    Chapter 34 Observing in secret

    Life returned to normal.

As for the destruction caused by Dead Apostle’s battle, it was covered up by official records using the term “gas explosion,” with no connection to Kuzuki.

He found a new place to settle down.

After half a month, on May fifteenth, he observed Asagami Fujino as usual.

[Is it because the timing is not right or there’s no trigger? Asagami Fujino doesn’t seem to have noticed her twisted nature at all… He has investigated Asagami family and clan, but he knows very little about them. However, one thing that stands out is that Asagami Fujino was called a cursed child by villagers near her home when she was young. It’s said she possesses some special ability.]

A tall man stands outside the walls of Reien Girl’s Academy, quietly.

He doesn’t speak or move; he remains silent and stoic.

[This man has appeared three times already, not by coincidence, so is there a purpose behind his actions towards Asagami Fujino?] Kuzuki watches him intently because each of his appearances occurs near Asagami Fujino’s location; thus, he believes his motives align with his own.

He feels Kuzuki’s gaze and raises his head, showing a frown as if troubled, looking at Kuzuki before turning away.

    This man is strong.

Compared to the Dead Apostle he encountered earlier, this one is on another level.

Just standing still can instill a sense of heavy pressure from an armed standpoint; it’s not the mysterious aspect that causes it.

Seeing him makes Kuzuki’s eyes water up again.

Kuzuki is only curious about Asagami Fujino, a special individual; he doesn’t care about others unless his actions are violated.

He wipes the itching eyes and leaves Reien Girl’s Academy, strolling through the streets while watching passersby.

After some time, he walks through the crowd to a park bench where he sits.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Kuzuki enters the space of Assassination Book’s records.

“The Assassination Book hasn’t changed… It wasn’t because of the Assassination Book…” He flips through the book, furrowing his brow as if perplexed.”There must be some other factor causing this change.”

Just now, after Kuzuki’s eyes watered and felt something strange, he noticed something odd.

He can apparently gauge a person’s combat strength…

When someone approaches face-on, he can instantly discern their combat strength and devise numerous lethal strategies in mere breaths.

Through analyzing muscle movements, skeletal models, exterior physique, habits, breathing patterns, and even minor details, assessing someone’s combat skill isn’t difficult (specifically in physical arts), but it becomes challenging when needing to achieve this quickly.

Kuzuki couldn’t do this before; he needed prolonged observation to estimate a person’s approximate strength.

Now, he can gauge combat strength with just a glance (only in physical arts).

[The appearance of an ability from the Assassination Book doesn’t explain it; it might be related to my own state.] I’m determined to figure out its cause. (Firstly, when his eyes started itching, that was just after returning from Su Beggar world, so possibly due to the world itself.)

What is the Tsukiworld (Tsukihime Universe)?

“Magecraft”, “true magic”, “Heroic Spirit”, “Dead Apostle”, “Magic Crest” “Mana” etc. can be named endlessly.

However, the most unique aspect is at the “world” level.

    Whirlpool of the Root.

Everything’s origin, all cause and effect.

If such a special change occurs in Type Tsukiworld (Tsukihime Universe), the root cause must be linked to “Whirlpool of the Root”; otherwise, it won’t make sense.

Knowing this doesn’t help much; I still don’t know the exact reason.

The side effects haven’t caused any adverse reactions for Kuzuki; it only benefits him, so he’s not in a hurry to understand why his eyes have changed.

He stood up from the park bench and approached the water spout by the fountain pool.

His eyes looked unchanged; they still displayed their usual expression.

[The appearance of color changes in his eyes suggests it’s not Mystic Eyes…]

He carefully observed himself, receiving hints about combat strength.

Combat strength exceeding 2000 indicates potential danger (though there was no sudden alarm; just an inner sense of it).

The comics suggest that ordinary people have 5 times less power than me.

So, to assess my combat effectiveness, I compare myself with others based on attributes like strength, speed, and technique.

This method is only useful for assessing specific types of combatants, particularly those relying on physical skills.

It’s not reliable for everyone because it doesn’t account for all forms of combat.

For instance, someone might seem like they have 10 points of power according to this method, but I can kill them instantly.

Kuzuki walks over to a group of people and lowers his gaze, not looking at anyone in particular.

No one seems to be intimidated or shows signs of fear when he passes by.

[They’re scared because of something else.]

Kuzuki turns his attention to another area, scanning the room for anyone who might notice him.

The moment he looks up, people in the crowd seem to freeze and look around nervously.

[Why are they looking at me? Is it because of my eyes?]

Kuzuki turns his gaze away from anyone who might see him, trying to avoid drawing attention.

No one seems to notice or feel uneasy about him, which is surprising given his presence in the crowd.

But when he looks around again, it’s as if everyone is watching him intently.

This instinct is hard-wired into all of us; it reminds us to stay hidden and avoid danger.

Because of my eyesight, I can instantly gauge someone’s combat effectiveness, and even more so by analyzing their movements or habits.

While I don’t have the desire to attack others, I’m extremely dangerous because of my bloodlust.

Without any intention to harm, I instill fear in everyone who comes near me.

[Eyes can hide things; maybe get a pair of glasses too.] Kuzuki thinks silently and decides to do so.

He previously had contact with his sharp eyes and wore glasses once but quickly took them off. Now he needs them on more often.

In 1998, Mifune City saw few glasses shops.

Kuzuki walked several streets but couldn’t find a place to buy glasses.

He entered a quiet street where most stores were old and shabby, and there was no trace of people around.

Kuzuki’s muscles tensed, and his expression grew serious.

It’s surprising to find something every few steps.

The atmosphere felt familiar, like before the attack.

A sense of isolation and separation from the world.

The street seemed empty, as if separated from the world.

    Silence felt like death.

A feeling of being cut off from the outside world.

[Magecraft? Barrier? Are there Magus around here…]

(Hall of Temple (Aozaki Touko Workshop)).

PS: The main character has seen fate/zero, knows Type-Moon well, isn’t familiar with Rakkyo (Kara no Kyoukai abbreviated by fans), and might face a confrontation with Ryougi Shiki.
