarchy were the main focus.
Given that, the security measures for this event must be incredibly strict. Even in less obvious places like stairwells, emergency exits, garbage cans, and hand sinks, there are guards keeping an eye on everything.
The only place without surveillance is probably the ventilation ducts.
Realizing this, Kuzuki quietly moved through the most crowded hallway. After a couple of loops around the building, he found a suitable spot in an alleyway.
He waited until no one was nearby before leaping upward with a powerful effort, reaching nearly two meters high. He hung suspended from the ceiling by his arms while gripping the ventilation duct’s exhaust pipe. With a firm pull, he forced the rusted metal cover of the exhaust pipe open.
He peered through the hole to confirm passage was clear before securing it back in place.
The ventilation duct served as an alternative plan—if his assassination attempt failed and he couldn’t escape properly, this would be his way out.
In reality, even the exits of the ventilation ducts were monitored. However, Kuzuki had created a false entrance for himself since he was escaping rather than sneaking in. Thus, even if someone was watching, it wouldn’t impede him.
Kuzuki arrived at the convention center precisely at five o’clock but waited until two hours later—nine thirty p.m.—for his target to appear on the radar.
From nine till eleven, the target was constantly visible to everyone. He had no chance to strike.
But Kuzuki was patient and waited for the perfect moment.
At ninety-three minutes past nine…
The perfect opportunity arrived when his target was speaking with someone else. A slight, unnatural expression crossed his face before disappearing. Kuzuki noticed it immediately and moved swiftly to hide in one of the bathroom stalls.
Shortly after, he heard the target’s voice approaching from a distance, accompanied by footsteps—a bodyguard.
It was time to act.
Just like after using the restroom, Kuzuki quietly opened the stall door and stepped out.
He walked six steps toward the sink before quickly assessing the situation.
The bathroom had four people: himself, the target, a pale, slim white man in a suit, and another man with crossed arms wearing a black suit. The latter had an unusual protrusion on his torso, suggesting he carried a weapon.
The bodyguard was five meters to the left of Kuzuki’s position. Another two were positioned three meters behind and across from him, while the exit was ten meters ahead in another direction.
As he reached the sink, Kuzuki had already marked their positions mentally and prepared his next move.
He first used the Five Forms Fist Leopard Pounce method to approach the bodyguard. In an instant, the bodyguard didn’t react before Kuzuki struck with a Crane Strike Method, targeting his neck and causing him to faint. Then, using the Snake Movement Method, he quickly turned around and approached the target. He executed the Poisonous Snake 99 Techniques’ Arbitrary Killing Move, finishing off the target. Before the target could scream, Kuzuki knocked him out…
So… all that remains is to act according to one’s plans.
So next… all that remains is…
