Chapter 59 Door to the Otherworld

“Oh, you found out. Are you from Shangri-La The Group or The Punisher Shield?”

The shop owner hangs up the phone and turns around with a smile, saying: “It’s really impressive that you were able to find this place, but it’s too bad your goal is doomed to fail.”

“Since you’ve found this place, why not investigate who is responsible for this project? It’s too bad. This oversight could cost lives.” The shop owner pulls out a gun and points it at Kuzuki, saying: “Now, follow my instructions.”

With the gun pointed at him, Kuzuki remains unfazed, asking: “Who are you?”

“Nakahara Fumito, the current head of the Nakahara family and the leader of this experiment.”

    “Experiment? What kind of experiment?”

Nakahara Fumito smiles and says: “Investigator, now it’s my turn to question you, not the other way around. Get to the bottom of this.”

He slightly moves his gun, aiming at Kuzuki’s shoulder, and pulls the trigger.

    BANG!

Kuzuki sidesteps slightly, and a small hole appears in the wall behind him, filled with smoke.

Despite the shot being wide, Nakahara Fumito remains calm.

He quickly retreats a few steps and drops a mirror adorned with strange symbols onto the ground.

The mirror shatters into pieces and is engulfed in smoke.

    ROAR!

A massive, otherworldly creature bursts out of the smoke. It looks like a magnified lion but with human-like arms on its head instead of legs, and no fur covering its body or joints.

“Well, I don’t think you’ll get much out of him. Goodbye, Investigator.”

The creature is controlled to attack Kuzuki.

    SLASH!

The two arms on the creature’s head suddenly expand and extend toward Kuzuki, palm-to-palm.

Against the monster’s outstretched arm, Kuzuki suddenly exerted his strength and stomped on the ground, causing the ground to tremble violently. At the same time, he swung a punch toward the monster’s arm.

Two arms of slightly different sizes collided in mid-air, but Kuzuki’s fist did not stop. It was like punching soft tofu as it deeply penetrated the monster’s palm!

Blood splattered everywhere, and the monster immediately winced in pain. The other arm suddenly swept across, trying to push Kuzuki away. But he powerfully kicked up with his foot, his toes pointing forward like a dagger, instantly stabbing into the monster’s sweeping arm. A dull boom echoed as it collapsed like a battle axe strike, severed into two pieces.

Before the monster could escape backward, Kuzuki reached out and pulled its massive body forward, causing it to fall. He then used the force to leap high, spinning his waist mid-air, and drove his right leg hard into its headtop.

The monster let out a scream of pain, its eye sockets nearly bursting. Its headtop bone armor cracked open seven or eight long gaps, spilling fresh blood from within.

In agony, the monster’s wild nature surged, opening its massive mouth into a terrifying grin and lunging at Kuzuki to bite him down!

But after Kuzuki kicked out a leg, he used the force to rise again, spinning mid-air, flipping upside down. He then drove his fist downward with all his strength, slamming it directly into its brain.

Under such immense pressure, both of its eye sockets burst out blood, spilling in seven streams!

A dull boom echoed as the monster toppled over, pushing a massive stone pillar from the Golden Mountain onto the ground. It lay still, with a pool of blood gathering beneath it.

Kuzuki stood atop the monster’s head, retracting his blood-soaked fist and leaping lightly toward Nanahara Fumito.

    “What is ‘Experiment’?”

Nanahara Fumito’s expression changed as he said, “That’s impossible! How could that be possible?”

Old One was killed by a human without any tools? That doesn’t make sense.

Are you kidding me? That’s Old One, an existence that has been humanity’s enemy since ancient times. No one has ever managed to kill it without using any tools. Could this person be some kind of new type of Old One, like Saya Kisaragi, which is a unique existence within Old Ones, taking on a form almost identical to humans?

Nanahara Fumito stepped back slowly until he had no more space to retreat.

Since it’s an Old One, maybe we can use the ‘Exemption from Red Food’ ability to control it. This human-shaped form of Old One could be incredibly useful.

“Well, if that’s the case, let’s go to the store. It would take too long to explain, and we can talk about it later.” He began moving toward the direction of the shop.

    A shadow blocked his path.

    “What’s the Experiment?”

Kuzuki sticks out a finger and lightly taps on Nanahara Fumito’s skin above his chest.

    “Don’t lie, I can tell.”

Nanahara Fumito leaves a cold drop of sweat behind.

To maintain the illusion, all military personnel are stationed outside the town. He thought it was unlikely that anyone would be his opponent, but he didn’t expect such a monster to appear.

However, there’s no harm in hoping.

The Coffee Shop is not far from the Shrine. As long as Tadayoshi can hear the sounds here and come to check, there might be a chance!

His chest suddenly hurts, pulling Nanahara Fumito out of his thoughts. Kuzuki’s index finger has slightly sunk into the flesh. With just a little force, he could pierce through his heart.

Feeling the power carried by his finger, Nanahara Fumito slowly explains about the Experiment.

    Months ago.

A strange girl was captured in a U.S. base in Yokosuka, Japan. This girl possesses non-human combat strength and self-healing abilities. The military spent considerable effort to capture her.

Nanahara Fumito’s family is one of the three families that have been opposing Old Ones since ancient times in Japan. Upon hearing this news, they decided to take action.

As the head of the Nanahara family and the leader of the “Tower” organization, Nanahara Fumito used his power to build this isolated town and recruit actors to create a false illusion.

He made a promise with the girl Saya Kisaragi: erase her memories and give her fake memories. If she can remember everything, he will grant her freedom.

    “Purpose?”

Nanahara Fumito fell silent for a moment before saying, “Through the Door to the Otherworld, fewer Old Ones are reaching the present world. Saya Kisaragi needs to eat Old Ones. If we can turn humans into Old Ones, then Saya Kisaragi won’t die……”

    “Door to the Otherworld?”

“Old Ones are indestructible. They come from The Other World. Killing them here just sends them back to The Other World. They use the Door to the Otherworld to come to this world, but since the late 20th century, the Door to the Otherworld has appeared less frequently.”

Kuzuki’s ear twitched as he turned his head to the side.

On the Shrine’s long slope, a creature that looks almost human and not quite walks down.

A standing wolfman, about two meters tall, still holding a katana in his hand.

It starts walking, then speeds up, finally leaping suddenly toward Kuzuki.

This monster is surprisingly skilled in swordsmanship, with sword lights flashing as it directly targets Kuzuki’s vital points!

    Roar!

The full moon-like sword light flashes and disappears, causing Kuzuki to retreat.

One slash forces Kuzuki back, the monster blocks Nanahara Fumito with its katana, who looks coldly, commanding, “Kill him, Tadayoshi.”
