Chapter 149 Contract and Suggestion
Behind the Ryūdō Temple, on the edge of a misty lake.
A Monster wearing a black-purple checkered cloak with only half of its face exposed stands beside a large pot that is over half a person tall. The pot gurgles with bubbles, and an individual’s body floats within it.
If outsiders were to see this scene, they would likely suspect it was the site of a Monster killing someone before boiling their corpse to cover its tracks.
Medea (Caster) raises her hand and countless light points appear in it, quickly condensing into a scepter known as Hecate’s Sceptre.
The scepter granted by the goddess Hecate, which enhances Magecraft power and reduces its ability consumption, is on par with Noble Phantasm-level Magecraft equipment.
Medea (Caster) swings Hecate’s Sceptre, causing the Vessel of Youth’s Bazett Body to gradually dissolve and reassemble.
A perfectly intact, nude body soon appears.
She went to great lengths to save Bazett by using the Reassemble Body method, not because it was the most reliable way, but for her own plans.
Medea (Caster) places Bazett’s body on a magic circle that has appeared in midair and chants a phrase that even human vocal organs cannot reproduce. The magic circle suddenly lights up, and countless incantations crawl over Bazett’s body like ants.
The body of Black Incantation looks unusually terrifying, but the incantations soon begin to fade away.
Bazett’s eyelashes tremble for a moment before she wakes up from her unconscious state.
In an instant after regaining consciousness, she immediately wants to activate her Magecraft Equipment, the “Reverse Light Sword,” to defend herself. However, with her body stripped bare, this attempt will naturally yield no results.
“Who are you? That bastard Kotomine Kirei?” Bazett covers her hidden parts of the body and looks slightly shy.
Medea (Caster) smiles twice and approaches to lift her head.
“Your life is mine to save. From now on, you belong to me. I’ll use you as I please.”
As Medea (Caster)’s fingers wander over her body, Bazett cannot move at all during this time.
After a few touches, she realizes that Kuzuki is still better than the other option, so Medea (Caster) stops her unwanted advances.
“What did you do to me?”
Bazett clearly feels something is wrong. While being saved is a good thing, this method of salvation isn’t what she wanted at all.
“I just… did that.”
Black incantations appear on Bazett’s body once more, strengthening the Contract’s effects and even restricting her ability to think freely.
After a small pause, Medea (Caster) dismisses the incantations. However, Bazett knows they still exist—she will turn into a puppet as soon as someone has the idea.
“This isn’t just about Mana. I hope you’ll help me with Kotomine Kirei.”
“You’re a caster? You don’t need to tell me; I’d take action against Kotomine Kirei myself. Using my moment of weakness to steal the Lancer from me is unforgivable!” Bazett seems angrier about the Lancer being stolen than she was about nearly being killed, with her silver hair tightly bunched between her teeth.
“This is your clothes, during this period, you are not allowed to leave the range of Ryudou Temple, nor can you appear in front of others. I have a use for it, and you can only come out when needed.”
After giving Bazett a piece of clothing, Medea (Caster) retrieves the Vessel of Youth and transforms into numerous cherry blossom-like light points that disappear into the air.
After putting on her clothes, Bazett Calm looks around at her surroundings and bites her lip before walking out.
Despite Bazett believing her chances of survival were practically zero, she never imagined she would be saved by a Servant from the Holy Grail War. She was even cursed with a spell by them, leaving her no choice but to obey their commands.
However, she managed to survive and still has the opportunity for revenge against Kotomine Kirei.
“I suppose it’s only fitting that such a hero would leave a name for themselves… even something like damage to the Magic Circuit could be perfectly repaired. It must have been a well-known Heroic Spirit.”
“But honestly, I don’t recognize any hero with this style of behavior. Who do they think they are?”
Bazett furrows her brow in thought, completely unaware that the Holy Grail War has taken an unusual turn—both Sasaki Kojirou (Assassin), a nonexistent Heroic Spirit fantasy, and Medusa (Rider), Medea (Caster) have appeared. The latter two are technically Servants of the opposing side.
She walks toward the other side of the lake to create her Magecraft Equipment.
If it weren’t for Kotomine Kirei having once been her comrade and having stolen her trust, this sneak attack would never have worked. Even if she had taken it seriously, creating Magecraft Equipment would have led to a battle of attrition between Bazett and Kotomine Kirei. She wouldn’t lose to him even with just Body Technique.
On the other side, Ryuudou Issei sneaks out of the temple building in a daze.
“An illusion? I heard laughter earlier…”
Pushing his glasses up, Ryuudou Issei shrugs and walks to the lake’s edge.
He notices some traces of movement.
“This is… a footprint, and it belongs to two different people. So I didn’t misunderstand—there were definitely two individuals here, and one of them spoke in a way that I could hear.”
The Back Mountain of Ryudou Temple is rarely visited by outsiders, so it’s unlikely that a tourist stumbled upon the lake unintentionally. This late at night, it must be someone from within the temple.
“Could it be her?”
Shizuru.
A movement in the bushes near the lakeshore catches Ryuudou Issei’s attention. His eyes narrow, and his Body tens like a predator on the hunt.
“Snapping!”
He springs to life, leaping nearly ten meters forward in a tiger-like pounce, crashing into the tree line. With both hands raised, he splits the dense underbrush into two sides like a heavy object pressing down.
A strange creature, resembling an old mouse, glares at him with red eyes.
This creature is completely black, like ink, and its Body Type resembles that of a house cat. It lacks the long tail of a typical mouse but doesn’t seem to fear Ryuudou Issei after being discovered by him. It just awkwardly stares at him.
“What the hell is that?”
Issei Ryuudou was surprised to discover that he had never seen or heard of such a creature before. He instinctively thrust his hand forward, moving with the agility and speed of a monkey retrieving acorns from a fire.
He grabbed it, and the strange creature didn’t react at all. He then pinched its neck between his thumb and index finger, lifting it up like a tiger’s claw.
Holding the strange creature in front of him, Issei Ryuudou looked into its glowing red eyes, which gave him an eerie illusion of a person staring back at him. It wasn’t just a simple beast without intelligence; it seemed to possess advanced human-like intelligence.
“This is such a strange creature. Its touch feels like that of a mineral, and I can’t sense any temperature.”
Issei Ryuudou frowned as he looked at the creature in his hand, wondering how to deal with it.
Just then, the strange creature suddenly melted like an ice block under intense sunlight, startling Issei Ryuudou.
“Oh my goodness! You’ve discovered the Servant hidden here.”
A familiar voice echoed from mid-air. It was Medea (Caster).
Issei Ryuudou’s heart sank as he turned around, and his pupils contracted when he saw Medea (Caster’s) appearance.
She wasn’t floating in the air without any support—this must be true magic!
“Souichirou-sensei doesn’t allow me to interfere with your life, but I can’t let you see this either. How should I handle this?”
Souichirou? Related to Teacher Kuzuki? This tone…isn’t what I imagined. It’s actually an enemy of Teacher Kuzuki.
Issei Ryuudou coughed lightly and said, “I can pretend not to have seen anything.”
Medea (Caster) smirked and said, “A promise is no guarantee. I only believe in myself… and Souichirou.” (She didn’t finish the second part.)
Slap!
Medea (Caster) snapped her fingers, and Issei Ryuudou, who had no mana against her, was instantly captured by Magecraft.
[Suggestion: Forget about tonight. And if someone asks you about Kuzuki Souichirou, kill the person who asks.]
After giving the suggestion, Medea (Caster) wrapped herself in her cloak and disappeared into thin air.
A short while later, Issei Ryuudou snapped out of his daze.
“How did I end up here?” He looked around at the surroundings, then walked toward the temple without noticing that he had been affected by the suggestion.
