Chapter 72 A Glimpse of the Future
“Around 2:10 PM, a student from school Tokyo High School was found dead after falling off the roof of Fujou Building’s fourth floor. Her body was severely injured due to the fall and she died immediately. This marks the fourth suicide at Fujou Building. However, unlike previous cases, no suicide note was left behind. When police investigated Miss A’s whereabouts, they also questioned her family and friends about whether she had been troubled or involved in any disputes recently…”
One day in early August, a news report carried this story.
Then, Kokutou Mikiya naturally noticed something unusual about the incident.
The students who committed suicide came from different schools and were strangers to each other. None of them had any issues in their private lives, and their families couldn’t find a reason for their suicides either.
It could be coincidence or another reason, but all four cases shared the same characteristics, which clearly pointed to something suspicious.
After making this judgment, Kokutou Mikiya began his own investigation. However, after some unknown incident, he suddenly fell unconscious and remained in a coma for about ten days.
His soul was no longer bound to his body… Aozaki Touko said so.
After hearing the details of the event, Asagami Fujino sat quietly at the table and said: “So, what do you think we should do? Your teacher told us not to interfere in this matter.”
Kokutou Azaka’s eyebrows were knitted together in concern. She folded her hands and said: “Well, I’ve made a lot of progress recently under Teacher Kuzuki’s training, and Fujino, you’re also very strong in Martial Arts… So, I think I should secretly investigate this matter behind my teacher’s back.”
It was easy to stop martial arts training, but talking about this incident made Fujino’s expression darken.
Since learning the Tenshou Breathing and Walking Technique (Karate), her body had grown by a whole size, and her weight had increased significantly, exceeding 100 pounds. She stopped the training immediately and was now unsure how to tell Kuzuki about it.
Fujino sighed and said: “Just ask Teacher Kuzuki first. If he doesn’t approve, you shouldn’t do anything extra.”
Kokutou Azaka gasped in surprise, staring at the girl before her: “Fujino, don’t tell me… You like Teacher Kuzuki?”
Fujino smiled and said: “You don’t love your Brother either?”
Having been caught off guard about his own feelings, Kokutou Azaka’s reaction was much stronger than Asagami Fujino’s. She abruptly stood up, leaned on the table with both hands, and her face turned red as she said: “What are you talking about? Who would like that big fool!”
Under Fujino’s intense gaze, she collapsed helplessly back into her chair.
Kokutou Azaka groaned and leaned on the table, saying: “It’s so obvious…”
She quickly stood up again and said: “I’ll save Brother from that woman. Don’t let Fujino interfere in Brother’s business.”
Just then, a voice boomed from outside the blackout: “Teacher Kuzuki, come out!”
The blackout door was suddenly pulled open.
Seo Shizune barged in, but she didn’t expect to find two girls inside.
In the instant she saw Fujino and Azaka, a vivid scene flashed before her eyes.
On a rainy night, with the moon high overhead. Seo Shizune faced these two girls, along with a short-haired girl holding a knife—she was the one who appeared in Kuzuki Future Fragment last time. They four stood on the rooftop of the building, surrounded by nine floating Ghosts that had encircled them.
Before she could even think about what this future vision might mean, one of the two girls spoke.
“This student, do you have something to ask Teacher Kuzuki?” The purple-haired girl who spoke was someone she recognized—the eldest lady of the prestigious Asagami Family and another highly renowned student listed among the top students.
“I—” She struggled to say what she wanted to.
Seo Shizune hesitated, not revealing her reason for coming to pay her respects.
Originally, she had planned to remain silent for seven days. However, it’s hard to change human habits, and after speaking with others, she realized that revealing secrets or expressing her thoughts would lead to complications.
She had been nervous for a long time, worried about saying the wrong thing. In school life, relationships are not as simple as they seem. If she said something inappropriate, she might be excluded, making her life difficult in the days that followed.
After the incident at noon, her feelings toward Kuzuki had changed significantly, so now she felt bold enough to bother Kuzuki.
Kokutou Azaka looked at her and realized, “You must be Seo Shizune from Class C? Teacher Kuzuki’s class. Do you have something urgent to ask Teacher Kuzuki?”
“No—no trouble, I’ll leave now.”
Just as she was about to leave, a voice called out behind her, “You wanted to see me?”
Kuzuki heard her shout and ended his Daily Life meditation to come over and see what happened.
The principal had returned at this moment, leaving Seo Shizune stuck in place—she couldn’t leave or stay, so she remained frozen.
She didn’t speak, leading Kuzuki to misunderstand something. His expression hardened as he asked, “Did you see the Future Fragment? Was it about me?”
[She saw it, but not about you!]
“See the future?” Fujino and Kokutou Azaka asked in unison. “You can see the future?”
Kokutou Azaka’s eyes lit up, like a big gray wolf seeing a white rabbit.
“Come, come, sit down, Seo student.”
Kuzuki looked at her with an intimidating presence as she honestly said, “It wasn’t about Teacher Kuzuki. It was about—” She paused for a moment before revealing the truth.”Me, us three, and that short-haired girl fighting on the rooftop with others.”
Perhaps she spoke her mind because of Fujino Asagami and Kokutou Azaka’s attitudes—
She had always hidden the fact that she could see things of the future. Even if she were to speak of it, most people would merely laugh dismissively and joke about it, not believing a word she said.
But this time was different. Two people almost immediately believed her and expressed their curiosity, so she didn’t lie.
[They don’t believe me, they believe Teacher Kuzuki. Does that mean they also have special abilities like Teacher Kuzuki?]
She felt a sense of kinship with them and began to explain the situation to the two people sitting beside her.
“Oh, right, Teacher Kuzuki. Do you know what happened at Fujou Building?” Kokutou Azaka and Seo Shizune chatted for a while before asking Kuzuki.
Kuzuki nodded and said, “The news mentioned it.”
“Brother fell unconscious during his investigation of this matter. I wanted to wake him up, so ···”
……It seems Seo Shizune saw the same thing.
“I have no right to interfere with your freedom. If you’re investigating this out of your own will, I won’t stop you.” Kuzuki’s principles are like that.
Yes!
Kokutou Azaka excitedly blinked at Fujino and began to ask her questions, dragging Seo Shizune along.
The questions were quite strange.
Who is my Future Husband? Am I becoming very powerful? Did I pass the University entrance exams successfully?
Even Fujino began to feel curious and asked a few small questions.
Seo Shizune sighed, explaining, “I already told you, I can only passively see some fragments of the future. I can’t make precise predictions ···”
Kuzuki looked at her and saw that she didn’t have any other business to attend to, so he left and went to practice martial arts.
