Chapter 144 Contract
The clouds were densely packed, making the afternoon as dark as night.
A man lying in muddy, dirty water was seriously injured, and a man standing nearby holding an umbrella seemed to be at the scene of a crime.
However, that was not the case. Kuzuki intended to help the injured man.
Without hesitating, Kuzuki bent down, picked up the caster on his shoulder, and walked toward Ryūdō Temple under the umbrella.
The person on his shoulder was in a bad condition. However, by making physical contact with him, Kuzuki managed to learn about every detail of his body.
His blood loss caused his temperature to drop and his life force (mana) to gradually flow out without being replenished. If he hadn’t met Kuzuki, he would have disappeared soon.
To save her, there was only one way… to give her mana supplements.
Less than a minute later, they arrived at the top of the mountain where Ryūdō Temple stood.
Entering the room, Kuzuki placed the caster on the floor and sat cross-legged. After pressing his hands against her back, he began to channel Northern Return Qi to slowly transfer internal energy into her.
Internal energy couldn’t heal injuries; it was a side effect of CultivationNorthern Darkness Divine Skill, unrelated to internal energy. Internal energy only served to stimulate vitality and guide life force.
However, what the caster lacked was life force, not injury.
Therefore, Kuzuki used a method called “transmitting power” to transfer internal energy into the man on his shoulder.
After ten years of consuming internal energy, its transformed life force was enough to completely stabilize her injuries. With one sound, the caster regained consciousness.
Sensing the abundant mana flowing through her body, the caster became confused and then realized the changes in her surroundings as well as the presence of someone behind her.
“Dong…”
The caster was startled. Her body, still recovering from injuries, collapsed forward and hit her head on the floor with a sharp sound.
Dazed, she used her hands to prop herself up against the wall. Memories of her unconscious state began to surface.
Betrayal, battle, escape, collapse, then a tall figure under an umbrella observing her with cold eyes.
Someone with that kind of eye expression would save a woman lying on the side of the road covered in blood? More likely, they’d just walk past her…
Therefore, when she was unconscious, she didn’t have even a trace of hope for rescue. She only felt regret and pity.
Another failure…
Her judgment was proven wrong once again. She…… was saved by the person she believed wouldn’t help her.
But why did her mana recover so much? It had been completely consumed, leaving only a tiny bit behind. Why was it now replenished to this extent?
Was it because of the man standing before her who had remained silent since she woke up?
“Can we talk?”
Kuzuki stood up to the wall, took off the pot from the stove, and poured a cup of hot tea. She pushed the teacup in front of her.
“Thank you…”
“No need to thank me, Medea (Caster).”
Caster was suddenly surprised and stood up from the ground. She spread her wings like a fan with the cloak thrown over her shoulders, erecting a magical crest on the cloak. A red Magic Circle pattern appeared in the air, targeting Kuzuki.
“Are you a Magus participating in the Holy Grail War? How do you know my name?”
Heroic Spirit is an existence formed from the Hero’s achievements after death, becoming an object of faith.
Servant is a Heroic Spirit clone or duplicate summoned from Heroic Spirit’s seat, copying the Hero’s personality and Strength.
The Holy Grail War was started by seven Masters summoning Servants. The decisive battles were between Servants, surpassing humans and Magi.
Servants summoned from Heroic Spirit have seven ranks as nicknames to hide their true names, a necessary preparation for victory.
Legends include not only the Heroic Spirit’s achievements but also its weaknesses and death. Knowing the true name would make it targeted, so Servants try to avoid revealing their names.
“No, I’m not a Magus. I know your name because I naturally knew you.”
“What does that mean?”
“Can we sit down and talk before I answer? This state will drain Mana quickly.”
The person in front of her saved her and hasn’t shown any hostility so far. Caster fell silent for a moment, then withdrew the Magic Crest she had erected and sat down on her knees.
Kuzuki said: “Shouldn’t I introduce myself first?”
“You already know that.”
“No, I only know who you are. I don’t know what kind of person you are.”
“Knowing my true name and saying you don’t know what kind of person I am is either ignorance or an attempt to deceive and betray a Witch?”
Kuzuki paused, then said seriously: “Legends are just legends. They can have exaggerated parts. Without talking to me in person, relying on legends to make judgments is foolish.”
“Legends might be false. Wouldn’t the person I’m talking to not lie?”
“That depends on both sides. Everyone has their own judgment standards. I believe my ability to discern lies.”
Caster didn’t argue and fell silent for a moment before she pulled off her purple hood, revealing her true appearance.
Her long blue hair and eyes, with bangs on the left side, were deep and clear, like water. Her fair skin, expressive eyes, refined features, and cherry lips below a high nose made her look like an elf from a fairy realm, possessing supernatural charm beyond mortal bounds.
Medea (Caster) staring at Kuzuki, calmly says: “As you can see, I am Medea (Caster), here to seek the Holy Grail. Before achieving my wish, anyone standing in my way is an enemy.”
…
“Then, what’s your reason?”
…
No response from the other side.
Medea (Caster) tilts her head, avoiding Kuzuki’s line of sight, and asks again: “I already explained it. What’s your reason?”
Kuzuki withdraws his divine spirit, saying: “Not only do I know your identity, but I also know the identities of every Servant participating in the Holy Grail War.”
“Future vision…”
“It can be said that way, but the true reason isn’t clear yet. If it catches the attention of the Suppression Force, future actions will become very difficult.”
“Actions?”
“You need something, right? After all, you seem determined to keep the Holy Grail. So naturally, seeking a Master and signing a contract is only logical…”
Medea (Caster) with cherry lips slightly opens her mouth in surprise: “You… aren’t a Magus, are you? Why would you participate in the Holy Grail War? Why help me?”
“Of course, I have my own reasons. What’s your reason?”
Medea (Caster) extends her arm adorned with purple gloves and says: “Then, this contract is established.”
A Master and Servant signing a contract usually requires preparation, rituals, and incantations.
However, since Medea (Caster) is now in a permanent state, it’s unnecessary to go through all that trouble. Just completing mana linkage is enough.
Kuzuki possesses internal energy, fighting spirit, and mana that isn’t unique to the Tsukihime universe.
If he wants to possess mana, he first needs to transform internal energy into life force and then use a magic circuit to transform life force into mana.
Unfortunately, Kuzuki doesn’t have a magic circuit. The only part of his martial arts that aligns with the Tsukihime universe’s system has already been enhanced in the realm and split into branches.
Therefore, without mana, Kuzuki would need to use blood… which is a sound strategy for exchanging fluids.
Blood contains a large amount of life force. By exchanging fluids, one can quickly supplement mana or sign a contract.
So……
Kuzuki and Medea (Caster) each pierce their own fingers and place them in the other’s mouth to suck.
