Chapter 4 all secrets of chi-wu have been revealed.
It was supposed to be a matter of closing the eyes and opening them again, and by the second day it would have occurred. However, Kuzuki found himself in an unusual state.
He is certain he has fallen asleep, but his thoughts are still able to think clearly.
This… what’s going on?
Kuzuki suddenly stood up from his desk, overwhelmed by amazement at his own hands. He questioned himself: “Why should I be here now? Did I just cross over?”
The environment is still the familiar wooden house, filled with silence as if only Kuzuki exists in an empty world.
Kuzuki approached the door, intending to open it, but no matter how hard he pushed, the door remained firmly closed. Looking out through the window revealed darkness so profound that nothing could be seen within.
“This must be a nightmare…? Why can I think clearly now? Could it be something like lucid dreaming? However, according to my knowledge, lucid dreaming differs significantly from this state. Besides being able to think clearly.”
Thinking about the issue brought Kuzuki back to where he first appeared, at the center of the table in his room.
Realizing something was wrong, Kuzuki noticed a worn, ancient book on the table. Its pages were yellowed and covered with intricate patterns, adorned with mysterious patterns.
“This is…” Kuzuki felt strange, nearly picking up the book. He recognized it as the book he had read before while sleeping.
Kuzuki remembered clearly that he fell asleep after reading the book and then woke up to find himself in a different world.
He pondered, “I read this book before and went to sleep. After waking up, I found myself here. Could it be that this is the reason for my crossing over? Wait… When did I buy this book? Why don’t I remember anything about it.” To his surprise, Kuzuki discovered he had no memory of reading this book at all. The moment he realized what was happening, he found the book in his hand.
“Does this book have something to do with my ability for modification?…” Kuzuki frowned, unsure whether or not to read it. Based on current circumstances, reading might lead to uncontrollable events. As someone who avoids things he cannot control, Kuzuki decided to leave it alone.
After much internal conflict and weighing his options, Kuzuki decided to try the book anyway.
Given that his current state is already out of his control, adding another unknown element wouldn’t be a significant issue.
As Kuzuki made up his mind to read the book, he felt as if someone mentally guided him. The book suddenly underwent a transformation.
The title on the cover began to take shape with seven traditional Chinese characters: [Assassination Fist Ultimate Secrets Fully Transmitted].
Having prepared mentally for this unusual change, Kuzuki felt no significant emotion arising from it.
Turning the page, on the dedication flap was written: [In five thousand years, none have been killed and yet remained alive].
Kuzuki continued flipping through the book.
The first pages were blank, but as he turned further, patterns and text began to emerge on what was once blank paper.
Kuzuki is a transmission master.
Tech: 5
Spirit: 1
Mind: 3
Body: 5
Assassination techniques: [Hundred Snake Techniques (Snake Arts)]
Assassination points: 0
This is an attribute chart? What are the judgment criteria? Is it accurate? What does each attribute signify? Looking at the numerical values on the pages, Kuzuki raises many questions.
These questions were never answered. Whether meaningful or not, those words just remain quiet.
Kuzuki doesn’t believe that a person’s ability can be precisely quantified because everyone is filled with contradictions and uncertainties as a wise being; this is the inherent nature of humanity, making it impossible to quantify.
“Simply put, technique should mean techniques, skills, or technologies; spirit could refer to气 (air), qi, or energy in fantasy works; mind might be psychological concepts like 心 (mind) or consciousness; body could relate to physical attributes such as 体魄 (physical fitness).”
Kuzuki frowns deeply.
“Just providing numerical values without any reference standards means nothing at all… Wait, maybe I should be the reference standard. Suppose my ‘tech’ is 5; then by comparing it to ordinary people’s ‘tech,’ I could determine their numerical value. Isn’t that possible? Maybe I can try.”
The page remains unchanged after a few moments.
This page has these four words.
[Heritage], [Training], [Ordeal], and [Shadow Bloom].
A faint light from the words sparks an impulse to touch the book with her fingers.
Kuzuki uses his finger to gently stroke one of the words, causing all other text to fade away.
The pages flip automatically backward, revealing large sections of text.
“Five-Form Fist: From the movie [Punching Arts], a northern branch Shaolin fist technique with five forms—dragon, snake, tiger, crane, and bear. It combines both punch and kick techniques in one hand, characterized by unity of form and spirit, as well as perfect physical fitness. (Price: 90 Assassination points) Available for exchange.”
“Wing Chun: From the movie [Wing Chun], a southern branch Shaolin fist technique combining internal martial arts with close-range combat. It emphasizes blending strength and agility, offering both offense and defense, with a focus on small strikes for power. (Price: 85 Assassination points) Available for exchange.”
“Great Sage Splitting Fist: From the movie [Drunken Monkey], an ancient northern technique based on the monkey’s form and combat style, characterized by speed and agility. It focuses on quick strikes and fluid movements, blending both offensive and defensive strategies. (Price: 85 Assassination points) Available for exchange.”
······
Fist of Radiance: Originating from a novel (山公子), it’s classified as devil-mongering god-warden martial arts, ranking as the first of seventy-two techniques. According to Buddhist teachings, if one raises golden arms and curls five fingers, this technique is achieved.
Meteor Divine Fist: From another novel (Seven Deadly Demon Sword 七绝魔剑), it’s categorized under a evil faction’s poisonous god-warden martial arts. The techniques are swift and precise, capable of incapacitating someone from ten paces away. Additionally, they come with specialized gloves for enhanced effectiveness.
Shichishōken: it’s a Kongtong school’s primary secret technique. The strikes are powerful and grandiose, capable of delivering multiple forces in one motion. The movements are intricate, often accompanied by dazzling displays.
The pages are filled with various techniques, each more complex than the last, reflecting increasing difficulty.
Kuzuki turns the page but is stopped by his insufficient qualifications; further techniques aren’t displayed.
“For points within one hundred, there’s a corresponding symbol you can exchange. Points over one hundred don’t have such symbols. My Assassination points are zero… meaning I’m a newbie?…” Kuzuki examines the price tags of techniques under one hundred points.
