Chapter 190 Unobservable Field
Fujimaru Ritsuka is very much like an individual, Emiya Shirou.
Same orange hair and orange eyes, just different genders.
Appearing as a vibrant girl with a side ponytail, she wears a white uniform on top, and a black short skirt with stockings on the bottom.
“If I remember correctly, we should be in Chaldea, right, Mash? Your outfit…”
Mash still maintains a bit of alertness towards Kuzuki, responding briefly: “I am currently a Pseudo-Servant.”
Fujimaru Ritsuka has just arrived at Chaldea and doesn’t know some common knowledge, but she still has a bit of understanding about the concept of Servants.
“So, what is the current situation…?”
“This should be Fuyuki City in 2004, Singularity F? But it seems like it’s not…” Mash said uncertainly, a bit confused herself.
The two turned their line of sight towards Kuzuki, their gazes inquiring.
And Kuzuki, from earlier, had an intuition that this girl named Mash looked somewhat familiar, as if he had seen her in some place.
It must have been a long, long time ago, and the memory was already hazy.
“Kuzuki-kun… Kuzuki-kun?”
Fujimaru Ritsuka called out several times before Kuzuki snapped back to reality.
“Do you know what happened?” he asked with a somewhat certain tone.
Being attacked by a rampaging Kuzuki as soon as he arrived in this world, anyone would think the current situation is related to Kuzuki, especially since the destruction of Fuyuki City was indeed caused by him.
Kuzuki stared intently at Mash, trying to recall something, while answering: “There was a small accident, but the situation is still under my control.”
Mash and Fujimaru Ritsuka exchanged glances, then looked at the surroundings that resembled an apocalypse, giving a sheepish smile without saying a word.
Suddenly, Kuzuki had a flash of inspiration, abruptly remembering where he had seen Mash’s figure.
It was a poster; due to the difference between the two-dimensional art style and 3-dimensional reality, he couldn’t recall it at first.
The poster was for a game, and its content was also related to Fate, meaning it was another work from the Type-Moon Universe.
However, Kuzuki had only seen the poster; at that time, the game had not yet been released in his country, and he was unaware of its content.
Kuzuki simply inquired about the reason for the two and the beast’s appearance, but the other party seemed unclear as well.
“Tell me about your world.”
Mash, who grew up in Chaldea from a young age, had never been outside and didn’t know the world beyond, while Fujimaru Ritsuka was from the outside world and had only recently arrived at Chaldea.
Through their mutual supplementation, Kuzuki gained a general understanding of the other party’s world, much like how a Master and Servant would work together to achieve a common goal, as seen in the Holy Grail War.
The world Fujimaru Ritsuka came from was similar to this one, but the time period was different – it was 2016, not 2004, and they were from 12 years in the future, a concept reminiscent of the time loops in the Moon Cell’s universe.
The full name of Chaldea was: Chaldea: Human Resource Preservation Organization, also known as the Chaldea Organization or simply Chaldea, a name that echoed the grandeur of the Clock Tower, the headquarters of the Mage’s Association.
Its purpose was to ensure the long and robust continuation of human history, combining Magecraft and science, gathering researchers from various fields, and observing the world, much like the Argonauts observing the Will of the Gods, a concept familiar to those who have delved into the world of Fate.
Previously, Chaldea’s observation device had detected a major crisis threatening human extinction, and according to the results, humans would become extinct in December 2016, a fate that seemed as inevitable as the downfall of the Umbra Collective.
During the observation, a Space-Time Singularity appeared, a phenomenon that would have intrigued even the great minds of the Assembly of Eight, who had mastered the arcane arts.
In 2004, in a city in Japan, an [Unobservable Field] was discovered, which had not appeared in history before, and Chaldea hypothesized that it was the cause of human extinction, proposing the Spiritron Transfer Experiment, a technology that could transport people to other time periods, much like the time-traveling abilities of the Chrono Warriors.
Using this method, they would be sent to the past, investigate the reason for the future’s disappearance, and destroy it, a plan that seemed as bold as the endeavors of the heroes who had braved the depths of the Dungeon in Orario.
After listening to the two explanations, Kuzuki gained a general understanding of the situation, much like a skilled adventurer deciphering the mysteries of the labyrinth.
It turned out that the other party was from the future, and an even more distant future, where humans had become extinct, and they had returned to Kuzuki’s present, which was their past, to investigate the reason for the disappearance in the more distant future and avoid the future of extinction, a quest that seemed as perilous as the battles against the two7 Devils of the Far East.
“You’re on the wrong path,” Kuzuki said calmly, his words as serene as the stillness of the night, a tranquility that belied the turmoil that was to come, much like the calm before the storm that would soon engulf the world of Remnant.
“Huh?” Fujimaru Ritsuka let out a surprised cry. “Isn’t this Fuyuki City in 2004?”
Mash seemed to want to say something, but perhaps thinking her idea was incorrect, she remained silent.
“This is indeed Fuyuki City in 2004, but it’s not the ‘2004 Fuyuki City’ you were headed to.”
Fujimaru Ritsuka looked completely bewildered, clearly not understanding.
“Parallel Universe, have you heard of it?”
Mash’s eyes lit up, and she raised her hand, saying, “I know, it refers to 2 similar yet different universes, with other universes existing outside of our own.”
For some reason, this pink short-haired girl named Mash seemed a bit… airheaded.
Kuzuki nodded, noticing Fujimaru Ritsuka still didn’t seem to understand.
His teacher instincts kicked in, and he casually found a steel rod, broke it, and began to teach her.
Drawing 2 parallel lines on the ground, Kuzuki pointed to one line, saying, “This is my universe.”
Pointing to the other line, he said, “This is your universe; the two universes are similar.”
He then drew a point on the second line, saying, “This is 2016,” and drew another point above it, along with a slanted line: “This is 2004, the point in time you were supposed to return to, but didn’t…”
The steel rod, now a makeshift teaching tool, moved to the first line, and at the point corresponding to 2004 on the parallel line, he drew another point and a slanted line: “…instead, you arrived at this incorrect 2004.”
Fujimaru Ritsuka nodded vigorously, indicating she understood.
However, a new doubt arose: “How did you know and confirm this?”
Kuzuki discarded the steel rod, saying calmly, “My World, no one can destroy it.”
…If someone could, I’d kill them!
Fujimaru Ritsuka was stunned; what kind of reason was this?
But Kuzuki’s tone and demeanor were undoubtedly serious.
Kuzuki looked at Mash, asking, “What were you going to say earlier?”
Mash hesitated before saying, “I think Mr. Kuzuki is correct.”
“Huh? Mash, what’s the basis for your judgment?”
After some difficulty, Mash apologized, saying, “After becoming a Pseudo-Servant, I gained some knowledge; Mr. Kuzuki isn’t a Servant, is he?”
Kuzuki nodded, giving Fujimaru Ritsuka a start, recalling that fearsome figure akin to a demon god, even a Pseudo-Servant like Mash was suppressed by him, could such a person not be a Servant?
She took a step back, clutching onto the alerting FuFu, “Are all humans from Parallel Worlds this powerful?”
Kuzuki cast a glance at her, remaining silent.
Even in his Berserker State, the sensation towards this orange-haired girl hadn’t faded; her body seemed to harbor a terrifying strength, not a bit inferior to Shura Kuzuki.
But now, seeing her in the guise of a delicate girl, she probably wasn’t even aware of it herself.
“Senior, is the Communication Device still functional?” Mash, not overly surprised, steered the conversation back on track.
Fujimaru Ritsuka fiddled with it a bit, to no avail, and offered an awkward smile, “How exactly do you operate this Communication Device?”
Mash reached out, taking her wrist, and tapped a few times on the Communication Device, yet there was no reaction.
“We can’t establish contact…”
“Then… we can’t go back, can we?” Fujimaru Ritsuka sounded utterly disheartened. “I don’t want to stay in this World.”
