Chapter 150 A Day in Tohsaka
It was an ordinary morning.
But for Rin Tohsaka, it wasn’t.
The family clock had malfunctioned, moving forward by an hour. She woke up an hour earlier than usual.
When she arrived at school, the grounds were eerily quiet with no one in sight.
Correction.
A familiar figure was crouching by a vending machine near the school gate, picking up something.
“Wow, Rin. You’re here so early?” Ayako Mitsuzuri was surprised and waved a drink bottle at her.
“Hmm… Since finding the necklace, all the clocks in the house have gone haywire. Could it be a trap from your father?”
“Rin?”
Ayako Mitsuzuri leaned in close, and Rin steered the conversation away: “Ayako, are you going to practice this morning too?”
“Yes. The martial arts expert in our club has left, so I want to make sure more new students join.”
Ayako Mitsuzuri sighed but quickly regained her composure: “Want to take a look at something?”
Rin usually stayed home this time of day. By the time she arrived at school, there was nothing left for her to do, so she agreed.
The two walked toward the Archery Club, chatting casually. They didn’t realize how much time had passed.
In the Archery Club’s guest room, Ayako Mitsuzuri poured a cup of tea for Rin.
“So, I’ll ask directly: How is your side doing? Have you found someone?”
“You’re direct. So, does that mean you’ve already found someone?”
“No comment until Rin tells me herself. On my end, we’ll keep it under wraps too. Look at your face; I bet you have a lead.”
Rin sighed. Why was she discussing this so early in the morning?
Two months ago, they had bet on who would find a boyfriend first for a trivial reason……
But now it seems like neither of them has made any progress.
Ayako Mitsuzuri dressed in her archery outfit walked into the archery field, while Tohsaka Rin stood outside watching.
Hey……
The sound of Gate of Opening echoed from the gate, signaling the arrival of someone Tohsaka Rin was particularly interested in: Matou Sakura.
Despite her interest, Tohsaka Rin didn’t show any emotion or expression on her face.
After calling out to Ayako Mitsuzuri with A Sound, Tohsaka Rin turned and left.
Passing by Matou Sakura, she slightly bowed, showing the perfect demeanor of a successor: “Tohsaka-senpai, you’ve worked hard.”
Still using that title…
Tohsaka Rin sighed inwardly and said calmly, “Thank you, Sakura-chan. You should also do your best.”
Dismissing the useless emotions, Tohsaka Rin left the Archery Club.
In the lobby on the first floor, in front of the shoe lockers, a voice and a person appear who neither want to be heard nor seen.
“Hey……Tohsaka, good morning. It’s really convenient that I ran into you this early.”
Snort.
Tohsaka Rin turned around and quickly changed her expression from impatient to a dismissive smile.
“Good morning, Matou Shinji-senpai. You came very early.”
Matou Shinji still kept his usual demeanor, neatly arranging his blue seaweed hair and confidently declaring, “Of course I did! I’m the captain of the Archery Club~”
Despite being a vice-president, he was still flattering himself by calling himself the captain.
Tohsaka Rin rolled her eyes inwardly but maintained her elegant大小姐 demeanor as she said, “Well, there’s nothing much to do here. I’ll leave.”
Matou Shinji faced with Tohsaka Rin, his mind clearly wasn’t handed over to the upper body. He rejected Tohsaka Rin’s refusal indifferently and still bothered her.
After a while, Tohsaka Rin couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Hey, can you stay away from me? Matou-san.”
“Hm?”
“Let me tell you this: I don’t have any interest in you. Please stop bothering me. From now on, I don’t want to see you anymore.”
Of course, those words felt great after saying them.
Tohsaka Rin ignored the angry Matou Shinji and left without looking back.
After greeting Fujimura TaigaTeacher, who was jumping down the stairs at the corner of the building, Tohsaka Rin saw a familiar face at the door of the Second floor Student Council meeting room.
Ryuudou Issei, someone she’s known since high school and has owed her many favors, approached her with a smile.
Smiling, Tohsaka Rin greeted Ryuudou Issei. His reaction made her very satisfied, so she decided to toy with him every time they met.
Then, someone came out of the meeting room.
A familiar red head, who had a reputation rivaling hers at the Academy……Emiya Shirou.
Even though she knew him, there was no connection between them. After exchanging a couple of lines with Ryuudou Issei, Tohsaka Rin turned and left.
When she brushed past Emiya Shirou, he seemed to greet her. However, the casual tone made it unclear who exactly was greeting whom.
Was that a greeting directed at me?
Tohsaka Rin pondered for a moment before forgetting about it.
After that, life returned to its usual mundane state. The morning hours quickly passed with classes.
In the afternoon, after refusing Makidera Kaede and Himuro Kane’s invitation to eat together along with Saegusa Yukika, Tohsaka Rin went up to the rooftop alone.
Sitting on the stairs behind a protective net, she took out a gemstone pendant from her chest and held a red gemstone in her hand. She quietly pondered about the Holy Grail War.
There were still two spots left for participation. Tomorrow would be the last day to apply.
This time’s Holy Grail War, Tohsaka Rin wants to Summon the strongest Job Class Servant……saber, but how can she Summon it? Currently, she still has no idea.
In the afternoon, Director Kuzuki Souichirou announced school dismissal as usual.
“Then, the teacher’s time is over. The students should check the classroom logs and lock the doors. Students with no clubs should go home.”
After leaving his usual lines, Kuzuki Souichirou left.
As far as Tohsaka Rin knows, this sentence hasn’t changed from a year ago to now.
Leaving the school grounds, Tohsaka Rin begins switching to MagusTohsaka Rin as a student.
At night, it’s her time as a Magus.
Returning home, she is greeted by an answering machine.
Pressing the button, the familiar annoying voice plays: “It’s me. Although I think you understand, but tomorrow is the last day. Rin.Master has two seats left. If you don’t become a master soon, you won’t qualify to participate in the Holy Grail War anymore. If you want to give up your qualification, contact me quickly.
The Command Spell’s signs have already appeared on you. It’s best to SummonServant soon. However, if you don’t plan to participate, then it’s another matter. To save your life, come teach soon……”
Bleep.
Tohsaka Rin stopped the recording playback with her finger on the button.
“This kind of thing doesn’t need you to say. I already know……”
Up to now, it’s just to open the inheritance left by her father. Tohsaka Rin discovered a red pendant in the underground room yesterday, which is considered the highest level of Ancient Relics.
But that’s only as a Magecraft item. It can’t help with SummoningServant.
“It’s just hard to do it. As long as you’re prepared in the state of ‘万全’, you should be able to Summonsaber.”
Tohsaka Rin’s idea is good, but she made a mistake. To Summon the corresponding Servant, not only do you need the corresponding Holy Relic, but even the Incantation spell needs to be changed. However, she seems completely unaware of this and is optimistically preparing.
Deep at night.
The clock points to 2 AM.
This is the most lively and energetic time for her Mana. Summoning at this exact moment will definitely yield the desired results…… Rin Tohsaka must be thinking so.
The Magic Circle in the underground chamber has been completed, drawn with dissolving jewels throughout its body, serving as a medium even more refined than blood and nearly exhausting all her accumulated wealth.
This war cannot be allowed to fail. Such a sacrifice is necessary.
“The contract between silver, iron, and bedrock……”
The winds of chaos block the walls and close the gates.
Release it from the crown and wander around the crossroads leading to the kingdom.
Fill it up. Fill it up. Fill it up. Fill it up. Fill it up. Fill it up.
Doing this five times, then…… when it’s full, that’s when you abandon it.
……Anfang.”
A certain invisible switch inside her body was activated, like nerves being flipped and replaced. Mana began to flow through the Magic Circuit.
Mana from the atmosphere flowed into her body along her fingertips and quickly filled Rin Tohsaka, who was supposed to be a human.
Mana passed through the Magic Circuit, causing sharp pains and discomfort to grow stronger. Strength filled every part of her body.
She absorbed mana from the atmosphere and transformed it into “fixed” mana using the Magic Circuit before injecting it into the Magic Circle.
That’s what a Magus is…… just a conduit, really.
“Declaration……”
Your body is entrusted to me, and my fate is in your sword.”
If you follow the call of the Holy Grail, respond to this will and reason with me!”
The underground chamber began to swell with fierce winds, which were the mana from the atmosphere surging in response to the Magic Circle’s request.
“I swear……”
I am the person who has achieved every good deed in the world.
You are the ultimate evil person.
You have been bound by the Three Great Words for seven days,
from the Wheel of Restraint, Guardian of the Balance, ah………!”
Hmph!
Before the Magic Circle explodes with endless light, the vision closed first.
A few seconds later, Tohsaka Rin opened her eyes and looked at the Magic Circle.
“This feeling… Summon’s ServantAbsolute is the strongest……hmm?”
Tohsaka Rin stared in surprise at the empty Magic Circle, letting out a surprised cry.
Hmph!
An explosion sound echoed from upstairs, and Tohsaka Rin’s face turned pale quickly.
“No way……”
She burst out of the underground room without a trace of a ladylike demeanor and ran to the second floor.
After pushing open the door, she found herself standing before a chaotic scene of debris. Among the ruins, there was a man in red clothes with silver hair, sitting on a bed that had been torn apart, lazily looking at her with one eye open and the other closed.
She completely messed it up.
As the perfect eldest lady, her only flaw is that she acts foolishly at critical moments.
Why did she forget that today’s clock was fast by an hour at such an important moment?
She sighed helplessly and asked, “So, what kind of person are you?”
The red-clothed man looked at Tohsaka Rin’s face and his expression grew serious.
He stood up, looking around before stopping on Tohsaka Rin’s face.
“Before you answer, could you tell me one thing? Do you know about the Witch who betrayed?”
“Huh? Why would the question take that turn…?”
The red-clothed man frowned and asked, “What’s the answer?”
Sigh.
Tohsaka Rin scoffed and said, “Of course I know! I’ve studied Greek mythology extensively. How could I not know Medea (Caster)?”
The red-clothed man looked even more troubled as he muttered, “So it’s this World Line… It’s really a shame. If you encounter him, should you resist or not? There are still unused World Lines, is that the original World Line…?”
“Hey, what are you mumbling about? I already answered your question. Now it’s your turn.”
“Looks like a true Master! Hah-hah-hah, lucky me indeed…”
