    Chapter 164 Something feels off…

Fuyuki City remained as peaceful as ever.

The series of battles that had occurred earlier had taken place within the Inherent Barrier, causing minimal impact on the real world.

It had only been the second night since the Holy Grail War officially began, and yet seven Servants had already gathered, with three Servants defeated and one missing. Only Berserker, Caster, Rider, and Assassin remained, with the latter three being from the same camp.

The night sky was filled with twinkling stars.

A thin mist rose from the mountain forest at dawn, casting a dim and hazy glow over the streetlights.

Kuzuki had become extremely weak due to the consecutive battles, exhausting his Fighting Spirit and True Qi, leaving him with only a trickle of energy, and his physical body was fatigued and sore from overexerting his strength.

However, Kuzuki didn’t mind, as the enemy wasn’t likely to appear, and the environment was safe. With some time, his recovery abilities would allow him to regain his strength quickly.

Medea (Caster) and Medusa (Rider) gazed at him with unusual expressions… Medusa (Rider), although wearing an eyepatch, had her eyes fixed on Kuzuki, and he could sense her line of sight.

“If we kill the remaining Berserker and possibly Saber, the Holy Grail will be ours for the taking,” Kuzuki said in his usual calm tone.

But his words weren’t what the two women wanted to hear. Both Medea (Caster) and Medusa (Rider) were tempted to grab Kuzuki’s shoulders and shake him, asking in a furious tone: “Why are you so strong? Are you even human? Are you an alien in disguise? Why are you so calm? Don’t you know it’s painful for us to hold back our frustration?”

Fortunately, they were both ladies and wouldn’t do anything unbecoming.

Medea (Caster) covered her heart, composed herself, and said, “Indeed, Master, considering our camp’s strength, the enemy has no chance of winning.”

“We can’t let our guard down until the very end; Emiya Shirou and Tohsaka Rin are not to be underestimated.”

Medusa (Rider) couldn’t help but glance at Kuzuki, thinking that someone with his strength should be more confident, not so cautious.

The surroundings were eerily quiet, without even the sounds of birds chirping or insects buzzing.

Kuzuki glanced at the Fuyuki Church, which stood like a giant monster in the darkness, silently lurking in the mountains.

Earlier, he had used his Spiritual Awareness to scan the surroundings and sensed many faint, weak life forces in the church’s underground, like the dying embers of a flame.

Kuzuki approached the church, pushed open the door, and searched for a passageway leading underground.

Medea (Caster) and Medusa (Rider) followed him, curious about what he planned to do.

The ominous atmosphere and dark passageway seemed to swallow all life, with an unsettling chill in the air.

    Kuzuki descended into the passageway.

The underground room was vast and empty.

The space was large, but there were few objects, making it feel empty. However, the air was thick with resentment and death, making it feel crowded.

Row upon row of beds, like coffins, held beings that couldn’t be called human, their limbs withered, skin gray and bloodless, with tubes and breathing apparatuses attached to their bodies.

As they saw Kuzuki, tears welled up in their eyes, and they lacked the strength to speak, only able to convey their plea with their gaze: “Kill us.”

Kotomine Kirei was dead, and no one was left to explain, but it wasn’t hard to understand what had happened.

Like the humans in the Matrix, used as batteries, these people were also treated as tools to extract life force, used by Gilgamesh to sustain himself in the world.

Kuzuki’s expression remained calm as he delivered a swift palm strike, smashing the support pillar of the underground room.

Before the rubble fell, he exited the room.

    A loud “CRASH” echoed…

After the dust settled, the underground room was reduced to rubble, burying the evil and injustice beneath the earth.

    ………………..

The group walked in silence, returning to the Ryūdō Temple.

They climbed the mountain path, reaching the top, where the temple gate stood empty.

    The surroundings were quiet…

A cold wind blew, casting a hazy gloom over the temple.

The moonlight shone brightly, illuminating the temple’s interior, devoid of any lanterns.

“Assassin?” Medea (Caster) looked puzzled, unable to sense Sasaki Kojirou (Assassin)’s presence.

Kuzuki sniffed the air, frowning, “There’s a bloody smell; someone’s been here.”

Sasaki Kojirou (Assassin) was indeed gone, or rather, had disappeared.

His anchor was the Ryūdō Temple gate, and although Medea (Caster) was his Master, she couldn’t sense his situation, so she had no idea what had happened to him or why he had disappeared.

    “A new enemy, perhaps…”

Kuzuki denied the idea, “No, it’s Matou Zouken; he’s summoned the true Assassin. Sasaki Kojirou (Assassin) is dead.”

As one of the founders of the Holy Grail War, Matou Zouken’s understanding of the system was unparalleled. If Medea (Caster) could exploit a loophole to summon a non-existent Heroic Spirit, then Matou Zouken could also fill that gap and summon the true Assassin.

You’re still not dead… How annoying. You’ve come to me instead of me finding you…

“You’re so useless, dying so easily. Rider, you’ll have to take over guarding the gate.” Medea (Caster) could be quite venomous, treating Assassin like a mere tool.

With Sasaki Kojirou (Assassin) gone, the gate was left unguarded, so Rider would have to take on the extra responsibility.

However, Medea (Caster) soon realized that she had forgotten something, but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

Kuzuki didn’t question Medea (Caster)’s decision and led the way into the temple.

Medea (Caster) followed Kuzuki, her eyebrows furrowed in concern, feeling like she had forgotten something important.

“Hmm, it’s probably not that important… Never mind.” Medea (Caster) pushed her doubts aside and followed Kuzuki back to their room. She removed her purple cloak, changed into casual clothes, and began preparing tea.

Kuzuki sat on the tatami, deep in thought, planning their next move.

Find Matou Zouken and kill him; then go to the Einzbern castle, defeat Berserker, and claim the Holy Grail.

After thinking it through twice, confirming there were no flaws, Kuzuki relaxed slightly.

Assassin’s death was both important and unimportant. He couldn’t leave the Ryūdō Temple, and his combat strength was negligible, only useful for defense. However, his death meant the true Assassin had appeared, a stealthy Assassin hiding in the shadows, which was a potentially deadly threat.

Assassin’s strength was no match for Kuzuki, but in terms of sneak attacks, both Medea (Caster) and Medusa (Rider) had a chance of being killed, and Kuzuki couldn’t always protect them.

So, they had to find and eliminate the hidden Assassin first.

After drinking the tea Medea (Caster) had prepared, Kuzuki took a bath and lay down to sleep. Some time passed, and the bathroom door creaked open. A figure tiptoed in, climbed into bed beside Kuzuki, and snuggled under the covers.

The two slept in close proximity, their breathing audible to each other. As Medea (Caster) settled in, a subtle, alluring scent wafted into Kuzuki’s nostrils, pleasant and intoxicating.

Medea (Caster) wore only a thin nightgown, and the blanket was thin as well, but her body still radiated warmth.

So much had happened that day, and Souichirou’s strength was astonishing. Although he had mentioned his strength before, Medea (Caster) had thought he was boasting, but now she realized he was genuinely powerful.

The image of Kuzuki’s formidable figure still lingered in her mind, and now his body lay within arm’s reach, his warm breathing palpable.

Her mind grew cloudy, her thoughts sluggish.

    It was so hot…

Medea (Caster) buried her face in the blanket, covering her head.

No need to look to know her cheeks were redder than blood, Medea (Caster) gritted her teeth, trying to shake off the perverted thoughts that flashed through her mind with a soft “Tch”.

To be honest, Medea (Caster) had the potential to be a wicked woman from the start, but deep down, she was like a lovestruck girl, willing to give her all to the one she fell for. And at times, she couldn’t control her emotions, her mood would sour, and she’d get lost in her thoughts with a faint “Hmmm”.

Now, she was worried about how to present herself in front of Kuzuki, her mind racing with a soft “Whoosh”.

Did Souichirou-sama like Medusa (Rider)’s elegant and sensual big sister type, or Tohsaka Rin’s refined and cute young lady type, or Matou Sakura’s gentle and charming childhood friend type, or perhaps Bazett’s mature and elegant career woman type… The thoughts swirled in her head with a gentle “Whir”.

    Huh?

“Bazett……” Medea (Caster) threw off her covers and sat up abruptly with a loud “Thud”.

She finally remembered, where was Bazett!? The question echoed in her mind with a soft “Echo”.
