    Chapter 68 Final Touches

    Sigh!

Like a fly swatting at a fly, the Old One’s massive hand sends a fierce gust of wind toward Kisaragi Saya, striking her and sending her flying like a comet.

Tracing a path through the air, it slams into the mountain wall before crashing down lifelessly, like autumn leaves.

Just as she was about to hit the ground, a pair of arms caught her.

Holding Kisaragi Saya’s bloodied body, Kuzuki apologizes: “Sorry, it took a bit longer.”

“Your condition is recovered?! Cough··cough.” Kisaragi Saya looks slightly surprised, coughing up fresh blood as she moves her damaged lungs.

Gently placing Kisaragi Saya behind the rock, Kuzuki nods: “The rest is all yours.”

    Walking toward the Old One.

It was just playing around with Kisaragi Saya before. Once it gets serious, it easily defeats her. Even though it can’t speak, its intelligence isn’t entirely gone—it’s not a mindless beast. Seeing the small bug in front of it as a person, it lets out a low growl and grabs at him.

    Gate of Opening (Kaimon), open!

The invisible barrier is opened, and Kuzuki’s body continues to overflow with power.

First Gate: Gate of Opening (Kaimon). Its effect allows one to reach 100% of their brain limit and fully utilize BodyAbility. By overloading the body’s energy reserves, it increases strength and speed. As an excellent martial artist, Kuzuki already masterfully controls 95% or more of his BodyAbility. The effects of opening Gate of Opening (Kaimon) aren’t particularly strong.

Thick, heavy fingers grasp at him with a slow, deliberate motion.

    Gate of Healing (Kyūmon), open!

If Kuzuki could see the properties in the Assassination Book now, he would notice that “Body” has reached 20 points. In his body, the speed of “Spirit” flowing through him is twice as fast as usual!

After opening Gate of Healing (Kyūmon), it maintains the body’s movement by accelerating energy consumption and increasing its quality and strength beyond its limits.

A fierce gust of wind hits him, and the Old One’s fingers extend toward him.

Kuzuki stands firm and then swings his fist!

    Roar!

Just like Fang colliding with a pencil, an extremely abnormal scene occurs. Kuzuki doesn’t move, his feet sink into the ground, and the massive Old One is knocked back, staggering backward on its hands.

    Roar!

Even though it was just a casual punch, being so easily defeated by Kuzuki enrages the Old One. It lets out a guttural roar and takes a step forward, tightening its fists before swinging a devastating punch downward.

    Gate of Life (Seimon), open!

Kuzuki grumbled softly, the Eight Gates’ final safe zone opened, his neck was throbbing with veins bulging out, some blood vessels burst under the immense pressure, turning his face red.

    Not enough!

    Gate of Pain (Shōmon), open!!!

A thunderous roar echoed as a circular wave of chaotic energy exploded outward, sending rocks flying. The uncontrollable energy leaked out from his body, beginning to dissipate in faint green hues.

Under the overwhelming force, Kuzuki’s speed exceeded imagination.

    Bam!

The ground suddenly collapsed into a massive pit, and Kuzuki vanished instantly, leaving only a cone-shaped explosion cloud slowly dissipating in its place.

    Supersonic!

Light is moving faster than sound, shattering the sound barrier as he pulled out a long shadow of himself, momentarily bypassing Old One’s arm and appearing in front of its chest.

Too much uncontrollable power, Kuzuki could only attack using his most primitive method—no need for techniques, just release the energy.

Pull mountains, overturn seas, and unleash the power like throwing dragons or wielding oxen. The endless force poured onto the stone sphere in the center.

    Bam!

Amidst the massive explosion from his punch, Kuzuki knocked out an unknown number of Old Ones with a single blow, sending them flying like ants. The giant Old One was launched hundreds of meters away before crashing into the lake and causing a massive wave.

Unfortunately, the small island in the center of the lake was hit directly, collapsing instantly and sinking beneath the surface!

The stone sphere became harder, but Kuzuki’s powerful attack still failed to shatter it. Instead, it inspired the power of the stone sphere, emitting blue light that filled Old One’s body.

    “Roar!”

The super giant Old One roared fiercely, its muscles violently contracting and expanding. It charged forward with a massive handwave, like the size of a house!

Kuzuki’s shadow flickered briefly before the two hands collided.

    Slap!

In an instant, white air waves exploded from the collision, equivalent to a twelve-level typhoon. The shock wave even pushed down the water surface of the lake by several meters before rebounding as a high wave of blood.

Kuzuki’s shadow flashed and passed through the splashing water, like a comet crashing into Old One’s body in the midst of a deafening roar.

    Ah-hah-hah!

The speed of his punches was impossible to discern, with countless fist shadows repeatedly slamming into its body. Unstoppable waves of punches poured out, exceeding a thousand in number!

This time, it wasn’t aimed at the center of the chest but struck higher up on the body, creating a massive gap large enough to blow apart a house. Blood gushed out like a fountain.

The Old One roared in pain as the stone sphere lit up again, and the wound suddenly seemed to reverse time, with fresh blood meat spouting rapidly.

Rapid recovery of Body made the light from the stone sphere dim slightly.

It aimed its mouth at Kuzuki and suddenly punched itself in the chest. The stone sphere lit up again, blue light gathering along its veins to its mouth.

The moment it formed into a light ball, it was shot out.

A pillar of light as thick as a bucket, carrying mountain collapses but with no spread of energy flow, rolled toward Kuzuki.

    Too fast.

Even though Kuzuki was still dodging at his current speed, he only managed to cross his arms in front of him before being struck by the thunderous crash.

Blue light engulfed Kuzuki, like a high-pressure water jet hitting his body.

Enveloped by the light, it was slammed into the mountain wall and then pushed back, forcing him to be knocked 15 meters deep into the mountain.

The mouth of the Old One closed, and the light disappeared. Half of the stone sphere’s light had faded, but before it could catch its breath, a massive crack in the mountains exploded open, sending a shadowy figure flying out and immediately colliding with Kuzuki.

    “Dong!”

It collapsed onto the water below, then leaped back up to confront Kuzuki.

Two terrifying creatures, like wild dogs, began fighting endlessly.

Stirring up waves and collapsing mountains.

Kuzuki punched through its body, creating a hole, then grabbed it by the Body and slammed it into the ground. He barely managed to dodge in time as its massive hand closed around him, sending him hurtling into the mountain at nearly sonic speed.

    “Doom!”

The mountains shook like a 9-level earthquake, with rocks falling from the top of the caves. The water from their battle had lowered the lake level by two meters!

Like breaking into two-headed beasts in a wooden room, each interaction caused changes to the environment, and every attack destroyed large sections.

Kuzuki’s body was wracked with pain, close to collapse. His current speed made it impossible for him to dodge further.

He was knocked back by the Old One again. Instead of counterattacking, he stood still, trembling uncontrollably.

The stone ball on its chest had lost most of its light. With one more effort, it could shatter the stone ball, but Kuzuki couldn’t hold out any longer.

    One hit decides the outcome.

    Gate of Limit (Keimon), Open!

The waves of energy surged outward like a volcanic eruption, the ground beneath Kuzuki’s feet crumbled into dust like tofu, and wave after wave of wind pressure swept across the area, creating Fierce Wind that rippled across the surface of the lake.

Roots of power surged from Kuzuki’s body, intertwining with faint green steam tinged with blood. The Eight Gates’ fifth gate, his highest accessible one at the moment, burst open as he used his severely injured body, causing countless small wounds to form across his limbs and creating crimson steam.

He struggled to assume a stance, forming an archery-style horse stance with his right fist gathered around his waist and his left fist stretched forward.

    A sharp intake of breath!

The shadow of a person instantly disappeared, and the Old One’s line of sight had not yet caught Kuzuki, when its massive body suddenly folded like a broken spring. It then thrust backward with a drumming sound, soaring through the air like a rocket.

    A thunderous crash!

    A sharp crack!

The two crashes echoed like thunder, and the tornado Kuzuki had kicked up as he moved tore away layers of earth. Even the intense winds caused waves in the lake, pushing blood forward until it formed a massive wave nearly 20 meters high that slammed into the shore, creating floods.

The Old One, however, collided with the mountain wall above him, burying half of its body within it.

Kuzuki stood about 50 meters away from it and swung his arm downward, parting the floodwaters before collapsing onto the ground.

The Old One was embedded in the mountain wall, and from the front, its true appearance was completely obscured. It looked like some kind of san-value-dropping ancient god, with a massive crack forming in its mouth resembling that of a seven-headed shark. Red and green fluids flowed out of it.

Kuzuki had completely destroyed its face with his Gouken (Strong Fist).

A massive explosion of light engulfed the Old One, killing it entirely.

After resting for a while, Kuzuki supported his severely damaged body and walked in front of the Old One. The stone ball was now just a small fragment, and when he picked it up, it still faintly glowed but had dimmed to an unreadable state.

He spent a long time searching through the ruins before finding Kisaragi Saya’s shadow.

She was unconscious due to the shockwave from the battle, though she wasn’t seriously hurt.

Kuzuki placed the fragment of the stone ball on her chest and struggled to carry her out. The structure was unstable and could collapse at any moment; it would be better to leave now.

    ···········

    A long time passed.

The constant rumbling of the mountain shook Kisaragi Saya awake. She opened her eyes, her gaze shifting from confusion to sharpness as she took in her surroundings. However, when she looked around, she realized she was lying on a rock and felt puzzled.

    Is this outside the cave?

Where is Kuzuki? And where is that terrifying Old One? Did Kuzuki win the battle?

No one answered her questions. Only the constant rumbling of the mountain echoed around her.

PS: Explain why Kisaragi Saya appears, like the Old Ones are summoned by the Six-Armed Old One.
