Chapter 54 Distortion and Direct Death
Thump-thump
On the Snowflake Screen, a female host is reading from a script.
“The underground bar that became the scene of this case was emptied six months ago. People occasionally saw the victim leave there, and their bodies were torn by unknown individuals. Meanwhile, the police are investigating how they were killed and tracking the killer’s movements.”
Thud
Kokutou Mikiya turned off the TV, gently massaging her eyebrows. “It’s already the second case of a group of young teenagers being killed… plus last month’s political figure case. How many dangerous individuals are there in this city?”
Aozaki Touko raised his chin and said: “This city does have a lot of interesting people. Regarding the second case, there is a commission that I am considering whether to accept.”
Last time, Kuzuki used barter as a transaction… Fundamental is now out of money. Aozaki Touko has always spent lavishly. If he doesn’t make money, he will have to eat dirt again next month.
Smacking his lips in dissatisfaction, Aozaki Touko took out a cigarette and began to puff.
“Well, if I don’t accept the commission, I will have no funds next month… Shiki, what do you think, do you want to make a move?”
Shiki snorted and did not answer.
Aozaki Touko continued: “The client already has a clue about who the criminal is. Your job is to catch the criminal as much as possible. If the other party resists, you must kill them without hesitation.”
“Is that so.”
“What will you do? I think this job is suitable for you.” Aozaki Touko smiled.
“Of course.” Ryougi Shiki walked out.
“You are quite impatient, Shiki. Are you really that hungry?”
Ryougi Shiki stood still. Aozaki Touko smiled with a wicked smile: “Don’t you want to know who the other person is? Come to think of it, you have met him before.”
“No need. That person is the same as me. We will kill each other the moment we meet.”
“I’ll give you a piece of advice, Shiki. If you want to complete the task, try to avoid that human named Kuzuki. In some ways, he is quite restrained towards you.”
Ryougi Shiki didn’t need to avoid anyone. She walked out without looking back.
···········
I don’t know why I did this.
Asagami Fujino is alone walking through the streets of Mifune City at night.
This year, due to the economic recession, many buildings that never got finished were built. The homeless usually hide here.
Walking through an abandoned building, Asagami Fujino felt a mix of excitement and anticipation.
What’s on your mind? Any particular reason to be excited?
Since the last time she killed someone, her inner self felt like some parts were gone. No, it’s not that they’re gone; it’s more like they’re filled with something else. The feeling of life dissolving was present.
As a normal person’s conscience is telling her that this feeling isn’t right. However, she can’t help but feel something when she thinks about it again.
Her mind is full of self-criticism, but her steps don’t stop.
No matter who it is, don’t appear here. It’s not good.
She tried to convince herself, but the target was still there. A drunk worker from a company was approaching her.
Asagami Fujino blocked him.
Her throat moved, letting the drunk man go.
“Hey, look at your face. It’s so funny! Why aren’t you killing him?”
Asagami Fujino: “Ryougi Shiki, where are you?”
Ryougi Shiki: “I’ve been following you from the start. ‘Asagami, Asagami,’ you’re from the Asagami family.”
Please don’t say that. Killing people… is wrong.
“Oh!” Ryougi Shiki mocks: “But you’re laughing. You wanted to attack him when he appeared, didn’t you?”
“No… I’m just…”
Her eyes turned intense.
“What kind of joke is this? Asagami Fujino opened her eyes with distortion, angry.
Direct Death’s eyes and the Distortion Eyes clashed.
In the first line, Ryougi Shiki immediately detects the danger from her eyes, two invisible forces intertwining in her line of sight. The next instant, they would sever Ryougi Shiki’s body.
Ryougi Shiki begins to move rapidly as her physical form tilts.
Asagami Fujino has been trained in Taijutsu for years, making her actions far more agile and precise than the mere ten days of training Ryougi Shiki underwent.
Upon seeing Ryougi Shiki’s eyes first, she immediately devised a strategy to counter them: using obstacles to block her line of sight while approaching.
The long-awaited battle has intensified Ryougi Shiki’s blood flow, making her movements even more fluid and dynamic as she navigates through the surrounding buildings with ease.
“Distortion,” repeated repeatedly in unison.
Asagami Fujino is utilizing her Mystical Eyes ability to capture Ryougi Shiki’s shadow, only to have it snapped in mid-air.
“Crack! Crack! Crack!”
The force of the impact echoes through the surrounding area as if a massive structure were collapsing. However, Ryougi Shiki remains untouched by the pain.
Why? Why can’t I hit her? Why isn’t she appearing?
Asagami Fujino smirks coldly: “If you still can’t find her, then let’s finish her off completely.”
The power from Mystical Eyes begins to burst forth uncontrollably, unleashing waves of twisted energy that destroy everything in its path. The air itself seems to ripple like a violent water wave.
“Pounding!”
A support column from a derelict building crumbles under the force of the impact, causing the structure to begin its inevitable collapse.
Asagami Fujino gasps for air as she withdraws her Mystical Eyes power. She steadies herself and mutters: “This one’s dead, right, Master.”
“Not yet!” A figure dashes out from the rubble in a burst of speed, charging towards Asagami Fujino with lightning-like efficiency.
The blade of her dagger glints in the light as it strikes Asagami Fujino’s throat. Unyielding, she slashes through with deadly precision.
Direct Death’s Mystical Eyes has already detected Asagami Fujino’s death line; a single slash would ensure her demise.
However, as the dagger nearly strikes her neck, it suddenly veers off course. The blade cuts through Asagami Fujino’s hair with mere severancy.
Kuzuki approaches from a distance.
“Last time I mentioned going solo, but you still showed up to join me. That’s kind of comforting.”
