Chapter 96 The Labyrinth of the Heart
Hm?
Kuzuki’s expression was solemn, seeing Ye Haochen at the chessboard.
“Who is this person? I felt something strange about him from the start. Now he’s messing with Zhenlong Go Board—something’s not right.”
Thinking that over, he took a step toward Ye Haochen.
A sound echoed, and Su Xinghe suddenly appeared, blocking Kuzuki’s path.
“Stay here. I have something to ask you once this gentleman finishes his game.”
If Ye Haochen lost the match, wouldn’t that be like throwing cold water on a hot pot?
Kuzuki didn’t acknowledge or question it and continued toward Ye Haochen.
Su Xinghe growled in frustration. His clothes billowed out dramatically, releasing a surge of energy to push Kuzuki back.
But Kuzuki barely paused before shoving the force aside and taking another step forward.
“Well done,” Su Xinghe suddenly struck out with his finger, sending a blinding white light that hit Kuzuki. The light was a manifestation of his Internal Energy, which contained immense strength. It knocked Kuzuki back several steps. “You really think you can just waltz over to Miaoyao Peak and do whatever you want? You’re not even close to being good enough.”
“Get out of the way. I have something important to ask Ye Haochen, so don’t get in my way.” Kuzuki glared at him, smoothing down his wrinkled clothes.
But Su Xinghe’s mission was to wait for someone who broke the game. He wouldn’t tolerate anyone else interfering and smirked, “What if I do?”
Kuzuki frowned. When dealing with others, he was ruthless and bloodthirsty because he knew those self-righteous Martial World people were just like the evil sect members of Xingxiu Sect—full of blood on their hands. So when he killed them, he never hesitated.
Killers are always killed… Kuzuki was no different.
Su Xinghe had been hiding at Miaoyao Peak for decades, refining the game and never touching a drop of blood. Did that mean he should kill Kuzuki just because he got in his way?
That’s not something Kuzuki would do.
He stepped back two steps and stood with his arms crossed, waiting quietly.
Su Xinghe sighed. While the man wasn’t intent on killing him, the aura around him suggested he had taken countless lives before, putting pressure on him that wasn’t any less than Ding Chunqiu’s.
He thought it would be a brutal battle, but this man—cold, emotionless, and distant—actually seemed reasonable to talk to.
Su Xinghe bowed slightly: “Zhenlong Go Board is open to everyone. If you want to break the game, wait for this gentleman to try it first before giving it another shot.”
Kuzuki fell silent, seeming to agree. Su Xinghe also fell quiet, closing his eyes and waiting patiently for Ye Haochen to finish the match.
In reality, Kuzuki had come for Northern Darkness Divine Skill.
Those who have read (Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils) know that Zhenlong Go Board was set by nozawa, a world where he is the Carefree Master. Its purpose is to choose the Carefree Sect as his sect master (a world of Heavenly Mountain Sect), an inheritance he has spent decades cultivating to clear the doors. Nozawa is hidden in a mountain cave at the peak, waiting for the right person.
Kuzuki is born from Northern Darkness Divine Skill and wants to destroy Zhenlong Go Board. He may not know how to play chess, but luckily this world’s Zhenlong Go Board is a fantasy version, so he doesn’t need to know how to play; he just needs to break the illusion created by Zhenlong Go Board.
Therefore, even though Kuzuki doesn’t know how to play chess, he can try.
If a normal method can achieve the goal, Kuzuki will choose that over other violent methods, even if it takes more time and effort. He only resorts to violence when normal methods fail or when trying any other method.
After waiting quietly, Ye Haochen sits at the chessboard, his face pale and sweating profusely.
“Gasp!”
He coughs up a cloud of blood, like being struck by a powerful force, and falls back several steps.
His mind is trapped in the illusion, his Internal Energy uncontrollably pulled along, changing with the situation. Now that the illusion has collapsed, his Internal Energy is causing internal damage.
Su Xinghe sighs and shakes his head: “Your chess skills haven’t been refined yet; you can’t let him see your master.”
Ye Haochen wipes the blood from his mouth, coldly saying: “Hell, this broken chess game is so difficult. If no one breaks it in their lifetime, does that mean Northern Darkness Divine Skill will be lost?”
He looks around and realizes Kuzuki is standing nearby, staring at him coldly.
Ye Haochen’s cold sweat flows down his face, his back soaked through, shocked and angry.
[How could he be here? Maybe he’s also a ··]
[Not necessarily.]
Ye Haochen says nothing, acting as if nothing happened as he walks down the mountain.
But before he takes even a few steps, Kuzuki blocks his path.
“Are you a transmigrator? A Reincarnator? Or a reborn?”
Ye Haochen looks confused and annoyed: “I don’t understand what you’re saying. Let me go.”
His erratic heartbeat betrays his nervousness.
Kuzuki shakes his head and strikes out.
His arm slashes through the air like lightning, striking quickly.
He moves without warning, faster than normal. Even though Ye Haochen had prepared himself, he couldn’t dodge in time, getting hit close up.
“Gasp!”
Haochen’s figure retreats abruptly, dashing some ten meters away. His expression is surprise, he exclaims in panic: “What did you do to me?”
Kuzuki certainly won’t explain this to him.
Although Kuzuki had struck him earlier, Haochen isn’t one to take things lying down. He quickly sidesteps, causing Kuzuki’s attack to miss its mark and fail to hit the Secret Acupuncture Points.
Since he didn’t hit the Secret Acupuncture Points, his previous attack won’t work as intended. Let him wonder about this indefinitely.
At this point, Su Xinghe becomes angry and inserts himself between the two of them, barking: “If you want to fight in the mountains, this is Miaoyao Peak. You can’t just run wild here!”
“Haochen is Ding Chunqiu’s disciple and knows how to use the Energy-Draining Technique. Are you sure you want to block me?”
“What?!” Su Xinghe is taken aback, looking at Haochen behind him. “He said that, but does he really mean it?”
Haochen looks uneasy. He went to great lengths to please Ding Chunqiu just to learn the Energy-Draining Technique, only for it to become a death sentence for him now.
Seeing that Haochen doesn’t respond, Su Xinghe’s face twitches with anger and suddenly extends his hand: “Clear Wind! Summon Clear Wind, Exorcise Demon Barrier!” A swirling wind appears behind him, following the motion of his outstretched hand as it targets Haochen.
The wind is unlike ordinary winds; it has a strange, almost intangible force about it.
Haochen is forced into a corner and decides to strike back.
He waves his hands, releasing red light that immediately pushes the swirling wind away. However, the wind reforms and falls into Su Xinghe’s hand, its power diminishing as it takes on the shape of a sword.
While Haochen managed to repel Su Xinghe’s attack, he also revealed his true intentions, prompting Su Xinghe to fly into a rage.
“Bandit! Dare you defy me!”
Then, the two engage in battle once more.
Two figures rise into the air, their Sword Qi flying wildly, with red light flashing. It’s like two fighter jets in mid-air, continuously bombarding the ground.
Bam! Bam!
Stones are constantly being blasted away, shaking the mountain peak. Kuzuki sits on a stone bench under an ancient tree, watching as they continue to fight for some time before he picks up a chess piece and drops it onto the board.
The piece hasn’t even landed on the board yet when the board Distortion occurs, resembling a mirage like the Amu Darya phenomenon.
By the time he regains his senses, he finds himself in an unfamiliar space.
